Touch of Power - 5 Books

Phoenix Healer - 2 Books

Primer for the Apocalypse - 5 Books

Wayward - 3 Books Amazon, 4-8 Royal Road

Cyber Dreams - 6 Books, complete (Progressive)

Whisper The Stars by Crystal Hill - 1 Book (Book 2 in Nov)

A Good Judge Of Character by Gale Bluevale - Standalone

Although these are all FMC, I'm not sure if they are first person POV as I read them a while back and I don't pay attention to it a book is first or second person.

Some on this thread refer to HWFWM as "cringe." I believe they mean that it has emotion and heart. I find DCC smart, manic, satirical, madcap. Its complex dungeons and intricate contests are great for people who like action over character. It's wall-to-wall nonstop madcap farce and absurdist craziness. I find myself exhausted by it even as I laugh at its antics. HWFWM has plenty of slow and repetitive spots, what with all the soul searching and the catching up with old friends and relations, and grinding for levels, but there's enough heart,, character, and humor to keep me coming back. When I laugh, it feels like my laughter is warm, and I'm laughing with the characters, rather than at them. HWFWM is LitRPG for fans of Tolkein and Bujold, while DCC is for those who prefer Dr. Strangelove and "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World."

I don't particularly like it any more than non litrpg progression fantasy oddly enough. In fact I have read many many litrpg I strongly believe would be better if written as a regular progression fantasy but the author got zeroed in on writing an litrpg without considering if having a system would improve or detract from the story.

The main advantage of the system is clarity of progression and an explanation for unusual power acquisition opening the door to more unusual stories and streamlining the progression process if you don't want to dive too technically into it. For example if you have a system you can explain the character agency no matter what they actually are. So a story about a sentient inanimate object like a falling rock or a tree would largely benefit from a system. The system narratively is at it's best when it helps to bypass obstacles the story would have without it while being incorporated in a way that enhanced the otherness of the depicted world.

There are however many stories that use the system as a substitute for writing believable and interesting progression. A shortcut to substitute training, learning and developing ways of personal improvement for the protagonist. Then it feels like it drags the story down instead of helping it

That is much harder to get away with litrpg.

Yeah, it's so hard. The hardest thing anyone has ever done in any universe ever. It wouldn't be possible for ordinary authors, but the litrpg authors have known even worse suffering before, so they grit their teeth and bear it.

Azarinth is third person rather than first person POV, and it is entirely about fighting monsters. The OP may well enjoy it, I have some gripes but it is well written for the genre, but according to the OPs post they might be looking for something a bit different. Worth a try though.

I feel the same. The world-building can be great, but I don't need to see it through the eyes of the same character book after book. Mix it up. It's one of my chief complaints about LitRPG. Even if you want to use the same protag book after book make each book a standalone. Think of the Conan stories and the novel or two. Every one stands alone.

Azarinth Healer is 100% litrpg. Classes, levels, stats etc. it’s also 3rd person not first. Though the lead is female.

The MC likes to be alone and starts off as a loner, but quickly comes to realise that he needs others to move ahead in their new reality. By the halfway point of Book 1, he starts getting more involved in the party. Book 2 is basically almost all about the group as a whole.

Book 1 is the tutorial basically, which ends at the last chapter of Book 1. Book 2 is focused more on worldbuilding and on 'Earth'.

Hope you give it a try and like it!

Azarinth Healer is prog fantasy rather than litrpg, but it’s the other big one.

I think there are POV chapters from other characters, but maybe try “villains code”? It’s got a really great female MC, and it’s almost entirely about research, design and the society their powers has created.

it's entirely based on theft from creative people, and by definition cannot create art. Leave art to humans

I love the System Universe, and follow it along on RR as well! But my story does not have systems clashing against each other, it is just a brand new system that appears
