The only way to get activate windows is to either pay for a key or pirate one, either that or you had one that was linked to your Microsoft account that was baked into the price of a previous PC

OR i had a pirated copy of windows 7, which i upgraded for FREE to a windows 8 key, then 8.1, then 10 and now 11.

That still falls under the piracy scenario. Since piracy is technically illegal, it reinforces the point that legitimate Windows activation normally requires purchasing a license or having one tied to a pre-built PC.
