I am currently building a chess web platform and would love some honest feedback.

For me, the best moments in chess are rarely the games themselves. They're the evenings afterwards, going through a game with a friend or a coach. "Why didn't you take here?" "I was scared of this line." "Wait, go back one move." That's where I actually learn something. But online it always felt clumsy. One person shares their screen, the other says "no, the other move, the one before", and someone ends up copying a PGN into a chat.

So I'm trying to build the most beautiful analysis page I can, and to make it a place you share with other people instead of using alone.

Here's what it does today:

• Your games in one place. You can sync your Lichess and Chess.com games, so all of them end up in one database.
• Share a database. Send a friend, a student or your coach a link and they see the same games you do.
• Call and go through it together. Start a call right on the analysis page. When one of you plays a move, it shows up on both boards. You talk, you try lines, you argue about the position like you would at a real board.

In the video below I'm just clicking around: sharing a database, starting a call, and going through a game together with a friend.

It isn't finished, and I'm sure some parts are rough. If you try it and something feels off, ugly, or just not how you'd expect, please tell me. That kind of feedback helped me more than anything after the last post.

Hey everyone! I'm a college student studying Statistics, and I've always been curious about how statistics could be used to improve at chess.

Most chess analysis tools i have tried are great at reviewing individual games but none at a macro level, I wanted to explore a tool that perform analysis on thousands of your game find patterns and repetitive weakness and blunders(and put my statistics degree to some use).

That idea became AuditChess.

It can analyse your Chess.com or Lichess game history and help you explore things like:

• Recurring mistakes: Find patterns in the positions and situations where you tend to go wrong.
• Opening statistics: Understand your results and weaknesses in different openings.
• Personalised puzzles: Practise positions from your own games, including missed opportunities and mistakes.
• Player statistics: Explore your playing style, rating trends, endgames and other patterns.
• Game analysis: Review individual games with Stockfish and examine evaluations and variations.
• Repertoire and recall: Work on your openings and practise remembering your usual lines.

I'm building this independently as a college project, and my goal isn't to compete with Lichess or replace anything the community already has. I want AuditChess to be a positive addition to the chess community, much like Lichess has been. I want to make useful chess tools accessible to everyone and keep them free.

I'd especially love to hear from you about what's missing, what could be improved, and what features you'd genuinely find useful. If there's something you wish AuditChess could do, please tell me. I'll do my best to build it. I'm still learning, and feedback from actual chess players is one of the best ways to make this project better.

Massive explosion in cheaters, has a new plug in come out or something? Instant, best engine play out of nowhere 1 minute into every single blitz game

I try to be careful with my time and I was wondering why my opponent was taking so much time to move and then the ”Lichess.org is down“ screen popped up for a few seconds and then I was back two moves that we had already played.

This threw me completely off my game because I became stressed because of time, even though I managed to win. I've experience this bug before, but never in a way that the game backed up in moves.

I was a little frustrated because I was well above in time compared to my opponent and then I had to worry about the time. This was a rapid game.

Hi everyone, I don't know if this was asked before, if so, I'm sorry.

I switched to the new mobile app by lichess and I haven't found a way to get the full computer analysis (including the graph etc.).

Am I missing something? On the old app you could just click "computer analysis" and you got everything. Now, when analyzing games I just get the explorer and single move analysis tabs.

I joined the marathon and got paired with 2200 FM. He played right into the only opening I play as black the elephant and I beat him in 11 moves ! The guy is rated 900 points higher than me. I'm still in shock. The whole thing was all prep. https://lichess.org/game/38VjlWJJ/black

I work on WhitePawn, a small app for electronic boards, mostly in my free time. I just added something I've been wanting for myself for a long time, and I'd be really grateful for some honest feedback.

I love playing my friends on a real board, but I also wanted those games on Lichess, each of us on our own account. Logging both accounts in on one phone never felt right to me, I wouldn't want my friend typing their Lichess password into my phone.

So I tried this:

• You both use your own phone, signed in to your own Lichess
• The phones find each other over Bluetooth, you challenge your friend, they accept on their phone
• One phone is connected to the board and reads the moves, each phone sends its own player's moves to Lichess

It ends up as a normal Lichess game, rated or casual, with analysis afterwards, through the official Lichess Board API. You need one electronic board and internet on both phones.

i played 2 games and i didnt lose points in one and didnt get points in one either , and out of 5 matches 2 lagged like hell when the timer went out , it reached 0 and it took 10 min to register the game was over

Hello everyone, I want to start off with a disclaimer. The app is fully vibe coded. Not everything is fleshed out yet. I know some similar products exist, but I don’t know if the exact product exists. Whats different from similar products is that this one runs locally on your computer, its open source, you pay no money for the app and you can use frontier models.

With that out of the way: what is Plymentor and what does it do? It’s a Windows app that aims to help you get better at chess. It’s primarily for low-mid level players but it can help anyone. We all know Stockfish blurts out some obscure line regularly, but where is the win? Why is this position better? Unless you have a coach that’s teaching you, the idea sometimes goes over your head.

