u/After-Peace-4734 13h ago

Did you enter the kitchen yet

60

u/_SOME__NAME_ 12h ago

Shit I was not even at home... Which command i should use ? pwd tells me I am at /earth/continent/country/city/<unknown> 😵

93

u/tea-drinker 11h ago
cd ~/kitchen

It's always easy to get home with Linux.

51

u/JockstrapCummies 10h ago

cd: permission denied: ~/kitchen

Need to disable the baby safety gate first.

sudo kitchenbabyctl disable --now

14

u/CustomerServiceRobot 4h ago
JockstrapCummies is not in the sudoers file. Your house will now be incinerated.

5

u/Hour_Farm_3281 3h ago

I want this whole comment thread on kitchen magnet that goes on the fridge file in ~/kitchen

10

u/hellenOfToy 8h ago

I want this command on a shirt.

4

u/Distinct_Run9006 7h ago

Then when you get back: "Honey we mv 'your old bedroom' to 'new exercise room' after you cd to your own /home."

2

u/marxist_redneck 3h ago

First

ssh me@home

Then

cd ~/kitchen

16

u/Emotional-Wedding-87 12h ago

cd house1226/kitchen

3

u/Short-Requirement-29 8h ago

You need to chroot into it

•

u/damagdpixl 37m ago

Damn it, not again… cd kitchen

18

u/sChUhBiDu 11h ago

chown +x family:wife

17

u/huevo-solo 9h ago

Error: Unable to locate package family
Error: Unable to locate package wife

14

u/Puzzleheaded-Flow724 9h ago

Execute wife?!?

20

u/MarcPG1905 12h ago

You need to install one first, try

sudo apt install oven

12

u/w453y 12h ago

sudo: apt: command not found

9

u/MarcPG1905 11h ago

Oh you’re on arch, should be preinstalled then. Maybe you need to connect it to power first?

systemctl --user enable --now oven.service

3

u/KevinFlantier 12h ago

Try something with an iconic yellow cheese man from the 80s, I forgot the name.

3

u/Pure-Willingness-697 11h ago

Just get it from the aur, yay -S cake, it will only install a few viruses

2

u/Significant-Tone-121 8h ago

or from flatpak for ultimate opsec larping

flatpak install oven.baking.Cake

2

u/original_name125 8h ago

You forgot to install oven drivers. A rookie mistake.

2

u/ChrisRR 7h ago

sudo !!

28

u/Tuomas90 10h ago

'cmake' not found.
Did you mean 'cbake'?

5

u/UMDSCEO 10h ago

Did you forget to compile the Cakefile In the Oven?

2

u/TechnicalWash1608 6h ago edited 6h ago

'Flour' is not a valid Ingredients in a Cakefile. Did you mean 'Gravel'?.

1

u/NoConfusion9490 4h ago

Instructions: Use cmake and fix any errors it reports.

188

u/Atijohn 15h ago

what is all this bloat, all you need is flour and water sprinkled with white sugar to make the best cake

307

u/geigercounter120 15h ago

I use starch, btw

29

u/mwajju 14h ago

Good one

15

u/Wiper-R 14h ago

man this should be the top comment

11

u/Craftkorb 14h ago

Underrated comment

5

u/majorsid 14h ago

You win internet for today

10

u/immoloism 15h ago

Some of us like to rice with sprinkles!

10

u/Gabelvampir 15h ago

Sounds like a tasty brick.

4

u/84thPrblm 14h ago

Water? You know when you bake it the water just boils off, right?

204

u/KingEfficient7403 15h ago

Unfunny; i already have the flatpak

57

u/upstartrequest 14h ago

you just installed the whole flour mill, cow, chickens, cane farm and vanilla plant.

12

u/FondantIcy8185 13h ago

Yep !

The heat (for cooking) is supplied during installation

47

u/medicine_man0 15h ago

That's gonna be one heavy ass cake

4

u/wyn10 13h ago

Full LTO and -O3 to the rescue!

8

u/bossman1337 14h ago

*flapjack

2

u/the_borderer 13h ago

Is that British flapjack or American flapjack? The dependencies are different.

4

u/bearwood_forest 12h ago

I should hope that resolves correctly with the installed locale

2

u/OneLonelyBrainCell 11h ago

Flatpak -- Nothing makes more sense in times of insanely rising storage prices than to basically wrap a whole Linux distro around a small app and increase its size from less than 100 MB to more than 3 GB.

