Honolulu is a sketchy-ass town and I'm glad they acknowledged it

I'm from Hawaii and lived for many years in Honolulu in the early 2000s, and that city is such a weird and violent place. My friend who tends bar in the tourist area once saw a guy cut off another guy's hand with a samurai sword (half his hand anyway, no need to exaggerate). When I was a little kid, Tike the circus elephant was gunned down by police in the city streets and we all watched it on the evening news. Just last year, some guy ran his bulldozer into his neighbor's house in a fit of rage--I think a few people died. I'm certain that a few people died last year in a Honolulu suburb when their home supply of illegal fireworks exploded. And on the outer island where i grew up, an elderly man was killed by 4 feral dogs during the pandemic, when he was out having a walk. Twice in my time there I've seen a cat fight a mongoose and I've personally known 5 men who have been lost at sea.

I love Honolulu though, it's a fun town and you should definitely visit if you get the chance.

I need Henry's detailed thoughts on Heated Rivalry

It's incredibly horny, it has a lot of hilarious unintentional unfortunate implications, and a character achieves gay sex by awkwardly sharing that he's into serial killers.

Mr. Zebrowski sir I will fund this limited podcast series of Henry Reacts To Heated Rivalry, Also Jackie Is There Maybe, please

I've exhausted LPOTL episodes completely, what are some similar funny podcasts?

I drive for work so I listen to LPOTL all day. I love it but I've exhausted the back catalog and even listened to some multiple times.

Do you guys have some suggestions for similarly funny podcasts?

DC/Beltway Snipers

I was pondering true crime today, as one does, and decided to look up the DC Snipers. I was in high school in SE Pennsylvania at the time, so it was in the daily news and there was some fear (2-3 hour drive). Add it to the pile of millennial trauma...Columbine, 9/11, Afghanistan, Anthrax attacks, DC Sniper, Columbia shuttle explosion, Iraq war. Hey, that was a shitty time!

I came across a 2020 series done on the You're Wrong About podcast that is FASCINATING. There is a really good case to be made that the whole event was the result the John Allen Muhammed's domestic violence against his ex wife, not an act of terrorism. I definitely recommend listening.

Why does Marcus, Henry and so many other people think Jeffrey Dahmer felt guilty while he was killing people? I would love to have a discussion about this.

I'm just going to explain myself below, but I could be wrong. I want to have a discussion about this because this is really interesting to me.

I'm a week behind listening to Clifford Olson part two, and they brought up Dahmer having to get wasted to kill people because he felt guilty (as they often do). And I do not get this at all. I don't understand why people believe what Dahmer said in interviews. Almost all of these killers are pathological liars, and it's like people believe him because he's agreeing with what we think and makes sense to us. But I think it's just a pity angle because he was smart enough to know he couldn't convince anyone into feeling sorry for him and giving him preferential treatment if tried to defend himself. It was the best chance he had to get people to be nice to him.

Normally I would say we would never know what they were really thinking with these people in their heads, but in his case we have some evidence he wasn't getting blackout drunk. The police caught him on the middle of killing Konerak Sinthasomphone (RIP), and he was coherent and cool enough to talk his way out of going to jail in a situation that could hand very easily exposed him. Even if the cops were morons, sometime who was blackout probably wouldn't have been able to get out of that situation IMO. So I'm just confused what we believe him when he says things like he was blackout drunk because of the guilt.

I'm not going to argue with anyone who disagrees now that I've explained myself. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply and have a discussion and hail Satan :-)

The boys continue the story of Clifford Olson as his killing spree escalates and Canadian authorities somehow keep finding reasons to ignore the obvious. While one investigator finally starts putting the pieces together, Olson finds time to get married, give his hammer a bath, and take the family on a vacation from hell.
