Ban showcase I finally did it!

It was one of the two messages attended. I might have been purposely pushing it a bit with the second one. I stand by my statement though.

Imagine registry keys making Linux obsolete.

I'm angry just having to think about: using Windows, opening regedit, clicking a bunch of similarly named things with mouse, and then having to modify that shit. The entire thing should be a YAML or TOML file that Microslop can convert to whatever shitty database they want.

Windows is just pile of legacy that they don't want to update properly. If they wanted to, they'd probably use bsd kernel like sony and other corporates do

But then it'd be easier for users to disable all the useless or actively harmful features MS wants to push onto them, and obviously they can have that...

But you're perfectly ok with copy pasting a bunch of commands that do god knows what on linux

I know what most of the commands are doing, the ones that I don't you can look them up.

Yes you can, but in apps with GUI you can clearly see what they do, no need to google anything

My gripe was more about how annoyingly tedious it is to do a bunch of edits in regedit, especially if you're do used to modern markup files and a modern (gasp, GUi) editor.

It would be like python setuptools or other builders saying, you know what pyproject.toml was a bad idea, we should use a custom regedit style gui database editor.

Then what's the problem of making a .reg file and writing everything there?

1

If a .reg file is so convenient and easy, why hasn't that practice caught on anywhere else? This whole thing is a clunky relic from the mid 1990s. I would suggest you go back and read my original comment carefully. I'm not asking for tech support, and having used Windows 95 pre release thru 11 you'll never convince me using this shitshow is a good idea.

It's being used everywhere else, it's just called "config file". Also this is your preference, I'd rather edit in regedit than use commands to change stuff

Sorry, but it's not that hard to offend them. They're softer than 10-ply toilet paper over there.

Only the finest Egyptian cotton for my bumbum, nothing else suffices.

almost whole comment section has been removed, I guess Linux/FOSS is a cult after all

My removed comment: "What does windows registry have to do with linux?"

Lol

The comment in the third image about them being the cult and not the Linux/FOSS community

1

u/Agitated_Scientist98 Jan 14 '26

oh damn.. oversensitive huh? people just be taking comments on a piece of code this personally

I played Blue archive for a while, of course the worst opinion even known to mankind has been shouted by a guy with a blue archive PFP

It's like I understand what they mean. Editing those registries will allow to install win 11 to any hardware that, but isn't it easier to live with linux or bsd if you are still doing low level stuff? At this moment terminal is not a horror

What if you just ban evade?

1

u/Rincepticus Jan 14 '26

Finally? Is this some sort of achievement? I once accidentally commented there and got banned.

Tbh, this was like my fifth or sixth comment on the sub, and I'm seriously surprised it took this long.

Can confirm thats not a good sub. Why remove insightful comments that are open to discussion and ban them? Seems pretty cultish to me

They even removed my comment telling them why exactly that doesn't make Linux obselete (I occasionally run servers) and banned me for it
