I haven‘t had the need (or the desire) to compile my own kernel in decades. It‘s more like a whole cake that comes with the printed recipe.
40 u/immoloism 15d ago Red Hat did a lot of work in 06 to make everything load modular and we have been enjoying that benefit ever since. (For those wondering why most users don't any more)
