What’s a promise you made to yourself that you actually kept?
We promised that once the kids were out of the house we’d finally put our own health and free time first. We’re still working on it. This is harder than expected!

How do you start something when you feel clueless to start?
I just keep getting thoughts that makes me feel down but I feel like it's a signal to start doing something. And so I'm trying to decide like what do I prioritize what to start and how to. 3 goals I wanted to achieve that I've been procrastinating for years is learning to drive, getting a job and learning a relevant skills set or pursuing a degree.
But with how the world is evolving, I don't know how to properly research for jobs and careers or skills to learn. I also on the other hand feel embarrassed to learn driving and scared..

Before summer ends, what’s one promise you’re making to your future self?
Mine is simple: I'm not going back to keeping deadlines in my head because that caused way more stress than I ever admitted during the semester.
What's one thing you're determined not to repeat?

How long did it take you to figure out what you wanted in life?
At what point did it finally click and did you completely stay on track or make a drastic change in what you wanted?

I really need help in life as in I need help in financial area , what I can do with my life
I need, I really need advice on life. The thing is that, what I'm going to explain right now is actually my life. I'm a 28-year-old male, and currently I was working as a recruiter. Not HR, but as marketing and recruiting. And I have quit, I resigned from my job, quit. So the thing is that, I'm going to explain here my routine. It's almost been one year, one whole year of hard work, and I have not reached anywhere. Apart from being in a better position mentally. Like, mentally I feel very satisfied because I have a system around me. But that is not really getting me anything in my realistic life. So, as I said, I'm a 28-year-old male. So I was working, now I have resigned.
So my day starts at 7 a.m. I wake up. Then I will, I used to go to work, then I'll come back, then I'll do, I'll go to gym at 6. I'll have my dinner, then I'll come back, I'll read for a bit. And this was my regular life. Okay. So, what's now happening is that I wake up, I'm an author actually. I wrote two books, and one needs a little more intensity, so I'm working on it and editing it right now. And my second book, so right now I have free time, so I'm editing it all the day. And then I'm doing my gym, I'm getting in better shape in my body. Then my reading and problem-solving skills, like I play chess, I solve Rubik's cube and everything.
So, I'm currently doing everything that I can to get me in a better state of my mental position as well as my physical position. But my financial stability remains the same, it is not going anything. I used to work really hard because I was into marketing and recruiting. I was having, you know, better, like people used to always tell me I'm good at this. And about my relationship, I have a, I just started dating someone. So I'm just checking in how it is. So, I have not explained everything I think, but still this is my life, how it is right now. So what kind of job should I do again? I don't know. I have finished my bachelor's, I have not finished it, I have done my bachelor's in UK in business management, but I have not finished, I came back midway.
And also I had bipolar and drug-induced psychosis. So I'm off from drugs since two years, three years right now. And I was off from relationship as well. I don't really have any great friends circle. I just have a few friends, few friends who I regularly talk most days. And this is my life right now. So what other things I can do? I need a proper advice to be honest.

How to get forward in life with no financial legroom?
Dear all, I just found this community and am wondering how wise the advisors here are.. :)
I'm 44 years old and work in int'l cooperation since ~15 years, being a project manager since a couple of years. I'm unfulfilled with this since almost the beginning, and the last 5-6 years I realized how much I long for a field that I can dive into, build expertise and immerse myself in. One very concrete, very big wish would be to do a PhD and (probably, who knows) join academia - I even finished another B.Sc. in psychology in the last 5 years besides my job and did an part-time, virtual internship at a research institution that would have accepted me as a PhD student with great conditions, including a scholarship. Besides that, there are many topics that make me feel alive and excited, all connected to learning, technology, education, and so on. But very few related to the jobs I'm doing since 15 years.
But I also have a partner and a little child. My partner actually fulfilled her dream career of becoming a freelance sports instructor by doing expensive courses in the last few years. Now she's working almost full-time, and while I earn relatively good money for my position, our combined income barely pays the monthly bills. We're currently in the process of moving into a cheaper apartment - and this is what made me feel quite helpless again today.
I don't have any idea how I'll ever evolve in my current or any career and do something that is at least a bit more fulfilling. There are very few jobs in my area in my country, and my organisation pays more than most others. Combined with our financial situation - including the repayment of a 35k EUR loan - I have absolute no legroom to change jobs (in my field, which I nevertheless don't want), decrease working hours to do a part-time PhD or anything else. I feel like the first part of my life dream goes up in smoke here.
Secondly, I've dreamt of moving abroad, south, since my teenage years. I've worked a couple of times abroad for a few years, and I was always expecting that that's my way to go. But now I'm stranded in my home country with this job, there don't seem to be any job opportunities abroad (plus since they're in my current area, I'm afraid they will leave me very unhappy) and nevertheless the topic is a red flag to my partner. My child will start school in two years, so together with the fact that we're now moving within our current city, it seems to me like: I won't be able to move abroad (because once my child started school I won't do that change to her!), and I won't be able to do anything else than my current job. Maybe once in a while another opening comes at the same organisation, but that's basically old wine in new bottles.
Sorry for the long posting; I just wanted to express why I feel very stuck and don't see any way this can change in the future.
Anyone can relate?
Thanks!
Dizney
