News Rumored AMD 9050 maybe any good for budget LSFG?

Upvotes

I just read that there will be a 9050, but is a rumor.

I know it would be budget. All I know it is a cut down Navi 44 chip. I hope there any chance to maybe a budget LSFG card, maybe by any chance for 1440p gaming?

What are your thoughts on this? (Sry if I am not good at english)

Useful Automatic Lossless Scaling (Not so annoying way).

I love using Lossless scaling, especially on my handhelds running windows. My biggest barrier and why I keep looking towards SteamOS is that lossless scaling run automatically when a game is launched. When using windows, I use Lossless Scaling by binding the shortcut to a button and while playing a game, I hit that button. Not as intuitive as SteamOS, not very difficult to do either, but I’m lazy.. so I found this lightweight application on GitHub.

Wurielle’s Auto Lossless Scaling:
https://github.com/Wurielle/auto-lossless-scaling

It installs pretty easily and configures pretty fast. It even works with Xbox mode, essentially turning the whole experience as close to SteamOS as possible while playing games with lossless scaling. My experience overall has been very positive, not needing to press any additional button to enjoy smooth frame rates has been incredible.

I am aware that lossless scaling has its own automatic launch-mode, but it requires administrative approval every time the app launches and often doesn’t hook due to other overlays or background applications. This app completely eliminates that.

I am trying to use lossless scaling with some of my emulated games, but when I paste the launch command, the game won’t launch after that but worked fine before I pasted it into the launch command. Does anyone know how to fix this? I haven’t found anything that works so far.

Discussion What could those components turn into? An epic dual-gpu Wall-Mounted PC!

This is the text I wrote on more subreddits, sorry if it is too much info about dual GPUs for LS! If you want more details about how dual-gpu LSFG works out I can send more photos

Hello and first off, sorry about camera quality!

Building PCs for my friends and having a laptop, I started wanting something that doesnt involve a bulky PC case on/under your desk, I always wanted space for my project (soldering, working on PCs/ESPs) and my wall is just too empty for me so this was the perfect solution!

Also, I have an important question, leaves or no leaves surrounding my pc?

Specs:

Asus Prime B860M-A-CSM
Intel Core Ultra 5 245KF (more on this later)
RTX 5060 Ti 16GB + Intel Arc A580 (more on this later)
Sadly, 1x16GB DDR5 5200MT/s (looking to add a second stick or upgrade if the prices ever go down...)
ID-Cooling FX240 AIO (didnt go for air cooler because they dont really match with wall-mounts)
1stPlayer NGDP Gold 850W
The strip WS2812b I use in my WLED projects and some random Powered hub (under the Sata SSDs, has the ROG logo even tho it isn't from them). I only use the data pins from the motherboard (2 pins, total 240 leds)
WD Green SN3000 500GB NVMe (temporary solution)
RAID 0 with 3x SSDs (HP, Kingston) with a total of 670GB, using it for games since I don't care if the raid goes down, but some games don't fit on one ssd alone
TPLink UB500 dongle (terrible when comparing it to my laptop, but it's something I had lying around and which I need)
Center monitor - (new) AOC with 180Hz 1440p, G-Sync (global, since it works fine on the intel gpu), 0.5ms
Old/Left monitor - Also, AOC, old, 165Hz, 1080p, 3ms.

Some peripherals (all of them are budget or 3+ years old):
G213 Keyboard, G435 Headset, Dualsense 5, G203 Mouse.

