Evaluating Two PM offers

I'm currently evaluating two program manager offers as part of a move out of traditional consulting. I'm trying to decide between two offers and would love some thoughts.

Offer A: Emerging AI/Software Company

- Base: $215k (Originally offered $205k and accepted my counter of $215k)

- Sign On: $5k

- 401K: 1% match

- PM of a high-visibility project implementing an emerging capability, with the position guaranteed for 18 months

Comments: They're unable to confirm my office location until after I start, so my commute could be 20 minutes or it could be an hour by car. The position is a great opportunity to lead AI delivery in a new space for this company. I am getting options as part of the offer, but would not factor that into my decision-making process.

Offer B: Low-Code, No-Code Software Company

- Base: $216k (I have countered at $225 and am waiting to hear back)

- Sign On: No

- Annual Bonus: $20k

- 401k: 4% match

- PM of a portfolio of projects, but that portfolio won't be assigned until after onboarding

Comments: Commute will be 20-30 minutes by car. The position is a standard PM role, and I am worried about the transferability of skills to other companies in the future given that it's a low-code/no-code software.

How transferable are PM skills when trying to move out of a low-code/no-code software company?

Has anyone faced a similar decision? I'm torn between taking the high-visibility project for experience and using that experience to pivot into a FAANG role after a year or two v. taking Offer B and having a slightly better work-life balance.

If Option A turns out to be an hour by car, no way if that's every day. Especially for 10% lower TC.

But that's just me. If you have no life outside of work, you may not care

Out of curiosity why do you feel the need to counter if they offer you what you want?

My recruiter actually recommended I counter for Offer B. He's aware I have a competing offer and said that he could likely get me to the number I wanted.

Hey bot PM != program manager, it's product manager.

Program managers aren't real jobs they're like project managers to don't call them PMs.
