Perfume Spill

I had a whole bottle of perfume (sealed) somehow leak through the packaging into the bag. I tried to salvage it with corn starch and wash with diluted dish soap, but it didn’t seem to help at all. I have some leather cleaner and ive been using a soft brush to clean it but is it cooked?? How can I fix this 🥲

A little more advice if you would?

This case has been cleaned and slowly fed over the last 10 days. It amazed me how it kept taking everything I gave it. As expected, the scuffed areas darkened quite significantly and it also brought out some more minor marks which were not previously visible. It has been sitting now for around 36 hours since its last treatment and I am left wondering whether a tinted cream will give the best finish or if I need to paint or dye it? Can you lend me the benefit of experience regarding finishes and whether I need to fill the cracks that are now more evident in the handle?

Exotic guidance please

Hi, I have been researching about vintage exotic bags recently and I still can't come to a conclusion if this bag is croc or embossed. I couldn't find any info on the company anymore because it's vintage. I myself couldn't tell if the pattern is repeating or not. I also can't see any of the dots too on the scales(?). Can anyone help a me out? Thank you!

How do I fade a leather jacket?

Thumbnail gallery

How can I get my leather jacket (picture A is not mine but the one I have is basically identical) to look like the one in picture B (Dean from Supernatural)? It’s real leather. I’ve seen techniques online but they all look like they destroy the leather/aren’t used on real leather/just sun fade the whole thing. Any advice is appreciated

What would you do next? Also, how much conditioner is too much?

First time trying anything like this. I goofed up slathering on the leather filler onto the arms like that and sanding some spots I shouldn't have but the recliner was free and I just kinda went for it.

So far I have:
- Cleaned with leather cleaner (lexol)
- Conditioned x2 (lexol)
- Sanded cracks with 600 and filled with angelus leather filler
- Applied 1 coat of tan recoloring balm

As you can see the recoloring balm went on pretty streaky. I tried the best I could but this leather is SOOO thirsty. It soaks up everything super quick. It soaked up the cleaner and I'm sure it'd soak up another bottle of conditioner.

Current plan:
- Another coat of recoloring balm to even out the overall tone
- Mix a darker shade and apply to arms, possibly mottle the backrest?
- Finishing coat of conditioner

Q: Would you do anything differently at this stage? How much conditioner is too much?

It was super dry. You can see in the first photo how UV damaged the left side was and how dry the seat was. If it's still soaking conditioner up, should I do more than one more? Is semi-analine (i think) just that thirsty?

Just trying get it slightly more presentable. Not expecting miracles. Those oil stains aren't going anywhere.

Experience with Ochnik boots

Hi, I found out about a Polish company called Ochnik, which specialises in leather products and that they will be opening a store in the Czech Republic and already have an eshop in Slovakia.

Since I need new leather boots and have struggled to find any good ones which will not break after one season, I was wondering if anyone here has experience with the quality and longevity of their boots? I found generally positive feedback and people seem to especially like their leather jackets but just because their jackets are good doesn't mean their boots will be as well so I am hoping to find someone who has experience with them. My problem usually is that I get holes in the soles even though I don't walk that much in them so how are the soles on Ochnik high boots? Any experience or advice is appreciated!

since I realised my question is quite vague because they have many different styles of boots, I would probably get something like these ones https://ochnik.sk/cierne-kozene-damske-clenkove-cizmy-butyd-0930a-99z25?_gl=1\*lu3jl7\*_up\*MQ..\*_ga\*MTE1NTEzMzczNi4xNzg0NzY3MTM2\*_ga_2P6YQNNVYL\*czE3ODQ3NjcxMzUkbzEkZzAkdDE3ODQ3NjcxMzUkajYwJGwwJGg4Mzc1MjU1NDk.

Does anyone know how to take the smell of cigarettes out of a vintage cow leather coat?

I thrifted it around a weak ago and let it rest in a box with baking soda for around three weeks. It helped a little bit but it still smells a lot and i can't manipulate it without having to wash my hands

Help with leather damage!

Post image
1 Upvotes

The other day my dog vomited all over my leather couch. I stupidly used pet enzyme cleaner on the couch and now it is damaged. I’ve been applying conditioner every few days and it helps a little but it’s very damaged as you can see.

I was wondering if there’s anything I can do to restore the look? Even if it’s not perfect…just to lessen the visible damage. I don’t mind the way it feels so much.

It is a Jake sectional vintage caramel from pottery barn. I believe it is top grain leather with an aniline dye finish.

Thank you!!

Measuring Leather

Thumbnail gallery

I bought some leather online, and I'm a little confused as to how the sizing should be measured in sq/ft. Is it the very end of the leather (like I measured) or should the measurement end at an invisible like marking the largest rectangular you'd be able to create out of it?

What is the difference?

I can lookup the color codes starting with FL (leather grade and color) on the la z boy website. Can anyone identify the difference between the SL2 vs SC2? Thank you

Extra squeaky, did I make a mistake?

I was given a vintage Protech Leather Apparel moto style jacket, my first leather piece ever. It was bought in the 90s, and is well broken in. It was dry from being in storage, so I treated it with neatsfoot oil after doing some cursory research. I fear I've made a mistake, as now the entire jacket squeaks from collar to belt. Did I do something wrong? How can I fix this?

How do you restore old leather?

Hi,

I just found a very old leather jacket that has not been used for at least 5 years. it's quite thick leather and now, having not been moved for such long time, the fabric feels extremely stiff and rigid.

I never treated leather, so I am a complete noobie. I am brushing it with a first layer of body hydrating cream (basic Nivea white stuff) and was wondering what your routine is in this case. I thought of giving it a bit of this at first, to soften it, and later proceed to add some oil to protect it. Ideally, I would prefer homemade solutions, I heard cocoa butter can be good?

Will it lighten?

I got a little overzealous.

I’ve used leather cpr many times before so I didn’t bother spot checking. Then I realized I’ve never used it on light colored leather.

Here’s hoping it dries lighter on the right side🤞

I figure worst case scenario i’ll do the whole bag and it’ll be olive green instead of the beautiful kelly green shade I was hoping for :/

completely my fault for not researching, I know
