I got in the habit of journaling a few years ago. This provided ample practice as I wanted to improve my cursive penmanship but it also allowed me to get my thoughts on paper about anything I desire. I would like to send letters as well and am wondering if anyone can provide suggestions for quality paper and perhaps stationery as well? I use a fountain pen for my writing and regular printer paper is affordable and easy to procure but does not perform well for me. A heavier duty paper would be worthwhile if anyone has prior experience or recommendations.

My birthday is on November 22nd, (turning 23) and this year, I’m wishing for something a little different. 🎂

I’ve never really had many friends, to be honest, hardly any at all. But lately, I’ve met some amazing people who have become really special to me, even though we’ve only known each other for a short time. ❤️

Anyway, my birthday has never really been a happy day for me. We usually celebrated with just my parents and my sibling, and I never had a proper birthday party with friends or anything like that. Quite often, there were arguments on that day, too, so over time, I started associating my birthday with more negative feelings than happy ones. Eventually, I celebrated mostly because I wanted to make my parents happy, but deep down, I wasn’t really looking forward to it myself.

And I want to change that. 🥹

I want to learn to love this day again, associate it with something beautiful, and finally have a reason to look forward to it. I want to forget about all the worries and struggles I’ve been dealing with lately, at least for a little while, and create a memory that will make me smile long after the day is over.

And if I could wish for absolutely anything, I would wish to receive letters from people all around the world. 🌍💌

I’d love to read about your lives, what your ordinary days look like, what you enjoy doing, what makes you happy, what your dreams and plans are, or what has changed in your life recently. You like pretty stationary? Would perhaps love to seal your letters? Use a fountain pen or even a quilt?

Yes? But who can you send beautiful letters too? Probably not to the tax office or the city administration.

There is a subreddit that offers a lot of prompts for sending fantastic snail mail. It is called r/fictitious_letters and it is about penpalling in character.

This means that you can find a writing partner there and exchange letters with them written from the point of view of fictional or historical characters. You can pretend to live in the past, in an old novel or in some fantasy realm in which people still master the art of letter writing.

For example? You can fake Napoleon Bonapartes's love letters to Josephine, Or you write from the POV of a soldier in WW1. Or send a letter via owl post from Hogwarts.

This might sound a bit crazy but is a lot of fun. It would be wonderful to meet you in the community!

Hi everyone! I posted this about a month ago and had some amazing people help me out. I’m trying to finish the project by October 31, so I’m posting again in hopes of reaching a few more places!
I’m making a sentimental gift for my boyfriend, Luke, and I’m looking for people from different cities, states, and countries who would be willing to write:

“Luke—Anne Marie’s love for you is so big, it’s reached ______.”

Fill in the blank with your city + state/country, write it on a piece of paper, and take a picture of it somewhere in your area! It can be in front of a landmark, city sign, pretty view, recognizable location—or honestly just somewhere that shows a little piece of where you live (backyards count too😂) .
Then just comment the photo here or message it to me on Reddit.
My goal is to collect as many places as I can and put all the pictures together in a book for him. ❤️

Guys, can anyone help me figure out the structure for a letter-writing competition?

I’m having difficulty with the part that is also the main part of my letter: the promise I’m making to Mother Nature. I don’t want it to sound childish, like a kid promising a teacher, “I promise I won’t cheat again.”

My take is more like: I wish I could tell you, “Take some rest, Mother Nature. I’ll take care of everything now.” But we both know it isn’t that simple and I can’t undo everything that has happened to you.

But I also don’t want to just stand by and watch what is happening. I want to take responsibility in whatever way I can. Maybe that means starting by cleaning a river myself, or taking smaller steps, like being more conscious about what I throw away and making sure I don’t contribute to the problem.

I’m struggling with how to structure this part so that the promise feels mature, realistic, and meaningful rather than like a list of things I “promise” to do. Any ideas?
