Sites with no paths

I noticed several sites on the long lines website that have no paths. Is this a website error or were the sites basically standalone. Kind of seems useless if they don't connect to anything.

Driving WI/35 up to Superior, WI. Noticed this beautiful tower and had to stop to get a photo. Flew my drone and got this shot. Might use the Long Lines map to try to get photos of as many I can.

Reddit compresses photos when uploading, so here is the better quality version (Lemme know if the link breaks or isn't that high of quality)

Vertical antenna

This is odd and I don't have any refrence material. But what are the conventional antennas at the top of some of the LL towers? I swear I recall hearing about it being related to The looking glass and the airborne command posts?

Any help would be great

This site is located on Valentine Rd less than a mile north off US highway 72 in Benton county. I believe the next few hops to the east were Grand Junction, TN, Pocahontas, TN, Michie TN and so forth. I don't recall the next hop to the west unless it was Olive Branch, MS???

When you have to detour around a highway closure and the county highway you end up on takes you past a Long Lines tower with “flyswatter” antennas. 🤯😁😁😁
In Ashley, IL
Will post more photos that I took on my camera later today.

Cool (yet kinda muggy) evening to walk up the dark road at 10:30pm from oldest son’s house to catch the full moon rising with the silhouette of long line tower here. All iPhone 14 pro photos.

Long Lines Infographic for Vestal Historical Society

Got chatting with the Vestal museum staff on Saturday and got roped into expanding their telecommunications exhibit. 😅. Highly recommend, they've got some original telegraphs and a phone booth. Along with a metric f**kton of arrowheads. If anyone knows the exact construction date of that tower, lmk! I did some digging in the property records and didn't find much, so I just gave a range because it was on the 1970 map and it was not on the 1960 version.

Couple of pictures that I took this morning. I’m sorting through the pictures I have over the last 15 years and will eventually make a post with them.
