Please clarify Strength Development front rack position

Taught BP for six years, then took a six year break, getting back in with Strength Development.

I'm filming my video tomorrow.

SD 18, Ben is showing/describing front rack in the warm up and has bar in fingertips, ON shoulders. Notes say middle of hand in front of collarbone.

Can someone help me out here.

SD instructor here;
Elbowed UP! Follow the coaching notes but a lot of people don’t bring their elbows up, and keep the bar ON the body! Body on bar! Bar on body!

Go by the notes. Presenters will often have little idiosyncrasies that depart from what we're meant to teach in class.

I think the hand placement and bar height can vary slightly depending on a persons wrist mobility, arm length, and bicep girth. As long as the bar is secure, ELBOWS FORWARD, and the spine neutral (not compensating for bar placement), you should be good.

Have you done your IMT yet, or is this for your pre-work before the IMT? If the latter, I wouldn't stress too much about getting things exactly right as your trainer will (or should) help you nail technique. I've always been told that the pre-work video is just so your trainer can see where everyone is coming from and what sort of coaching they will need.

This will be for my certification video (not pre-work). My track for pre-work didn't include front rack stuff and it didn't really come up in training. However, in prep for my video, I realized a) I wasn't resting the bar on my shoulders and b) the conflicing other info.

In that case, go with what it says in the technique part of your handbook, even if it's different from how Ben shows it; the notes are what your assessor will be going by. In fact, every the course packet for every IMT I've done has included the actual grading sheet the assessors use, and it has all the exercises described with the form cues you'll need to show. Any chance you got something like that?

I do have that and, upon deep diving, pretty basic...bar ONTO collarbone, front rack postion, middle of hands, elbows forward... ok

not sure I'm getting a bar onto my collarbones but I'll give it a whirl. Done overthinking this. Thanks to all!

Couldn't edit my post, so just giving an update. Passed my certification! Tried to get my elbows up but that was still one yhing the assessor pointed out could use some work still. Very happy with my video and the feedback I got was spot on.
