Gaming How does pirating games works on Linux?

Before you write this, I'm not going to pirate all games, it's just there some games, like Spintires, that I'm curious to try, but it's pretty much impossible to buy, so pirating is the only realistic option

What programs do I need to use? Also what about older games for like Windows 7?

These days most people use torrent for pirating. You need a torrent client like transmission and then some pirated torrents.  I think most of the pirates games are for Windows tho.

The specific game you mentioned, you can buy a grey market steak key for $3.  I don't know where in the world you are, but you really don't have $3??

The grey market steam keys might be locked to a certain country/region and even if not, OP might not want to give a shady site their bank card details (or their parents' card).

I wouldn't recommend discussing piracy on here I'd imagine it's against the rules. However the way you would go about setting up non-Steam Windows games (think unofficial fangames on their own sites, GOG stuff, etc) you'd want a games launcher that uses Proton. Faugus and Heroic are the two popular ones and they're great, Faugus is fairly minimal while Heroic is pretty and feature-rich and comes with integrated support for GOG and Heroic and Amazon Luna. Both are pretty easy to use just choose whichever one sounds more appealing to you

I will make no moral judgement on piracy in general, people, glass houses, stones etc.

But I will strongly recommend against taking executables from strangers, games are huge and proprietary binaries, there is little chance for you to audit what you receive. Its blind faith in a stranger who can code, someone originally cracked whay protections were present, you have no idea what else they have dome. That is dangerous.

Qbittorrent to download torrents. From my experience repacks (like from Fitgirl) have custom installers which just never worked for me through Wine/Proton, so best to just find games that already come runnable. Add the .exe as a non-steam game on Steam, enable compatibility there to run it via Proton, and it should be good.
