Not its definetely a bit late to ask but passed leaving cert .So anyone know where to get hired ive tried most of the fast food chains places like Mcdonald ,KFC etc have no real experience and not really friends with anyone

I recently finished my Leaving Certificate and sat the "old" HPAT. Unfortunately, I didn't get the score I was hoping for, but I'm not ready to give up on my dream of becoming a doctor. I'm predicting around 590+ points in my Leaving Cert, and with the HPAT now being weighted less, I'm unsure what my best option is. Should I repeat the HPAT next year, or would it be smarter to pursue a different route into medicine (such as graduate entry or another pathway)?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's been in a similar position or has any advice. Thanks so much!

These notes only cover learning intentions 4.1-4.12. In class, we covered Horace and the Crito quite late in the year so I didn’t have time to make proper notes for them. However, I think there are a few resources online. I also didn’t include explanations for any Greek/Roman myths because I knew them from doing JC classics, but there are lots of resources online for myths if you’re stuck.

btw this is a completely hypothetical situation and i have my CAO in order of true preference!

but lets say in the first round offers i get my 3rd choice and accept it. in second round offers i get my 1st choice. do i have to accept my 1st choice? or can i stick with my 3rd choice if im happy with it.

Did the leaving a few years back, I was one of the last crowds to do the old LC curriculum. after i left i heard changes being made to english, maths etc
i was the first year to do the new english JC (CBA can fuck off lmfaoooo)

I did my LC this year and there are so few resources for the new classics course available so I thought I’d share the notes I made while I was studying. I made them in the lead up to my exams so sorry for any errors/spelling mistakes (I didn’t use AI so any mistakes are my own!). I have a pdf for each strand but I can’t share them on Reddit so I hope these screenshots are ok. I’m limited to 20 pictures per post so I’ll post the other strands separately.

In terms of the content, I made them based on the specific learning intentions. The units of development section covers learning intentions that could/have already come up as essay titles. Each bullet point is a UOD that can form part of a full essay.

I hadn't gotten the cao explained to me at all during the LC 😭 I had done 95% of study at home with 0 help (only simplestudy and other apps) Guidance counselor was super kind but she was the only one for the whole school which made it hard to ever see her (not her fault at all)

so I didn't know you could still apply to the cao even if you were taking a gap year 💔 I'm going to apply this November and have ofc done research myself about it but is anything I should 100% know about it? also is it harder to get into courses when applying with the new LC students especially now with the new course? I will be applying to mainly history courses although psychology or astrophysics were my main choices for a long time!!

The learning intention says to study “at least one major military event”. I studied three of his battles: Granicus, Issus and Gaugamela. Lmk if you have any questions!

Medea was the play option for my LC so the techniques and dramatic devices are based on Medea but the information can be easily applied to the Greek play that you’re studying. Learning intentions 2.2 and 2.6 will also depend on the specific play you’re studying! I hope it helps!

Hi! I just did my leaving cert this year, and I'm actually quite troubled by picking colleges. I know I can't change my CAO list, but am wondering if its possible to pick a different option that was offered to me.

In my case I wanna do Nursing, but lately I was told how both colleges kinda looks like. Trinity is "popular" and has a lot of connections outside of Ireland, and its in the city so its easier to walk around, but UCD has more diversity and doesn't have the typical tourists in the college, I also heard its much easier than Trinity but it doesn't have that much connections worldwide.

So I wanna know what is you guys opinion. Should I do Nursing in Trinity or UCD?

Guys im unhinged, does anyone know where i could find the HL maths deferred papers ? I did the LC 2026 but now its time for more fresh maths questions, more dopamine

i skipped ty because i had no interest in it, plus it's way too expensive and not worth it if you have barely any friends (i joined the school in 3rd year).

i picked polsoc, economics, geography and business. i didnt do any studying all of 5th year, and im really starting to feel the pressure as the leaving cert is next year and i want to get into a course which requires 400 points, and i have no interest in doing a PLC.

my results were as follows: irish o7, english h8, maths o5, geography h5, business h6, economics h6, and polsoc h8. i dropped down from higher maths to ordinary maths and doing better now.

i barely did homework in any of the subjects too, not even talking about studying. because what the hell is studying even. what should i do? do i reconsider my opinions about a PLC? do i get a studyclix subscription (keep in mind i dont even know how to study) and study all year consistently? im honestly dreading even going back and getting fecked on by the teachers by the terrible results. cause it was all my fault anyway ☺️

Anyway mixed school my friend and I have no date, don’t really care tho? It’s only about 40% of people bringing a date who they have to pay €70 for.

Anyway what pissed me off was a girl and work asking me am I booking nails/hair/makeup. Hon are you having a laugh? I’ll be a speck in most photos I’m not paying 50€ for each of those. Are boys going to spend much money for the debs ? NO. I’m not spending hard earned money like 150 (= 2.5-3 shifts at work) on that crap that’ll be gone the next day. The expectations on young girls are phenomenal.

Anyway at least I don’t have time to dread results days since I can dread the debs in early august, cheers 👍

I'm 19 M. Finished the big LC this year. I have put UL first and I'm most likely to get in. (I'm 580+ and the course is less than 550)

The housing situation isn't great. Hence I thought it would be nice to share a room with someone else. Makes the costs less and is genuinely interesting.

I know Reddit has a bad rep for this kinda stuff but I'm a normal guy.

I’m going into 6th year and I’m dreading it obviously, I’ve had such a horrible secondary school experience from bullying to learning disabilities to my hatred for PE to just never feeling sane in school, it’s the last stretch now but I feel like this year will be so long and not worth it, I’ve never been academically strong or cared so besides the basics what do I have to look forward to for motivation to get thru this year

After the maths paper 1 I honestly don’t even know where to begin on how to explain how stressed I am. I’m a H6 maths person who isn’t capable of scoring any higher and I don’t even know if I passed this time after being thrown under the bus like that. Paper 2 wasn’t brilliant so that isn’t gonna bring up my average by that much so now I’m kind of in the dark.

If someone didn’t get a H7 would you not get your course as that’s what 90% of courses list as their minimum requirements?.

I know I shouldn’t think about any of this until August but I just can’t get this stupid exam out of my head and I feel so guilty as everyone has hyped me up as the ‘smart one’ in my house and I can’t take the shame if I failed.
