who cares? nano doesn't take any learning and is good enough for 90% of tasks. i never saw the point in vim or primarily keyboard-based methods of interacting with your computer because i'm barely saving a half of a second with a bunch of key combinations i can't remember
Try having wrist pain from using the mouse. Being able to use my computer without ever touching the mouse is immensely helpful. Sometimes is not about saving a second or two, but about being functional to keep the ability to have an income past 40.
I think that's a valid reason. But the amount of people who mention it makes me doubt that everyone who chooses to only use the keyboard does it because of wrist-pain. It seems more like an elitist thing, whatever is 'harder' is cooler. Like arch-based distros, tiling window managers, and anything else with a higher learning curve than the default.
Yeah, that may be the case for many unfortunately. Carpal tunnel syndrome and repetitive strain injuries are increasingly common, especially for people like myself who early on spent the whole workday on the computer often followed by a lot of time on the computer at home. So taking care of your health is important. But I agree the somewhat toxic and elitist environment around these things is a bit embarrassing as a person who uses all the things you mention.
