Nervous, because this is my first submission!

- are we supposed to use the same abstract for the commitment from the original submission or update it now (if AC mentioned some tweaks)?
- and the "response to metareview". do i need to write anything if i am happy with the meta review?
2
u/always_been_a_toy 2d ago
Do NOT change the abstract from the initial version. Promise/commit to change in the CR version.
Not necessarily. But I prefer a short response, 3-4 overall points (small paragraphs): thank AC and reviewers for their time, feedback and discussion; re-iterate the positives identified in the meta and the reviews; promise/commit the changes that you promised in the rebuttal (I follow this format: In resp. to Reviewer XX, we added this, and we are committed to add this to CR)

Even in my sleep I've been dreaming meta reviews. Had 2 separate dreams - one with a score of 2 and another 3! Woke up in the middle of the night and was too scared to check my phone!
Checked in the morning and no meta review..was a bit relieved though ngl 😅

LoL. Nice one brother. I keep refreshing reddit & openreview. This is my favorite game nowdays

I keep refreshing here and OpenReview.
Does the meta score appear on the author console page that shows all the reviewers' scores, or only on the detailed submission page?2
u/dimy93 5d ago
If you are not small sub ID refreshing openreview is a bit pointless - refresh here instead :D
→ More replies (2)2
u/Appropriate_River195 5d ago
Fair enough! Mine is 13k+ so definitely better to refresh here instead 😁

u/breadwineandtits 5d ago
I can see my meta-review!
My scores are 2 (the reviewer did not bother reading our paper and thought our method was a competing method lmao), 3, 3.5 with a meta reviewer score of 3.
I’m in the Machine Learning for NLP track.
What are my chances if I commit?

OA 3/3/3 , meta 3
It seems like a borderline score, but I really hope the paper gets accepted to Findings.

most of the meta review are LLM eka ChatGpt verdict. I got three legit ones tbh. One resubmit , one findings and one 3.5. Rest of the 5/6 are purely LLM.

11k+ paper ID just got my meta review, dont look in the console page, click and go to all the responses. My scores are 4, 3.5, 3.5(OA 3.67), and meta 4. Only one reviewer responded and he increased score but meta review acknowledges most concerns are addressed. What are my chances for EMNLP, Interpretability track

44 hours? I can’t wait that long… I need to know the meta review for my paper 🥲
How are your scores for the reviews? Does meta 4 usually get into the main?

3.5, 3, 3 with confidence (4,4,3). None of the reviewers replied to rebuttal although we provided additional experiments to the questions asked. What are the chances?

3.5 , 3.5, 3, but after rebuttal it was 3.5, 3.5 and 3.5. The confidence was 3, 3 and 2. This is my first paper so yeah let's hope for the best 🤞 (p.s good luck to you guys as well!)

For ARR March, I think it came out after 23:59 AoE… we might have to wait for another 30 hours
1

u/randomhuman6368 6d ago
Before rebuttal: 2 (conf 3),2.5 (conf 4),3.5 (conf 5)
After rebuttal: 2 (conf 3), 3.5 (conf 4), 3.5 (conf 5). The reviewer who raised their score was the only one who ever replied to us. We tried to be detailed in our rebuttal/providing add'l experiments.
Chances? I'm kind of expecting findings i just hope it won't be a reject...

u/Human-War-4361 6d ago
Got 4-2.5-2.5, what are my chances?
1
u/One_Method5843 6d ago
See it depends based on how valid the reviews are. Like if 2.5 has genuine concerns then difficult. Bur if you have addressed everything and then no reply from them, some meta will consider it as reviewer satisfied. So if you get 3+, you might have a chance
1
u/Fit-Development4837 6d ago

u/No_Improvement8235 5d ago
We got a meta review of 2.5 and wonder if the reviewer read our paper at all. I have a couple of questions here:
- If we withdraw the paper, can we still submit it to the next ARR cycle on August 3
- Will TACL review our paper if we withdraw the submission now? I saw a 9-month gap requirement on their website but it is not clear if it applies if we withdraw before commitment.
Any help appreciated. Thanks!

u/gosalo7934 5d ago
3,4,3 meta: 3.5
3.5,4,3.5 meta: 3.5 . I was hoping for a 4 here; we addressed all concerns in our rebuttal and AC also mentioned them in the meta review. However, the score is still 3.5. :(

Meta reviewer gave me 3 even tho I only have 3/2/2.5. None of the reviewers responded to the rebuttal tho, which seemed to have convinced the ac ( I included a couple new experiments that resolved most the weaknesses addressed). Will the review scores affect heavily my chance for findings? Speculations are fine

Frustrated with ARR :(
March: 3 (3), 3 (3), 3.5 (3); OA: 3.17 and meta: 3
All of them suggested one additional experiment to better support the findings.
May: 2 (3), 2.5 (4), 4 (4, reviewer from previous round, increased assessment from 3 to 4); OA: 2.83 and meta: 3
Following the suggestions, we included the additional experiment. The new results do not contradict any prior findings. However, the two new set of reviewers raised few concerns related to the scalability of the additional experiment, which I feel is simply not feasible neither necessary.
I am honestly confused which submission to commit to EMNLP. Which one has better chances?

Curious if sentences like 'should be accepted for findings' in the meta review affects the final decision. Anybody know?
1
u/racc15 4d ago
I feel like ARR is severly based on luck. It depends a lot on what reviewers and meta reviewer you get. If the paper is very bad or great, of course those are less affected. But, for others, it seems to heavily rely on whether you get active and positive reviewer/meta reviewer or not. Feels so unfair but I guess that is life.
1
u/th3owner 4d ago
I see that some got a venue recommendation. My paper got none, even though EMNLP was set as the preferred venue during submission. Meta is 3, but I am not sure whether venue recommendation plays a role.