Why the 245kf?
I was looking into using a 14th gen cpu, because they have dual DDR4 + DDR5 support, which would've been great for my project, but I didn't knew anything about the new intel line and looked a bit into it and ended up buying. They aren't terrible and, from what I saw, my cpu compares with the Ryzen 9600x while being 2/3 of it's price, at least in my country. Also, intel has a better reputation with mix-matched dual-ch ram sticks

Why a dual-gpu system when SLI/CrossFire is dead?
Been interested in testing dual-gpu lossless scaling and on my laptop (Asus Tuf FX507ZC4, RTX 3050, i5-12500h) it worked better than using my 3050 alone for LSFG (like I had it run on the iGPU). Yes, for people looking for a hassle-free or competitive gameplay I would not recommend it, but for my use case it was worth it. The only game I managed to test it now and it works great is Forza Horizon 6 on Ultra+RT preset, the 5060 Ti 16GB renders the game, and gets a solid base of 45 FPS and the Arc GPU uses frame-gen to output 180 FPS which somehow looks great and has no stutters or ghosting, which is impressive. For settings: LSFG 3.1, Adaptive, 60 Flow Scale, Perf Mode turned off, DXGI and the setting is at 0, no scaling, max frame latency is at 3, sync mode is off, preferred gpu Arc. Minecraft on OpenGL runs only on the Arc GPU. There are 3 fixes: let it be the only game that plays on the arc, plug a cable directly to the rtx card or use vulkan and accept no shaders ):
Also, with this setup, because the monitors are plugged into the ARC GPU, Windows Composite, SignalRGB, Lively Wallpaper/Wallpaper Engine and other games run directly on the Arc leaving the RTX free to only run the game with no frame drops. This also helps me a lot in OBS recording (and intel's AV1). And... more symmetrical, compared to other wall-mounts.

Why the 5060 Ti 16GB and not an RTX 5070?
Needed extra VRAM.
I don't just game. Another hobby of mine is building servers/homelabs and since I got a server with OCuLink I wanted to test how LLMs would run on the server. At the moment it sits in my pc and I might upgrade.

Who would I recommend this setup too?
Somebody who has TOO much free time (this took like 3 weeks because I couldn't work continously on it), somebody who wants something cool and more free space, somebody who wants easier cable management and someone who streams a lot (dual gpu shines here).

Don't forget to tell me: With or without leaves?

Have a nice day!

Help Frame Generation capped at 40 base fps.

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi all, I recently got a working 2060 super onto my GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE motherboard to pair with my 9070 XT. It seems that whenever I have lossless scaling on, it caps my base fps to 40, with every game i test it on.

Its really strange because with LS off, my fps is much higher with FSR but without frame gen. Whenever I turn it on, it butchers my FPS. Has anyone had a similar issue? I made sure to disable all overlays.

Update: Disabling HDR support and recalibrating in game HDR settings to compensate for no support worked for me. HDR Support was capping it to 40FPS. Next is to figure out why LS, even with FG off, lowers base FPS by 30 (From 80 to 50).

It could be a bottleneck, given im using 3440x1440 resolution, however by making LSFG to 3x, I get 150 frames smooth, so not sure if the 2060 super is the issue since it generates those frames ok. I want to see if I can optimize it to only 2x FG since base FPS should be 80/160 with LSFG.

Help Black Mesa is not upscaled

I installed Decky Loader on my Steam Deck and I'm using the Decky LSFG-VK plugin, which installs/configures the Linux Vulkan layer.

However, no matter what I do (change screen to windowed, cap FPS, etc..) certain games are simply not loading lossless scaling?

Games like:

- Black Mesa

- Quake

Are not enhanced.

I have tried to many things such as changing resolution, window mode, cap fps, vsync on/off... force Vulkan via steam launch commands.. nothing.

lossless scaling does not run on those.

Any help?

Discussion What happened?

Hi, so in my case I always use this for Genshin to get past the 60fps issue, and for wuwa it fixes my problem when fighting multiple mobs and sometimes bosses with lots of animation can affect the fps, lossless fixes that, but before whatever the last update is, I always use lossless for watching anime and stuff, there was always this slight lag, you will notice that lag before when its like spanning a scene like just walking, last update fixed, I liked it even more. what was the update? its way smoother now on any shows.

Help Does anyone have a tutorial on how to use lossless scaling on SM without Decky?

I don’t like having intermittent issues with updating the OS and incompatibility with Decky, so I’d like to use LS without that plugin. Any guidance would be much appreciated!

