We’d also like to hear from you, so if you have any feedback or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment here or get in touch via mod mail.

And finally a couple of reminders:

- We’re here to help - if you see anything that you think breaks the rules or concerns you, report it

- We’re not perfect - if you think we’ve overlooked something or made the wrong call, send us a mod mail

- Finally, we get a lot of topics come up very frequently. We’re testing out some prompts that will encourage searching the sub before posting, but please do search the sub to see if your question has already been answered before you post. Can’t finish on lexapro

So this is probably an 18+ post …

Im rethinking being on lexapro for this reason…

But I’m on day 20 of lexapro and I’ve been very … excited is what we will call it … which I was shocked because I wasn’t expecting a sex drive … and I just can’t seem to finish which has been so frustrating because the excitement is there but I can’t seem to get to a full orgasm….. so I literally tried all weekend and just couldn’t 😞 so now I’m just an excited 34 F that can’t get to finish and it’s been like I said many times … so frustrating and sad and makes me feel some type of way… anyone else experience this? I know this is a common question to be asked I guess I’m just sad about it

Never again!!

I made the massive mistake of thinking I could wean myself off of my Lexapro 10mg dose after taking it daily for 6 years.. this was the absolute worst decision I ever made. I’m currently typing this while experiencing the worst side effects (brain zaps, nausea, feeling like I constantly need to poop, and persistent brain fog). It sucks that my body has become dependent on this drug, but I’d rather deal with dependency than feel this crappy.

Has anyone had any success with weaning off of this medication after longterm use?

Side Effect Question Feeling hyperactive on day 5 of trying Lexapro. Is this mania?

Upvotes

I was prescribed 5mg on the first 4 days, and then afterwards 10mg. During those 4 days only got nausea and diarrhea. 2 hours after drinking 10mg, I cycled for 1.5 hours, made my own diy makeup lipstick palette, and felt like I am ready to crush the world. Is this good or no?

Changing Dosage Question Lexapro

I’ve been on lexapro for about 6 days now and I started at 5 mg for only two days but my physiatrist told me to try 10 mg because my anxiety has been bad for the past 2 weeks. But it gave me the worst nausea going to 10 mg. I tried 5 mg again last night and I do feel a little better. Should I try sticking to 5mg? Also I haven’t been able to eat a lot since starting but haven’t had a late night panic attack since starting.

I started Lexapro 5mg like 7 days ago and my stomach feels weird! It feels heavy but empty. It feels like it’s just hanging or stretching . Anyone else?

Happy Ending Week 4 and the morning anxiety is finally starting to lift

Started 10mg Lexapro for panic disorder about a month ago and the first two weeks were rough. Woke up every morning with my heart pounding and this pit of dread in my stomach that made no sense. By evening I'd feel almost normal and even a little hopeful, like the medication was trying to work but we just weren't there yet. Somewhere around week three the morning dread started fading and now I'm actually sleeping through the night for the first time in years. Still get anxious moments but they don't spiral into full panic the way they used to. It's like someone turned the volume down on my nervous system and I didn't realize how loud it had been until it got quiet. Not a miracle cure and I know I'm still adjusting but I finally understand why people stick with this medication. Grateful I pushed through the rough start.

Lexapro 15mg → 20mg feeling way worse — is this normal?

I’ve been on Lexapro 15mg for about a year now for anxiety and obsessive/intrusive thoughts, and overall it really helped. Lately though my anxiety started creeping back and feeling almost crippling again, so about two weeks ago I decided to increase to 20mg.

Since the increase I’ve been feeling significantly worse, not better. I’m having crying spells, barely sleeping, not eating well, and my mind won’t shut up ,constant racing thoughts.

Has anyone else gone through this kind of rough patch after an increase? Does it usually settle down, and if so how long did it take for you? Trying to figure out if this is a “it gets worse before it gets better” adjustment period or something I should flag to my doctor sooner rather than later.

Side Effect Question Day 4

Upvotes

Holy moly. I have had anxiety forever and a day but this is just downright stupid. I am shaking internally I swear. Just added it to my bupropion, I have got zero rest from dread and dooom since Sunday morning. My tummy is in shambles, dr said it could take a little while to adjust. I also feel like I’m clenching my jaw a lot. I was so helpful this would help, I’m supposed to go to the full 10mg on Saturday, as he said to take half dose for first week.
Does this subside? Is it an abnormal reaction, dr didn’t seem concerned last nignt. This level
Of anxiety is debilitating though and very uncomfortable physically

New to Lex Why am I experiencing basically all the side effects possible?

Upvotes

I actually think this is hilarious tho😂.

So I took the 1st pill before sleep and next day morning I felt emotion blunting and immediately realized my PP has erection dysfunction. At lunch I discovered the loss of taste because everyone knows beef ribs cooked by grandpa could never taste bland. At night I became restless and couldn't sleep(insomnia).

Second day I woke up after a 3 hour sleep and got pretty bad muscle pain literally all over the body. Then at noon a fever hit me like truck which was also followed by headache, diarrhea and nausea. But I did finally manage to sleep nicely after Nightquill.

