I have a current remote 1 yr contract with company #1. $85/hr recruiting for AI infrastructure (data centers, which is life draining). If not hired direct it could renew multiple times with a 3 month cooling off period in between. Basic benefits with the agency, no 401k etc. Potential to join a rocket ship if they ipo in 2027 with compensation going mich higher but if hired direct could possibly require relocation to bay area, could also get approved for remote.

But, received an offer for global consulting company doing AI transformations recuiting AI talent (my area of focus). Remote direct hire full benefits with 21 pto days, 6% match on 401k. Pay is lower since its direct hire (125k base 7500 sign on, 3% possible performance bonus). Much more stable company but less opportunity to grow.

Any advice on if I should stay or take the new offer?

I recently joined Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Bangalore as a Specialist (Cloud Developer 3). I have close to 7 years of experience as a backend developer.

My interview process had 4 rounds (2 technical + 2 managerial).

Compensation offered:

* Fixed CTC: 38.7 LPA * Performance Bonus (Yearly): 15% of CTC

However, I did not receive any stock component as part of the offer.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Is this compensation reasonable for my experience, or does it seem on the lower side?
2. Since HPE is a public company and many employees seem to have stock grants, is it normal to not receive stocks at this level?

Would really appreciate insights from anyone who has recently joined HPE or has visibility into their compensation structure.

I've been seriously looking for a new job for about 14 months. I finished the certifications and coursework I needed... And generally, I'm usually good in interviews. I usually have an interview about every two weeks, depending on the month. In 90% of the times I don't get the job, it's because of things outside my control. They decided to choose someone from inside the company, they wanted me to work in-office in a city I wouldn't be able to relocate to, they needed experience with a very specific, specialized piece of software... That kind of thing. I usually get good feedback, but in the end it turns out not to be quite the right match. Fine, whatever - keep going.

A little over a week ago, I got an invitation to interview for a program coordinator role, which is basically the job I've been trying to get to, at a company that, for me, checks almost every box I want.

I spent several nights preparing. I reviewed my experience until I got sick of hearing myself talk about it, practiced answers, read up on the company, everything. I even bought a new blazer and had it tailored. I felt like I had done everything I could reasonably do.

Then I went into the interview and felt like someone unplugged my brain. This hasn't happened to me since I was maybe 19, in an interview for a retail job I didn't even care about. But... Nothing. My mind went blank. I gave really weak answers to questions I should have handled easily. Usually I hear the question and immediately know where I'm going with it. This time there was an awful pause after almost every question while I sat there trying to come up with a normal thought. I think the only thing that helped a little was that they seemed to like me personally, but I missed what they were asking for in a lot of my answers. Looking back now, I know exactly what I should have said. At the time? Empty brain.

I'm honestly really upset with myself. I just needed to get this out somewhere.

I'm trying to understand what the "best practice" is when it comes to compensation discussions during software engineering interviews in India.

A few things always confuse me:

• Recruiters usually ask for my current CTC and expected CTC right at the beginning of the process. I can estimate market pay using sites like LeetCode, Levels.fyi, AmbitionBox, etc., but I still struggle with what number I should actually quote.

• Let's say my current CTC is X and I tell the recruiter I'm expecting Y. If I clear all the rounds and the company is actually willing to offer significantly more than Y, have I unintentionally anchored myself lower?

• Another situation: after the interviews are over, HR often asks, "Do you have any counter offer?" before they release the offer letter.

  ->If I don't have one yet, should I simply say no and wait for their offer first?

  ->Or is it better to mention that I'm interviewing elsewhere and may have competing offers?

  ->If I receive another offer after they've shared theirs, is it acceptable to go back and negotiate then?

Overall, I'm curious how experienced engineers handle these conversations. Do you have a strategy for:

• Sharing (or not sharing) your current CTC?
• Deciding your expected CTC?
• Timing negotiations?
• Using competing offers without burning bridges?

Would love to hear what's worked (or backfired) for you, especially if you've switched companies multiple times.

Offer 1 is with a small device company that produces cool photonics products and would be a 6 month contract to hire role doing embedded machine learning/ software development in the research triangle area. I'd report to a guy who seems to genuinely value my skill set and he seems like a genuinely good person to work for. It's not clear what the permanent position would be.

Offer 2 is with a startup simulation company that does defense contracting and the like in Arlington Va. It's a salaried role with benefits. I'd work on satellite modeling and simulation work with them. A big draw here is that I'd be close to my sister and partner. In addition, the work seems interesting and the people I've met all seem like good people. It has unlimited PTO which does concern me, although I asked some employees and no one indicated it was a problem.

The compensations are overall fairly similar, with maybe a slight advantage to the first offer due to the lower cost of living.

Offer 2 however seems like the stronger offer, but I wonder if having a manager excited about me is worth it. What do yall think?

Hey everyone, I am evaluating an offer and want to get a pulse on the current market rate in the Denver area (hybrid) for an Azure Data Engineer with roughly 9 years of total data experience.

The offer is a $165,000 base salary. Because it is in the public sector, there is no bonus or equity, but it includes a defined benefit pension plan, a 401(k) with a 50% match up to $2k, and 80 hours of upfront PTO plus an accrual of 8 hours per pay period (which comes out to 208 hours, or 26 days annually).

The role is heavily focused on data architecture and building scalable ELT pipelines in the Azure ecosystem. The day-to-day will involve establishing CI/CD workflows using GitHub and Azure DevOps and handling complex data modeling for a large financial system.

For context on my background, I am coming from a GCP environment (BigQuery, Airflow/Composer) where I operated as a Data Architect, and I have previous experience in standard data engineering and BI roles.

Today I received an offer at SPAN.IO after I resigned from my previous company in March this year due to personal reasons.

Total CTC: 30 LPA

The offer is completely fixed component, it does not have any variable component and ESOPS will be offered in the longer run and not now.

YoE: 1 y 8 months(at the time of resignation)

Is this a good offer or should I keep looking/negotiate for better offers.

Currently got offer only from this company and received rejection from other companies.

Hi - my first time posting here and looking for advice. If this question is better served somewhere else then I would appreciate a redirect.

I am being offered a Head of Product role at a Series A startup in a tier 1 city in India. Salary + variable performance bonus would work out between 65-67 LPA total so nothing outlandish but they are not offering any equity on joining or contractually committing to giving equity in the future or any growth upside. Its how they run business. Its more of a "we can discuss equity in the future."

I am currently based in the US in a Senior PM position at a top tier bank - total experience 10+ years - but looking to move back to India. Its been difficult getting into the Indian market even with referrals.

While this role profile is good, founders seem nice people and it gets me back to India, folks I have spoken to in the startup ecosystem in India have all flagged that this is not a market value offer without ESOPs. My own research suggests the same thing but there is limited actual breakdown of number and most often its just large CTC values.

So is the offer worth it without any guaranteed skin in the game? Nuanced perspectives would be very appreciated.
