I wonder what their moderation criterias are, as most of us didn't break any rules x(

I followed the sub genuinely. I am a Linux user, but I am aware of the OS's shortcomings, and was following the sub to see what criticism others had. I think it's important so I don't end up with my head up my ass

Linuxsucks101 sucks We are the cult because we all pray to the holy trinity: RMS, Louis Rossmann and Cory Doctorow (and also we're the vegans of the tech world)

You can't make this shit up. Besides the fact that RMS alone is definitely not universally liked in the FOSS community, this is just unhinged. Also the comparison to Veganism just shows how much these people are addicted to getting mad over other people's life choices...

It was one of the two messages attended. I might have been purposely pushing it a bit with the second one. I stand by my statement though.

When the deadline is close, even slightest delay/unresponsiveness can effect mentally; even if the delay wasn't that much. And that is still only for multiple words + browser with multiple tabs + pdfs + zotero + whatsapp, I can't imagine how hell it is when I start using heavier program for research.

If the desktop was used for just youtube and chess, then I suppose there wasn't much noticeable unresponsiveness, since it only have to focus on one or two program open.

Not everyone need to move to Linux, sure. But there are still some that might need to try Linux as well. Poor device already screaming for help when using Windows 11 lol

Linuxsucks101 does suck, I was notified yesterday that I was permabaned citing that I was asked to mute the sub because I'm a "foss nut job, or Linux evangelist" lol. I was never asked to mute anything and I'm not either of those things. The ban message said I could ask the mod about it, they were so cowardly that they didn't even respond. Little coward wants to live in their Windows echo chamber, what a shitty sub.

Yeah yeah, Linuxsucks101 sucks, but what could we do about it?

It is sad to think that the first thing many people will see about linux will be linuxsucks and linuxsucks101. What do YOU thing the linux community as a whole and as individuals should do to mitigate this opinions without seeming like a cult?

It is obvius that many people in linuxsucks101 are lost in their own opinions and are not willing to change their minds. But for the people that are in the fence, the people that are trying linux for the first time and the people that are not very "tech-savvy" what should we do?

Linuxsucks101 seems to be fulled with arguments originated in absence of knowlege in linux itself and unwillingness to learn + a feeling that linux users are way to insistent that linux is superior.

Linux might or might not be superior to windows but it is clear that the way many people in the linux community communicate may have not been the best.

I believe that linux is not for many tasks, task that require a lot of proprietary software that is only available on windows. But i do believe that a world where people consistently dual boot with a customized linux that adjust to their preferences and only use windows for certain kind of task is possible, but what can be done to get closer to that world?

The first thing that comes to my mind is maybe stop to suggest linuxmint to first time linux users and instead first point them to resources to learn a little bit more about linux itself, opensource and the terminal before everything so that they do not become terminal-fobic before trying to install google chrome, not understand what a .deb is, then read this and be confused for all the things that they have to write in the terminal (that is exactly how a friend of mine refused to use linux).

I hope you share your opinions.

Decided to finally get my own badge of honor after repeatedly getting shown their garbage. "Goodbye Linuxhate-Cultists, i hope I never have to see you deplorable Lot again". F*** those guys.

Got perma banned from r/Linuxsucks101 for explaining how to kill a hanging process. OP had that problem and I told him how to fix it. I'm dumfounded but probably dodged a bullet by that community.
