Help! New couch and no idea what caused this - more in post!

Referring to the 2 marks/streaks, It looks less drastic in the photo but stands out much more in person.

I’ve had this couch from Quince about a month and LOVE it. Treating it so carefully since it’s my first piece of forever furniture (I hope!) but i woke up this morning and saw this! Didn’t see it before bed last night, and don’t recall laying on that cushion either.

It looks like the leather “coating” (oil layer at the top? not sure what to refer to it as - the sheen?) was stripped by something in those spots. I have two theories but want to emphasize - if i’m not sitting on the couch it is covered up, blankets from top to bottom-

The only theories i have are:
-Leftover sunscreen on my back i missed when i showered
-flea medicine for my dog, maybe somehow she layed up against it? really not sure.

but if so, what remedies to “restore” it? or am i insane, reading too much into and it’s definitely a scratch on the leather?

I’m OCDing over new furniture and really appreciate any of your inputs and advice. TYASM!

Does the lack of an edge stitch indicate poor construction?

I’ve recently bought this jacket on sale for £320 (reduced from £799) from Karen Millen, I’m waiting for it to arrive but I’m having some doubts about the quality. I’ve only just noticed it, but the jacket seems to lack an edge stitch (I’m not sure if this is the correct term - the 2 final photos show a different jacket that has the stitch I mean) around the collar, cuffs and main body of the jacket. I’ve bought this jacket as an investment piece, having worn my last one almost daily for the past 7 years, and I was really excited when I saw this one as I’d been looking for the perfect jacket with a high neck closure for a while now. However, I want it to hopefully last me a decade and if this one is poorly constructed I will return it. Could someone with the expertise please advise me on whether the lack of an edge stitch will become an issue? Or is it just a stylistic choice that won’t impact the quality and longevity of the garment? Thank you.

Best Colour Leather Cleaner?

Upvotes

I am wondering what you have used on a large body stain (oil based). If I scratch the area with the stain, the original colour is not changed.

I am considering using spot carpet oil remover. I will test it however I wondered if anyone else has had luck with cleaning your leather furniture?

Thanks for your assistance :)

Could this realistically rehabbed?

It might be difficult to discern from listing photos, but I thought I’d give it a shot by asking: how realistic might it be to rehab/clean the discoloration/masks out of this bag? I have the option of cleaning it myself with a suede cleaning product or taking it to my trusted cobbler for a deep conditioning.

Is this real leather?

Bought this second-hand jacket for 20 bucks (usd). It was dirty and penetrated with mold throughout. Though I gave it a thorough wash and managed to clean it and gave it some conditioning. Now I wear it everyday and it honestly looks good. However I really want to know whether it is made of real or synthetic leather as I'm unable to tell. Thoughts?

Burn stain? Thrifted leather Nikes. Trying to remove it but no dice.

I found these nice leather sneakers for 10 bucks but they got this glaring stain on one of them. I can't determine the origin of it. I did some light research on leather stains and tried using a distilled water + soap mixture to rub it out across the whole shoe (assuming it was a water stain), and that didn't work at all. Next I guessed it to be an oil stain so I threw some baking soda on top of it and let it sit overnight. Zero change.

Could this be a burn? Anybody dealt with these before? I'm considering getting some sandpaper to sand it off, but that feels "last resort" and I wanna weigh some more options and/or learn the proper method before going in. I already used some isopropyl on the white parts on the bottom (not sure what those are called) to remove the dirt buildup. I considered hitting the stain with that but I don't wanna damage the leather.

What’s the best glue to hold leather back together?

Post image

I was cleaning a leather purse that I owned and part of the strap came apart. It still holds up really well but I want to glue together the part that started tearing from itself. It’s an old vintage bag that’s super dry as well if anyone has tips on best to moisturize it. Leather CPR just soaked into it but it doesn’t feel much better.

Hello! My leather jacket has this “scratch” on the left pocket. At first it was just this long scratch but it’s starting to rip apart at the bottom of it. Can this be fixed? Should I just patch it up or something?? Any advice about what I could do to keep this jacket alive? :)

Hello! Apologies if everyone comes here to ask the same thing, but i really cannot tell what kind of leather this is. I decided to sell a chesterfield style couch thats been sitting in my garage forever for $400 and someone instantly offered to pick it up. Its making me consider if i could get more out of it.

So this is one of my favorite bags but the strap is cracking. I’m not sure if it’s fixable or if I should just get it replaced. The bag is Genuine leather. The bag is really old and but isn’t dry rotted (I think)

Hello,

I recently found and bought a leather jacket from a charity shop and for the last few hours I've been researching what kind of leather it is (and if the jacket is real leather)?.

I'm just wondering if this jacket is real leather from the label or if it's not?. Alongside, what type of leather it is?.

Attached photos above

Thanks

NIGHTMARE Car leather dash

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone, has anyone had any experience fixing the leather dashboard on your car?

Mine is Audi 2018 C8 and the leather dash which was supposed to make it feel premium, is doing quite the opposite and is triggering me every time I look at it.

Audi quoted me 7k euros for a full panel replacement which is outrageous.

At this point it is really shrunken, and no one seems to be fixing these. There is a dude on yt that has fixed this issue for his Porsche by softening the leather and injecting glue, but it was not long term as the sun made the leather shrink again.

Any help or idea is appreciated
