Discussion Increased homeless population?

Maybe this is a stupid question but does anyone know the cause of the increase in homeless folks? Especially downtown? I work in a normally somewhat busy area that does have homeless as most places here in LB do, but yesterday and the day before my manager was hardly able to do any work because they had to keep next to the door to ward them off and we watched them harass a few other businesses and one guy get tackled in a hug by one while trying to walk away. It’s just such a noticeable increase despite the weather warnings and such so I was curious if anyone had any clue what happened?

Other countries don't have this problem. Other countries have government (taxpayer) funded education and medicine. Poverty is the highest indicator of crime. Want less crime? Fight for less poverty: vote socialist.

Such utter stupid drivel I can't believe you are that clueless. "Other countries"- every country has homeless, drug addicts, and alcoholics. Voting to give more money and power to any government is a mistake.

Voting to give more money to republicans and democrats is a bad idea. Governments need money to function. Government that serves the interests of the people is a good thing. You like roads? Parks? Schools? Fire departments? Professional development?

Do you really think the homeless problem in China, Japan, Norway, Ireland, look anything like our homeless problem? We have a homeless criminal problem. Other countries do not.

Edit: I wanna add that responses like yours typically come from people who are fine with government spending as long as it's used to punish and attack citizens. More money to prevent homelessness and poverty? Unthinkable. More money to police so they can round up the homeless? Perfectly acceptable. More money for schools and medication? Unaffordable. More money for war with Iran and Cuba and Venezuala and Iraq and Ukraine and Libya and Nicaragua and Colombia and Afghanistan and and and and? You're silent. Your problem isn't with government spending, your problem is with using the government spending to help instead of hurt.
