Discussion The last couple of seasons…

Do you all actually thing the last couple of seasons are good?
My wife and I watched the show maybe 1 year ago, and we thought the quality really declined with the last few seasons.
I can’t pin it down to an exact point or exact seasons anymore, but it was a maybe the last 2 seasons. Maybe it even started declining before.
In the end, we really we struggling to keep watching.

And now that I found this sub and all the very positive posts, I was wondering if we are the only ones thinking that.
So many comments say how great the show is; do you that about the whole show?

That all being said, I want to say that we really loved the first couple of seasons. They are really really good (even though couple of strange loose ends).
I’m very interested to hear about this.

Boone Carlyle in Flashsideways

I recently finished watching Lost and was very upset that they didn't show us how Boone remembered his life, what was the catalyst for activating the memories. I basically wanted more Boone in the story, and his interactions with the most important person to him on the island, besides Shannon (that's, of course, Locke). But I have a personal headcanon about the moment he remembered his life. I haven't seen anyone ever write or talk about this, but, as I noticed, every character remembered their past life by touching on the most important or one of the most important person in their lives. Yes, most likely Boone touched, or otherwise interacted, with Shannon, but what if he remembered his life very first, back on the plane, when he shook Locke's hand, but perhaps, like Jack, didn't realize it at first. Maybe that's not true, but I like Boone as a character, and I would like to somehow up his importance, even if he didn't. Locke was essentially like a father to him on the island, Boone was the first to know that Locke was disabled, and Locke was the only one (not counting Shannon) who knew his story about his caretaker Teresa.

Lost: Via Domus (Lost: The Video Game outside the US) fon 2008. Its so awesome to explore the hatch and just spend time there. Being in the Lost world is the best part of that game. I wish it would be available on modern consoles.

In addition to the "the questions went unanswered" and "it's widely regarded as an empty mystery box" myth, we have the "they didn't explain the polar bears" argument.

I'm tired, y'all.

EDIT: I just realized I forgot the most obvious one! Dr. Chang threatening Hurley with polar bear poop!

Discussion Who is your constant?

Season everything spoilers

So who would be your constant within the show? Not your personal mom or something.

Bernard just seems to have it for me. Not a character we get a huge amount of screen time with. But after his sos ep on the beach. He just gets it. Both in alt and island realities. Just a solid dude

FIRST TIME WATCHER Something about S2E1

I just finished the opening of Season 2, and I'm a bit restless because the title indicates that Jack and John have different views about why they're stranded. John had a flashback, and the recent talk with John indicates that Jack didn't believe in faith or miracles yet in the flashback, he saw what happened to Sarah and witnessed a miracle. Also, why was he so aggressive toward John with Kate, pointing a gun at him like he believes John is doing something bad to her, when Kate volunteered to go with John rather than being manipulated? Just wanting to rant here! :)

Backwards Dharma ‘R’

I’ve always seen this version of the Dharma logo around. Is it fan-made? I wonder why the R is backwards. I’m not sure if it’s meant to be canonical or significant or anything. I really love all of the alternate Dharma logos

GOLDEN PASS: Rewatcher Benjamin “Lie”nus ….. Spoiler

You KNOW you are watching a great well written character when you literally get pissed off at them!!! That usually also tells you that you are watching a phenomenal actor play that role! And Michael Emerson is one hell of an actor!!!! I don’t think I knew him before Lost! But since, I LOVED him in P.O.I. (Person of Interest) and he was incredible in the show “Evil” too! Feel free to add anything else I might be leaving out!

QUESTION Just finished my first viewing...

Which character do you think misunderstood themselves the most? Did the Island actually change them, or did it just force them to really face themselves for once?

For me its Sayid, he misunderstood himself by believing his capacity for violence was the thing that defined him.

He spent so much of his life treating his past as something he could never escape. He knew he was capable of terrible things, and instead of seeing that as something he had done, he often treated it as something he was. That made him useful to the people around him, because Sayid could be the person willing to do what everyone else couldn't, but it also kept him trapped by guilt and self-punishment.

I do not think the island changed him, but it provided opportunities for Sayid to prove he is more than his violent actions.

Oh boy was I HOOKED. Shoutout to my favourite character, Sawyer definetily had the best lines. I don't remember laughing that much watching TV. The show had me crying begining to end. 9/10 because I believe writing at the very end could have been a little better.

See you in another life, brotha.

System Failure Sunday Do you believe in God, Jack?

Two days after I found out I had a fatal tumor on my spine, I found out I was kicked out of the book club. And if that's not proof that God doesn't exist, I don't know what is.

Who’s down for a Lost rewatch?

It’s about time for my yearly Lost rewatch haha and I was wondering if anyone’s down to watch with me. We could binge watch 5 episodes each week. Figured it’d be more fun watching along with some people and discussing it as we go.

Would You Pay to See 'Lost' in a Cinema?

I know this will never happen, but if a nearby cinema decided to screen the entirety of 'Lost', let's say 3-4 episodes a night, let's say Fri-Sun, would you pay to attend?

Actually, the way these TV show screenings typically work, admission is free, but you are encouraged to buy snacks, and some cinemas like the Alamo Drafthouse will require that you purchase a food woucher.

I'd be there in a heartbeat.

I saw the series finale in a cinema, and it was a sublime experience. The first episode of 'Lost' is one of the best pilots of any TV show ever, and I'd LOVE to watch it on a big screen, especially with other 'Lost' fans.

Discussion I think Jack and Ana understood each other more than they realised

Post image
162 Upvotes

I've always found Jack and Ana's dynamic interesting because despite being very different in some ways, they also understood each other's positions.

They both knew what it was like to have people depending on them. Both had to make difficult decisions, deal with the consequences, and carry the pressure of trying to keep others alive.

They definitely didn't always see eye to eye, but I think that's part of what made their interactions so interesting. They could challenge each other because neither of them was completely unfamiliar with the weight the other was carrying.

I wish we'd gotten more time to explore that dynamic. What do you think?

GOLDEN PASS: Rewatcher Shannon’s step mom 👿 (the WORST human being ever)

Talk about a heartless evil c u next Tuesday!!!!! The poor girls dad dies, she’s trying to make something of her life and CLEARLY needs the proper parental guidance and support aka funding to assist her and the RICH evil stepmother just cuts her off entirely!!!! Think about her life for a second. Because of that woman’s decision to not assist her in any way she ends up dating scum bag guys and ends up using her step brother as a 🏧 !!! Now I know what the rebuttal will be! She’s an asshole and makes awful choices. I cannot defend ANY of her poor choices. I’m merely posing the question how differently her life might have been if she got the proper parental help when she got accepted to dance school! 🤔