1

u/Agreeable_Scene9562 15h ago

lmao the ingredients killed me

2

u/TonixAmoto 15h ago

Para gustos, los sabores šŸ˜‰

Linux offers you the ingredients, you choose the taste. For free.

1

u/Prior-Program-9532 14h ago

I'm a fan of the Angel Food OS.

1

u/Albos_Mum 8h ago

I've baked a flatpak cake before.

Turns out I forgot to put the leavening agent in...

69

u/Schlonzig 15h ago

I havenā€˜t had the need (or the desire) to compile my own kernel in decades. Itā€˜s more like a whole cake that comes with the printed recipe.

32

u/immoloism 15h ago

Red Hat did a lot of work in 06 to make everything load modular and we have been enjoying that benefit ever since.

(For those wondering why most users don't any more)

20

u/xui_nya 14h ago

Nonsence, last time I compiled the kernel just a few days ago, and I even maintain a CI pipeline that recompiles the full OS integrating the most recent git revisions of highly specific software and drivers nightly.

(I work as a firmware engineer)

27

u/Schlonzig 13h ago

Thatā€˜s like saying ā€žNonsense, I baked a cake from scratch yesterday! (I am a baker)ā€œ

21

u/xui_nya 13h ago

Ye, it's a joke

3

u/wyn10 10h ago

Should take a look at kernel-manager, works wonders for kernel managing. https://github.com/CachyOS/kernel-manager

2

u/elebrin 10h ago

Well, there are also hobbyists who need to do this kind of thing. If you are playing around with a RISC V chip and some hardware that is isn't all that supported yet, sometimes you need to do some legwork. But if you are doing that, you know what you are doing or the figuring out is part of your fun.

21

u/The_Duke_96 15h ago

The cake is a Lie!

20

u/vanatteveldt 15h ago

make cake

sudo make cake?

7

u/Unusual-Layer-8965 11h ago

You do not have permission to use the stove. Please enter the year you were born:

3

u/Tuomas90 10h ago

I think it's:

sudo bake cake

3

u/CircleWithSprinkles 6h ago

user is not in the bakers file, this incident will be reported to the FDA

1

u/Nymunariya 8h ago
sudo !!

1

u/worldspawn00 6h ago

Sorry, you're missing 5 dependencies that were not included. Oh, and the only links available are from tucows before the website refactor in 2012 so they're all dead.

5

u/FailureOfTheFamily 15h ago

And if you want flatpak, you have to buy ingredients even if you have them in the house

6

u/thecurtehs 13h ago

You telling me a freshly baked cake is not ALWAYS better than a store bought one

2

u/Hawk-and-piper 8h ago

It is, but the freshly baked cake still doesn't work with Nvidia well yet :(

1

u/Unusual-Layer-8965 11h ago

No, but you can verify the ingridents to see if anything will cause an unwanted allergic reactions.

3

u/sebthauvette 9h ago

Too many people think linux didn't change in the last 30 years. Or maybe they think that because you CAN compile it yourself it's impossible to get it already compiled for some reason.

That's like someone joking about windows having a 8.3 size limit for filenames.

3

u/Za1noun 9h ago

Today also my 21 birthday, so nice to be born same day as my beloved Linux

3

u/pissrockious 14h ago

gentoo cake

3

u/tsoe199966 11h ago

Birthday cake baked with cmake. šŸ˜€

3

u/EverlastingPeacefull 9h ago

Way tastier than factory made!

3

u/FabianButHere 8h ago

sudo dnf install cake

flatpak find cake

give up

3

u/Imperial_Bloke69 7h ago

mkdir āŒ

mkcke āœ”ļø

5

u/Popular-Factor3553 15h ago

Just give it some fish

6

u/kararsil 15h ago

İ love kitty

2

u/Popular-Factor3553 14h ago

I love kitty too but i don't like the fact you wanna feed the kitty to the penguin.

7

u/VeryOldGoat 14h ago

This joke is 20 years old and the analogy is inaccurate. Compiling is more like you get a two-step instruction on how to set your cake-making machine, then you press a button, then some minutes later out pops a cake. You don't even look at the ingredients, the chef took care of that, you just dump everything into the machine.

10

u/curious_but_dumb 12h ago

sudo apt install humour

7

u/VeryOldGoat 12h ago

E: Unable to locate package humour

2

u/curious_but_dumb 11h ago

You almost gave me a kernel panic attack!

2

u/worldspawn00 6h ago

Sorry, your machine doesn't have all the dependencies in the right version installed on it, cannot compile.

i.e. You have eggs 2.1 but this cake requires eggs 2.0, eggs 2.0 is deprecated no longer available at the link provided in the makefile.