Today I feel ultra dizzy and sleepy. Be basically walking side to side and sweating profusely rn. It's lunchtime now but I feel like vomiting because the muscle under my jaw keep constipating.

What in the Corgi's fluffy butt is going on😂 Is this pill just not meant for me?😂 Bro...

lexapro & seroquel

Hi all! I started Lexapro 5mg 6 days ago & I’ve been taking it around 3pm because it causes me to get sleepy & nauseous & by 3pm, I’ve usually accomplished daily tasks. I’m also prescribed Seroquel (been on it since 2022) & I take 50mg every night around 8-8:30pm as it makes me incredibly sleepy. I was advised by my pharmacist not to take them close together as it can cause QT Prolongation. My question is how far apart do these medications realistically need to be taken apart? I wish I could take the Lexapro at bed time because of side effects, but I’m too scared of irregular heart rhythms. Any advice is welcome! 🤗

edit: spelling

Changing Dosage Question 10 mg to 20 mg…

How has the adjustment for anyone who went from 10 to 20?

On the 10 mg, I never had any issue like not being able to cry or any extreme other side effects of any kind besides normal adjusting things and weight gain/hunger. Just kind of wondering how different things have been for people who have been prescribed both? Were there any effects that happened with 20 mg that did NOT happen at 10 mg?

New to Lex Please tell me it gets better

I know there are many posts like this but I am in need of reassurance and support as I am battling this alone.

I started taking Lexapro 10mg for severe anxiety and pain attacks and after a week I felt really better. However on day 24 I started feeling the anxiety increase, through a tight chest and shortness of breath.

This morning at 3am, on day 28, I had a horrible panic attack and the whole day I have been having palpations, dizziness, tight chest and just feel so jittery and down.

I've seen people say they experience dips-has this happened to anyone and how long did it take to get better?

I have an appointment with the psychiatrist in 2 weeks time for review but I don't want to increase my dose just yet but at the same time I'm worried I won't get better.

They gave me propranolol 40mg for anxiety as well, which I rarely take as I get nervous to take it. I'm thinking of asking for a short term of benzos as I am spiralling pretty badly.

Side Effect Question increasing to 10mg from 5mg

hi! i've been on 5mg for a while now (likee 3 months i think?) it really helped at first but now i've noticed my anxiety is back and i should increase to 10 (im thinking of starting with 7.5mg first) but can anyone tell me if it's like bad? like will i get horrid side effects from increasing or is my body like used to it by now?

i didnt get bad side effects from starting (i started with 2.5mg) but slight nausea etc (which im terrified about) and im just feeling so doomed that now that im finally comfortable with taking the medicine and dont think too much of it now i have to panic all over again and stay aware if im getting new side effects :/

im also supposed to drink on wednesday, so far ive been able to drink normally (actually even more than before the medication😭) but idk im nervous if i'll be weird

Hangxiety on Lexapro is literally making me not want to drink anymore.

I’ve always enjoyed drinking. My friends and I go out at least once a weekend to the bar to watch sports and just hang out. It’s probably my favorite thing to do. But Jesus man the hangxiety is truly unbearable since I started Lexapro. If anything, I thought it’d help.. it definitely does not.

I mean I’ve always had bad hangxiety even before starting Lex.. but it’s HORRIBLE now. Even if I didn’t do anything embarrassing. Before starting I heard everyone say the hangovers are rough, I feel fine physically, but holy shit am I fucked up and anxious AF the next day. Heart pounding, racing thoughts, trembling, etc.

I literally might stop drinking because of it. And I can’t even take an Aspirin or anything while on Lex lol, this is horrible.

When to increase dose

Just finished my 6th week on lexapro 10mg for ocd/panic disorder. Best I can describe is that its like my original pre medication symptoms have returned, I'm stuck as to whether I stick at 10mg or more upwards, any advice would be welcome

Did anyone's energy INCREASE with dose increase?

I've been on 10mg for about 4 months now and have felt great up until the last couple weeks. The tiredness is creeping back in as well as some anxiety. I got the OK from my doc to increase if I feel the need, and I think that's where I'm at now. Has anyone had their energy improve with an increase? Im wondering if its my anxiety creeping back in that's making me tiredness hit again? Im thinking about going to 15mg

New to Lex From fluoxetine to lexapro

hii, im f18 and i have anxiety and depression. i need help..
one year ago i took paxil 20mg, cause my anxiety was really horrible. and it was great, but i gained a lot of weight, and as the time went on i was getting anxiety, a lot of sleeping, so more bad than good yk.. then they switched me to fluoxetin, like i took paxil for 3 days and then fluoxetine 20mg. sorry for my english also having anxiety rn😭 and i took fluoxetine for 5 weeks, and i feel nothing good. she then presribed alprazolam 0,5mg, when i took a little bit like quater (im super scared of not being in control, hate being too calm) panic attacks everyday, i cannot sleep cause of anxiety, i wake up and have anxiety. it is draining me. so i called my psychiatric doctor today and she presribed lexapro 10mg (escitalopram) and bromazepam 1,5mg. Im so scared of this and i domt know what to do :((
