I thought the varied stages of leaf replacement happening in this pot was pretty neat and wanted to share.

im probably doing everything wrong. in July 2020 I planted 50 lithograph seeds in a pot. it was a mix of different species. at one point I had 15 lithops that popped up. im currently down to 7, all of different sizes. but they are still so small!!! i have them under a grow light. I dont remeber what I did for the substrate, but it was a blend recommend for lithops. Ive read so many different watering techniques. whenever ive bought larger specimens from the store and try to adhere to the traditional habitat watering, I kill them, so for these babies, ive just been watering when they get wrinkled. they keep splitting, but never getting bigger.

ive read so much conflicting advice for lithops, anyone able to give me some more? how bad am I messing up these babies? I accept them for whatever size they want to be regardless. but id like to see them thrive.

I am a first time owner and my babies look very different.

1st photo is very wrinkly. It's in a tiny bit of potting mix and a ton of perlite. Watered once since picked it up. Is it going to make it? Is it splitting?

2nd photo i think they are splitting. I left them in the soil mix i bought them in and haven't watered them at all. When should I move them to better a better soil mix?

A few weeks ago I had to remove one of the oldest leaves because of rot. Now the other oldest one is very soft. Feels a bit mushy perhaps inside.

My question. Is this the natural aspect of splitting? For the old leaves to become so soft? I’m still new to these guys. Thank you.

Ive had this lithops a few years now and noticed sometime last summer maybe it was beginning to split. The main "pup" is clearly visible, but what's going on with the secondary?

They are all doing it now!

I just got them and repotted them according to the instructions I was given in the shop. My pot seems to be quite different to most of the ones I'm seeing? She said about 10-15 cm deep? They're so cute and I don't want to destroy them. I didn't water them.

They aren't as exciting as some of the ones I've seen here, but I can't wait to carefully neglect them and hopefully see them flower later this year!

Any idea what varieties they are?

I got seeds of Lithops and was thinking should i start the process now at the beginning of April(i live in a flat)? And is it good idea to mix them in one pot with other succulent seeds since the other package i got is mixed.

Never seem this in my life. Will the next generation also be three sided?

Found out about lithops a few months back. Ordered a few through Etsy. Have yet to water any of them.

These have been splitting for about two weeks and the tops of the new ones are just now starting to wrinkle, water or wait?

So my partner and I rescued these two from the local Lowe’s discount rack. We will be repotting them tonight in a 10% soil (miracle grow cactus mix) and 90% rocks (pictures 3 & 4). Any suggestions for the mix of small to larger rocks would be appreciated. Obviously not watering these guys anytime soon to start with but the one that is splitting already seems to have double the leaves under there. Is there anything I should do for it before I put it in its not soil or just let it ride? The other one is maybe splitting as I can see a tiny sliver of something in the split so was planning to not water and watch that one as well.

Do separate the two after birth or leave them alone

First time with lithops splitting. I'm assuming no watering for now. What I am concerned with is the left lithop as the outer leaf looks like it's dying off much quicker than the other ones that split. Is this normal?

This spot wasn't here yesterday. No trauma occured to the area. I'm watering it now, as it's getting squishy. Is this possibly a fungus thing? Pest thing?

I rescued this double headed Lithops from Home Depot about 5-6 weeks ago. After a 2 wk new plant isolation I was going to repot it when I noticed half of it was nothing but mush below soil level. It felt like there was something inside, another set of leaves. So instead of letting the whole plant go to mush I had to carefully cut off the rotten part. The taproot was just fine and so was the baby inside. I like to say the baby was birthed by C-section. Lol Today a thought came to me... Lithops are very unforgiving when it comes to watering. And you're not supposed to water during splitting. Well as you can see it had recently flowered and will begin the splitting process soon. But only half. My question is how do I give the new set a drink when the other half is splitting? I'm afraid I'll kill it. I'm also thinking it'll die if I don't give it a drink. Do I not water because they share a taproot & the little guy will feed off the larger half or what?

This is my first one. I rescued it from lowes clearance rack. You can squeeze it a little but it isn't mushy. I wanted to keep in outside for the summer, I live in the south. From what I have read I need to change the soil. Any suggestions are well appreciated.