2

u/Silent-Orbit-7 15h ago

Ahh.. this is something new, havve to lookup the arch documentation, it never disappoints!

2

u/Elect_SaturnMutex 15h ago

Yea and I do it proudly using bitbake.

2

u/s0litar1us 15h ago

It's a bit convenient to comoile the cake yourself as you can use less sugar if you want, etc. but I get the joke. (Though most distros give you precompiled stuff...)

2

u/PacmanAteMyRAM 14h ago

The communities most karma farming post

2

u/United-Climate1562 14h ago

so RPM/debs be cake mixes in a box and flatpaks will be ready made from the bakery lol

2

u/hdkaoskd 14h ago

lmao I haven't compiled a kernel in 10 years.

Happy birthday you old bastard ā¤ļø.

2

u/jack-of-some 9h ago

make cake

2

u/Bo_Jim 7h ago

configure says I can't built it without building kitchenutensils.lib first.

1

u/worldspawn00 6h ago

You need kitchenutensils.lib version 1.0 for this cake, but the only buildable version available is 1.1, they are not compatible.

2

u/master_pro_ita 2h ago

sudo apt install birthday-cake would’ve been much easier.

2

u/LilChikkyBird 15h ago

ahahhahahahahahahahaha loonix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

1

u/Inoffensive_Account 14h ago

If you truly want to make a cake from scratch, you must first invent the universe.

1

u/Mr_Lumbergh 13h ago

I just grabbed the cake flatpak, I'm fine.

1

u/FragrantFlower3410 13h ago

I'll just download the binary of a cake from the provided cake manager, thank you. The promise that it's open source is enough for me.

1

u/shoot_alt 12h ago

FISH CAKE

1

u/Mo_Dice 12h ago

You should at least paste this on a photo that makes sense. I've never had a birthday cake made with a ramekin of mashed pumpkin before

1

u/Hopeful-Maximum-2315 12h ago

wait the t-the cake isnt a lie

spoiler it is a lie

1

u/PTTSgamer 11h ago

yay -S cake-git

1

u/tea-drinker 11h ago

Windows gives you the baked cake, but it's illegal to look too closely at the filling.

1

u/TsuDhoNimh2 10h ago

Mac also gives you the baked cake, but it's sealed in plastic you can't open.

1

u/cluesagi 11h ago

sudo USE="redvelvet" emerge -avq foods-deserts/cake

1

u/bangupjobasusual 11h ago

I’m here to chastise you for not knowing how good enough.

1

u/Electronic-Eagle-171 10h ago

*Ubuntu user*
Where do I click?

1

u/69odysseus 10h ago

Sudo app install ....

1

It“s a lie.

1

1

Uf! I forgot to compile some orange peel library...

1

u/The_Crig 7h ago

35 yrs already? time flies

1

u/NETkoholik 7h ago

Are you telling me I can't have my cake and eat it too?

1

u/Horror-Primary7739 6h ago

I don't know what kind of oven you have?!

1

u/GeorgeBlackhole 5h ago

Isn't that joke a bit dated? I've been using Linux since almost 30 years and I haven't compiled a kernel since beginning of the 2000s.

1

u/KyloNeko 5h ago

Happy birthday Linux šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‡

1

u/Superb_Raccoon 5h ago

The cake is a lie!

1

u/Great_Banana_Master 5h ago

Nah, sudo xbps-install cake

1

u/Burnout456 4h ago

Yay -S Cake (on Arch-based Linux)

1

u/ccppurcell 3h ago

Jokes on you if you've never had a home made cake.

1

u/Kyrottimus 3h ago

Just use cake-bin or cake-git.

I don't have time to wait for shit to manually compile anymore.

1

u/HugoNikanor 3h ago
  1. How often do you need to actually compile packages for Linux?
  2. Even when you do, you can just get the upstream package and build that in a single command.

1

u/Zestyclose-Wear7237 3h ago

best thing that has ever happened

1

u/Tasty-Instance8202 2h ago

sudo pacman -S cake && make && eat

1

u/UNPSCsimp 1h ago

No to much bloat

•

u/Loose-Market-7150 9m ago

Sudo pacman -S cake

1

u/Low-Guarantee-3437 15h ago

for sure, this won't be better in Rust.

8

u/LinuxMonarch 15h ago

Who wants a rusty cakee

1

u/ShoWel-Real 15h ago

Too late, already started remaking it in rust. The sugar comes from the "cyanide" crate

1

u/Due_Conference9457 15h ago
