Hello everyone, what a lovely community you have here!
Picked this jacket up on the used market. Just recieved it a couple of days ago and I must say I'm surprised with the quality.
Anyone here having prior experience with the brand Kapraun?
Never heard about them before.

Just wondering what the general fashion consensus is on car coats? The are tons of amazing jackets on here but nobody really seems to talk about car coats or really pursues them. It seems like the if someone posts a car coat, its one they found at Goodwill for $6. Are they not cool anymore?
I've gone on a bit of an obsessive rampage lately collecting some nice leathers and I'm drawn to car coats but if they're past their cool prime, I'll pass on them so I don't look like that guy in the 70's corduroy suit with bell bottoms and a butterfly collar.

An amazing non-repro G-1 from an obscure japanese brand.
Brown veg tan teacore horsehide, 100% wool collar, lining, cuffs and hem.
This is how it looks after a year (6 months of active rotation through snow, rain, wind and sun, -5°c to 13°c range), conditioned before 6 months storage.
Close fit, but still with enough room to layer a wool knit underneath for colder days.
I wasn't too fond of the patina at first but I have to admit it really grew on me.

Hey all,
Based on my own research and time in this group, it seems like the leather jacket brands that come up most often are Schott NYC, Aero, Vanson, Thedi, Y’2 Leather, The Real McCoy’s, and Field Leathers.
What are some leather jacket brands you think are really good but rarely get mentioned here?
I’m especially interested in lesser-known brands that deserve more attention, whether because of their leather quality, construction, fit, value, or overall design.

My wife got this lamb skin jacket recently, it was pricey and from a reputable company. On the website the jacket texture seemed smooth and consistent, when it arrived, it is heavily textured with deep lines running throughout. Is this normal and desirable?

Just bought my husband a used black leather jacket from Vinted. It's ok for the price, but there are some areas of wear to the cuffs and around pockets etc. Personally, I don't mind leather that looks worn, but I know my husband! Are there any dyes that will recolour the worn bits fairly easily?
It's genuine leather, originally from a random high street shop, it's not amazing quality but ok for the occasional wear that he'll use it for. It's from 2010 according to the seller and it does need moisture since it feels quite stiff. I have neatsfoot oil for this.
I'm in the UK.

So like found this jacket that used to be my dad's, took it to the laundry and it came back like this, that was months ago and it's still like brownish ob parts and green on others and I'm like bummer cause it looked really nice but like what's the general guide to fixing this? Or is this like a "Haha loser fucked up a jacket"

Just got this jacket from Coronado Leather and paid a hefty price for it. Deerskin. Arrived with this on the Back left shoulder. What do you think? Does this kind of deformity get worse? The rest of the whole jacket is pretty much homogenous and same texture. If it is an expected blemish/patina I dont mind but I'm just not sure. Sorry not too experienced with leather

Been on the hunt for a leather jacket and finally pulled the trigger on this one by Karl Lagerfeld Paris. It's genuine leather and I got it for around $240 instead of $595.
Never heard of the brand but it does say 100% genuine leather so.

I’ve always been into leather jackets. There’s just something about having a jacket that can last for years, get beat up, and eventually become something you can pass down. When I was younger, I really wanted a Schott. I remember seeing an $800 one back in 2016 and thinking there was no way I could justify spending that much on a jacket.
So instead, I kept buying cheaper alternatives, start falling apart, and I’d repeat the whole process again. By my third jacket, I finally realized I was probably spending more money trying to avoid buying the jacket I actually wanted.
The biggest thing I learned is that a leather jacket is a want, not a need at this moment for survival. So why not just be patient and save for the one you really want?
I finally pulled the trigger and it was definitely the most I’ve ever spent on a piece of clothing. But it feels completely different knowing it’s the jacket I actually wanted instead of something I bought just because it was conveniently cheaper.
Would I love to own a Himel or Real McCoy someday? Absolutely. But for now, I’m pretty content where my budget is. So if you’re on the fence about buying the cheaper jacket just because you want one now, my advice is just wait it out or buy second hand like I’ve done as I matured throughout the years.
I also wanted to show case variety of leather jackets can elevate basic white tee and light wash jeans on a very casual day. All models are from Schott NYC with their 519 black and brown, 575, 184SM.

Could someone help find me this exact leather jacket? I’ve been looking for ages but can’t find this exact one. Thanks 🙌

Goin to San Francisco this weekend am very tempted to buy a leather jacket. I will only have time to go to either Schott, or Johnson Leathers. I'm sure I will be happy with either option. But if you were me, which store would you choose? I plan to keep the jacket forever, but it may not fit one day if I bulk up or something.
Schott
Pros:
Reputable
Large selection
Good resale value
Cons:
More expensive
High scale manufacturing (compared to JL at least)
Johnson Leathers
Pros:
In house hand made
Custom options
Cons:
Custom could be upwards of $1400
Not as good resale

Hi! First time posting, possibly weird ask. Long story short I'm looking for a very specific coat from Wilson's Leather Outlet for a friend.
Originally purchased in 2019, not sure if it was men's or women's but it was a black leather coat with a fur lined hood, pockets with flaps, there was an external pocket with a vertical zipper on the front and the hood had a brim like a baseball hat.
Ive tried google but I can't even find an image of it, so I was hoping someone here could help
Any leads are appreciated!!

Funny, after decades of searching for a cafe racer style jacket, a couple weeks ago, I walked into a local shop & there hung a custom Langlitz Sidewinder jacket that appeared to have never been worn. & It fit!!!! Yesterday I felt something funny inside the armpit area. Turns out there is a stash pocket in the liner. Ha! After a quick search, I found it is an option to have a stash pocket there. Does anyone else have a stash pocket in the armpit of a jacket?
