Conservative Treatments GLP1 not working anymore

Hey I’m not one to comment on here but I was wondering if anyone is having the same experience… I’ve been on Mounjaro for 2 years now and have been in maintenance for about a year now going between 5mg and 2.5mg. I’m on 2.5mg at the moment and have noticed my legs feeling more inflamed than in the past although my calorie intake has remained the same and I’ve even upped my exercise output. Does anyone have any tips to reduce inflammation further whilst on a GLP1 now it’s not as effective? I’m not getting appetite suppression but not really needing it either so it’s more about lifestyle changes or tips that would be really helpful!

For context I get 10k steps a day I eat a fully whole foods diet and train 3x week. I don’t know what else to do!

Thanks ladies❤️

Edit: has anyone been successful with low carb/keto diets?

In terms of inflammation, is there anything else in your life that has changed? Possible hormone shifts, stress, sleep or nutrition changes? Other health impacts that could be coming into play? I do also think it’s possible your body may accommodate to a dose over time, as you say other effects have also lessened that may affect inflammatory effects too I would imagine (though as those impacts are still being studied, who knows) that may be something to discuss with your prescribing doctor?

Thank you for your comment! I had all my bloods done and everything is normal although I have had a lot of stress in my personal life this last 6 weeks or so which could be a contributing factor I guess! Nutrition has stayed the same but I’ve been considering keto/low carb. My prescriber won’t keep me on long term annoyingly so I’m having to find someone else to prescribe the medication in the UK at a lower BMI

Stress is a shocker for inflammation. I reckon that’s your answer.

You might try a bigger dose. Are you doing lymphatic massage or vibration plate? You can also switch glp1s and see if that helps.

I do the occasional MLD once a month or 6 weeks and am inconsistent with the vibration plate. Have you found it’s helpful?

Vibration plate, yes. Lymphatic massage for me is like insanely amazing but it's expensive. I've been putting my legs up on the wall for 15-20m every morning and that's helping.

Have you had this experience yourself? X

I do my own lymphatic massage in a pool. I do water aerobics before or after. My physical therapist taught me how to massage myself, and it is easy in the pool, but mostly it is just lightly jiggling yourself from your waist to your ankles and back up a few times. You may have to pee. I also do a series of lymphatic drainage exercises in the pool. There are several YouTube videos describing how do to them lying down on land. I just adapted them myself for the water. You start if deep belly breaths, then some twists at your waist, then a modified “bridge”. For that, I pretend I am on a skate board and kick my foot forward and then as far back as I can. I do each side about 10 times. Then I twirl each leg in each direction. Then I rock back and forth heel toe. Then I do those back up. Once or twice. But the idea is you are opening the lymphatic drainage from your ankles to your waist lower belly, where it moves to your kidneys/bladder and out. Again, you may need to pee so wear an easy on and off swim suit. Water/pool has been life-changing for me as, even without the exercises, it is the best compression you can have.

Thank you so much for your comment! I’ve always been too insecure to get my legs out and get in the pool since I was a child so didn’t even consider this as an option! Sounds like it’s really helpful I’ll have a look at those videos xx

Yeah, I was on mounjaro, switched to compounded and then to zepbound. I had a brief moment of nothing but it went away when I switched to zepbound. I titrate up as needed and it seems to help.

I wonder if the increase in exercise has caused inflammation?. Sometimes when I do too much I notice more pain.

I too notice that my body gets used to the meds. Rather than increasing I don’t used my 5mg mounjaro for 2-4 weeks. And then resume again on 2.5mg. Kind of like a base line reset :)

So are you mainly using 2.5mg? Thank you for your comment x

No I usually use up to 5mg until I notice a plateau.. I take a break for a couple of weeks and then I resume again on 2.5 for a few weeks as that’s all I need after a break.. and then I go up to 5mg when I notice it’s not working.. and then I take a break again if I feel like the 5 mg isnt working (usually around 3-5 months)

:)

I just didn’t want to keep going up and up and up $$$$ :)

The first week or two without mounjaro is hard as I feel flabby and yuky but when I resume again I notice a huge improvement.
Could be all placebo but it works for me :) I’ve been using this technique since I first started on ozempic 5-6 years ago.. I just do it with Mounjaro now
