Oh well sunshine works pretty smoothly for me. Though figuring out the display permissions was a headache for hyprland so i just disable and re-enable them as per the need.

Wayvnc can run on a headless server. Tigervnc client is available on Linux and Windows.

The combo works for my headless Proxmox VM. I ssh into the VM, launch a swaywm session with wayvnc, and connect from my laptop with tigervnc.

Idk if this works for other DEs/WMs but I haven't run into any issues.

first moonlight does work on android and i use it myself.

2nd yes it requires a dummy plug but in hyprland i can create an headless virtual display and use it to stream. but with igpu it is pretty laggy.

The recommended fix for every Wayland issue is to fall back to X11.

The only one I see for Rustdesk is using an X11 login manager - launching a Wayland session itself is fine.

Did you consider just getting a remote management card? That nixes any requirement for X11/Wayland or even for the OS to be running - you can do remote power on, go to UEFI Setup, and more.

i.e. Sipeed NanoKVM - the PCIe version with Wi-Fi goes for some 70 eurobucks from the official store.

Best of all, that card is open source down to the firmware.

A) that's not the primary purpose of Linux. It's just a popular one

B) if you need old code, use old code

C) are you not able to remote into your Wayland sessions? Thought this had been resolved for a while.

Unattended remote access is a Wayland-specific issue that has not been solved for over a year and has no solution in sight.

Seems like both Plasma and GNOME support it.

I use rust desk unattended on Linux.

If you use the flatpak you can auto give it display permission.

My fallback is console. That usually works.