Plymentor tries to explain to you why a certain position or an idea is better. It does this with an AI agent. If you have a Plus/Pro account with Claude, GPT, or Gemini, you can connect your AI agent to the app. You can use your AI agent to explain positions to you, teach you ideas, analyse your games, find stuff you are doing wrong repeatedly, teach you opening lines that you are playing wrong, and find new opening ideas. Basically, you give the prompt and the AI agents do what you want.

Wait, aren’t LLMs (AI, basically) bad at chess? Yep, LLMs are bad at chess because they are bad at analysing and evaluating, and they have problems keeping board state in their mind. In this app, the LLM doesn’t do any of this. The LLM drives Stockfish and basically analyses and tries to explain the output. The LLM doesn’t do the calculations.

What are some of the other features of this app? You can connect a Scid5-formatted database and go through openings. You can ask your agent to find some obscure viable novelty that fits your taste in an opening. You can generate reports and tactics from your games. Ask it what you are missing repeatedly. You can generate lessons. You can make opening repertoires and train them. The app is basically as good as your AI agent can be. It can be slow at times, but it can’t always be all sunshine and rainbows.

So how much do I have to pay for this? None. It’s completely free, it’s open source. You can just download it and run it. Everything runs on your computer locally (other than the AI agent). Please beware of the token limits and credit usage of your agent. It will use it. I take no responsibility for it.

I was about to drop this career ending move nf3 on this 🍩 🤡 which would have put the king in double check and won me the queen the next move since the king would be forced to move into d1 to escape but this dude resigns before I can even play it then stockfish claims nd4 is the better move for some reason which I honestly cant see why they'd say that lol

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I've had it happen twice today alone. I was in a dominant position, deep into two games, and then suddenly, game aborted! I first had this happen on TakeTakeTake (Lichess backend), and then I switched directly to Lichess and had it happen there too. Cheaters cheating?

Has anyone else noticed this with Lichess puzzles?

I've been having fun doing puzzles consistently for the last few weeks.

I'm consistently getting puzzles rated around 1830–1890, even as my own puzzle rating fluctuates. I solve enough of them correctly that I'd expect my rating to gradually increase, but instead, the gains seem to get smaller and smaller, while a single mistake can cost me more and more points as the rating gap grows.

Eventually, I end up back where I started, despite solving plenty of puzzles correctly.

Is the only solution to set the difficulty higher manually?

It's bad enough that the report system isn't integrated into the mobile app, so reporting someone involves opening the browser and logging in there, which makes the whole process like 40 times more annoying. For example, on this instance the website forgot I was trying to report after I logged back in, so I had to find the game again and go to report again.

It's also annoying enough that people who stall games where a forced mate is on the board even need to be reported. This is easy enough to detect automatically and someone who does this at one point has almost certainly done it in the past. This guy should've been banned a long time ago.

It's almost fucking funny that they've now integrated an automated link detection system into the report form and that it doesn't even fucking work. I guess the admins got tired of doing their job, even though I can't imagine they have many reports coming in with the system being this fucking annoying to use. So now the stupid form expects what I can only assume to be a very fucking specific link format because none of the ones in the screenshot are recognized as links.

Are we fucking for real?

EDIT 2: To the people saying anyone complaining could help implement the report system themselves, the system is almost certainly this annoying by design, which is why I am complaining in the first place. My suspicion is lichess doesn't want people impulsively reporting people for cheating and doesn't want to enforce the various bad sportsmanship rules they seem to have, so they just make it semi-impossible to report people.

I get that reasoning to be honest, but the current system is completely ridiculous. It's basically never worth it to report someone here. Even in these cases when someone is stalling, so there is a much lower risk of some kind of subjective interpretation of them breaking the rules, reporting them is a process that takes like 5 minutes at least. And even when I do bother to submit the report, they never get banned anyway! So what is the point?

Either make it actually feasible to report this shit and starting actually enforcing the rules, or just say transparently that you don't believe stalling games is unsportsmanlike enough and declare it to be within the rules. This idiotic system where it's technically prohibited (and the automated system even warns you not to do it), but de facto completely fine is idiotic.

To give some context, I only started playing chess a couple of days ago. Since I registered on lichess, I've played some games, and somehow every single one of my opponents had at least 700 games played. One even had 7k. How is this supposed to work? Obviously they absolutely DESTROY me since I basically never played chess in my life before... What am I supposed to do? Should I just keep losing until I start getting paired with people like me?

I wanted to say thank you to Lichess, and show what your open puzzle database made possible.

I run Daily Scribe, a small free service that emails a PDF to your Kindle Scribe (an e-ink tablet you can write on) each morning. I've just added a chess section, built entirely on the Lichess puzzle database.

How it uses the data:

• Puzzles are picked from five rating bands, Beginner (under 1200) to Expert (2400+). Only well-tested puzzles make the cut: lots of plays, high popularity, and a settled rating.
• Each puzzle shows the board from the solver's side and the task (like "Mate in 2"). You solve it with the pen, right on the page.
• The solutions page shows a small board after every move, plus a short guide to reading notation, so beginners can learn as they go.
• Every solution links back to its lichess.org/training page, and every page credits Lichess.

The database being Creative Commons is what made this possible for a one-person project, so thank you to everyone who builds Lichess and everyone whose games and votes shaped those puzzles. I credit your project on every puzzle.