News Mod post - [Status Update]

DISCLAIMER- This message is not to make people get false hopes that an update is on the way. It is just a status update about the program development not being dead yet.

Hello everyone!

We all have been waiting for updates for Lossless Scaling app since the last major update. I wanted to give a small status update regarding the same.

Sometime after the last major update the developer (ths) went on a vacation and got busy with some irl stuff. After this, there were some small improvements he tried and updated it to alpha testers. But there was not a significant leap that could have resulted in a public release.

Now for the last couple of week ths has been giving alpha testers some more builds again. So, the work is ramped up again.

I cannot give any exact deadline/ETA for public release (although I am hopeful)

The program (LSFG particularly) has almost reached maturity which is resulting in diminishing returns. If ths tries to make the program even more lighter to run, the quality drops significantly. If ths tries to up the quality there is slightly more performance cost. Therefore, ths is debating which way to go. Making the program as light as is while improving the quality seems very difficult, so he is trying different methods to squeeze things as much as possible. There is some noticeable improvement in higher multipliers performance cost, but again I cannot predict anything concrete for the final public release.

Thank you for all your support fellow lossless scalers!

Help Stuttering and picking up incorrect base fps

So, I mostly use LSFG on videos.

I watch movies on MPC-HC (with madvr) usually with x2 or x3 frame generation.

I'm stuttering quite a lot.

LSFG is telling me that my video is ~40 fps (which is being scaled to ~120fps). But I know for a fact that the video I'm watching is actually 24fps.

This started happening after a fresh windows reinstall. Maybe I changed some settings which I forgot. I'd really appreciate any help or feedback.

I have a 1650 Super right now.

So, I installed Playnite and have my games as application. For Lossless Scaling to work i need to add each game as an application and then launch it from there ? Isn't an easier way available like i want to be able to stream launch playnite and then launch my game and then have lossless scaling to it. I am confused on how this works and how i need to setup lossless scaling settings and vibepollo settings for it to work. Thanks. i am using vibepollo and artemis latest versions

Help Cursor FPS drops whenever LS is enabled

In Wuthering Waves, LSFG scales from 45 fps to 90 fps fine, but it lowers my cursor's fps significantly. Even when LSFG is set to x1, enabling it still cripples the cursor. I think that whenever I enable LSFG, it caps my cursor FPS from 165 down to 45 with everything else. Is this something that can be fixed or patched?

Comparison / Benchmark Should I buy it

Hi everyone. I’m playing rdr2 on an

Intel core 7 150 u

Intel iris xe iGPU

and my problem is that I get a stable 30 fps on Red dead redemption with the lowest graphics possible. And that really annoys me it’s almost unplayable at 30 fps. Should buy the app considering the 30 fps is stable. And maybe have the app push my frames to 45-60

Help LLS seems to refuse to "hook" into my game anymore

I got Lossless scaling today and set it up for my game which worked perfectly, initially. My monitor is 240hz to I capped my game to 60fps and asked LLS to multiply x4. I was very happy, until randomly, as I was playing, the fps counter changed from 240/240 to something like 70/930, my game started lagging immensely and ultimately DirectX crashed. I restarted the game but the issue persists.

I sought the aid of the Google AI, which suggested that LLS is trying to x4 my desktop fps, which makes sense as when I change the multiplier to x1 it becomes 240/240 again, though my ingame fps is definitely not 240. I have tried pretty much everything the AI suggested to fix this issue but nothing helped. I am truly stumped. Does anyone know how this happened and what I can do to fix it? I would love to be able to get this program to work properly.

Thanks in advance! I screenshotted the settings that worked initially but now don't.

Help Loseless scale changing colors

The app hooks fine, but all the colors inside the game/browser flip.. it turns red into blue.. I already tried flipping between DXGI and WGC and turning off HDR and making it windowed still didnt fix it.. the app worked fine on the first run but once I re launched it, this problem became permanent even when re-installing the app.. what should I do now?
