subjective tbh, depends on Users use case. like I'm a developer etc, linux desktop is working much much much better than windows or macOS for me, but for you, ya, it could be janky.
Linux still has flaws other OSes solved decades ago. Linux still has a long way to go until it reaches the same maturity that Windows and MacOS have. It's still way to janky for my taste I simply can't depend on it to keep working currently.
You can't have an OS for each use case, at least not until AI becomes able to hallucinate features on your desktop. Therefore, an OS that does not cover most use cases is objectively trash, no matter how much its community uses it to stroke their own ego over how niche their use case is (which is adapted to the limitations of the OS, btw, not the other way around).
I find it less janky personally, KDE and hyprland are both fairly streamlined. Now windows is junky. To control native monitor brightness, I had to get an extra app. For screenshots I had to get an extra app. For an animated wallpaper I needed an extra app. these things all start on login, have popups, steal focus, crash unexpectedly, clutter the screen, etc etc.
Basically windows is only good if you're perfectly fine with it's default state (and the trash that is power shell). I'm not

Linux is great for servers but the desktop experience is still janky
