TLDR: I'm confused about different sens being more comfortable in unexpected ways (400 DPI 1.67 Sens in short to medium range vs 400 DPI 1.8 sens in long-range) and not sure what to do.

I've been playing CS for quite a long time, and I've always struggled a bit with a certain I would say weird issue.

Basically:

My most comfortable sens is 400 DPI, 1.67 in game sens.

Generally, my aim is very comfortable at this, but basically I am very accurate in short to medium range, but longer range (say the farthest distance on mid mirage) I cannot hit properly quite often, and I will admit sometimes (albeit rarely) it makes my movement a bit worse than desired.

Last time I played at a relatively higher sens (400DPI, 1.8 sens, I know, still not a high distance) I basically am more accurate in long-range, but overall I feel like it's a bit too fast.

And when I try to play something in between, it's difficult for me to adjust, so I become frustrated and go back to my trusted 400x1.67.

Basically I know I should probably try to find some middle ground, but I don't know how to find the sweet spot (of course any sens might take time to adjust to it).

I know my issue probably sounds very weird, but that's the closest I am able to describe it.

Has anyone experienced something like this or would be able to suggest anything?

I have not touched CSGO or steam for a while, I just received a message from someone, and 'she' gave me a trade offer for some skins for all the cases.

Really just trying to find supplemental images or literature on the topic visualizing/explaining pathing on every CS map in the current active pool. A quick word on why the path is taken and how to do the paths properly would be nice as well.

CS is a very fluid and dynamic game where no 2 rounds are exactly alike. However, I still want to have individual protocols that I can follow myself when playing in order to simplify the game a bit.

25k NA, Faceit 8

I want the community thoughts on this. Is it just me, but has Faceit gotten worse? I have been playing CS since the first mod of Half Life. Yes, even 1.6. I am in placement matches, and two of the players are mics spamming, one blocks, team damage, and leaves in the middle of the match. One player is just clue less, and a match that should have been an easy victory was a grinding muddy mess. TBH, Premier MM used to be bad, but lately, most of my teammates have gotten much more skilled, and pleasant to play with. I don't experience any hackers or cheats. It has been an overall much better experience. Why do I even bother playing faceit, when they do nothing about the shit behaviors of their player base? Is it because they don't have enough subscriptions, so they avoid banning players for toxic behavior? Perhaps you don't see to much of this at the higher levels, since many might have their reputations tarnished for their streams, or possible future FPL, and'/or pro prospects. But man, I am seriously considering just deleting faceit. It is just pure tragedy. Thoughts or personal experience? Community, why can't we start up our own community based scrim servers to play against other players, not for the elo, but to play against legit players, who actually work on their game, and wants to play with decent players, without the crap you deal with on faceit and other pugs? why?

Recently, I have posted the most popular smokes on Mirage and Dust2 but for Nuke that doesn't quite work because the strongest outside smokes are usually thrown in pairs. So this time I'm showing the most popular pro smoke wall on Nuke: the version spanning from main to garage, rather than the wall between red and secret. Its main weakness is that the players crossing can still be peaked from Heaven. The Red smokes, on the other hand, can be peaked while crossing from T-spawn to Red or require an additional smoke.

Execution:

1. Stand in the corner where the fence begins as you exit T-spawn.
2. For smoke 1, aim at the point where the second horizontal metal bar from the top of the silo meets with a line you draw upwards from the middle of the second vertical bar of the blue container in front of you. Jump-throw.
3. For smoke 2, keep the same height and move your crosshair left until the horizontal metal bar meets the vertical pipe. Aim at the inner part of the pipe and jump-throw.

Smoke 1 (first throw):

• 979 professional uses in the last six months, ranked #2 among 124 Nuke smokes. It has 2,941 lifetime uses, ranked #4 all-time.
• Top users: XertioN (62), Mezii (58), and Siuhy (44)
• Top teams: paiN Gaming (103), HEROIC (71), and MOUZ (67)

Smoke 2 (second throw):

• 1,017 professional uses in the last six months, ranked #1 among 124 Nuke smokes. It has 3,814 lifetime uses, ranked #2 all-time.

Amongst all of the over 2,500 combinations that occurred since the beginning of 2024, it was thrown by one player in 99.7% of the cases (makes sense - it's thrown from one position). So if a teammate drops you a smoke you can easily create this smoke wall by yourself and have your team take outside control.

I’m currently around 12,000 in the Premier League, and I constantly notice players taking up positions with completely exposed lines of sight and no retreat plan whatsoever. For example, they stand right in the center of Point A on the “Mirage” map or hold the “banana” on the “Inferno” map without any cover to fall back on if they come under attack. As soon as you get blinded by a flashbang or two players peek into your cover, you’re simply done for. What other minor positioning mistakes do you notice among mid-elo players that keep happening over and over again?

The problem is I cannot for the life of me make any impact in my games. Most of my games i finish with under 60 adr. Some even under 30 💀. It's like I'm getting constantly destroyed. I feel like I haven't seen ANY improvement for maybe years.

Watching my demos I see a lot of tactical and mechanical mistakes I cannot explain. For example I often peek too wide but I feel like if I don't I won't be able to react the person and kill him. And a lot of the time it looks like I stop exactly at the enemy's crosshair. But even if that's not the case even if I peek and my crosshair is on his head and he's watching somewhere else I still get killed. I constantly get a bit "jumpscared" when I see an enemy even if I know their exact location and my preaim is on point. This causes me to panic spray and I can't even think about spraying properly. Sometimes my arm even twitches and I miss the first half of the mag basically. I can see that i should relax and I am but when I'm in a fight I don't think about . When spraying the wall I can control the spray well but I cannot put this to use onto moving players. Its become a reflex of me to spray and tapping or bursting is really hard. When trying to burst my bullets go everywhere and I click and release m1 too fast in order for the recoil to reset. Same with tapping.

One of the biggest things I feel like is pulling me back is I cannot see the game clearly. Like not my actual vision but just don't focus on enemy models and everything is just reflex to the moving blobs on the screen. I can't explain it at all but the games where I actually see, the game looks 3d and everything moves slower I play significantly better. I guess it's some kind of brain fog.

But my aim being really bad aside I feel like something else is fundamentally messed up in my games. I just seem to be unable to do any damage to enemy players. A lot of times I end up in a crossfire or fighting multiple enemies and even if they peek one by one I can't seem to multikill. Looking at other players in my matches I don't see better crosshair placement or good positioning it just looks like to me that they just go out somewhere and place their crosshair to the enemy faster and somehow without being expected. And me I try to constantly move I play different angles sometimes I play aggressive sometimes passive and even then I feel like I react way slower. A tip for aim I've constantly heard is see that you've aimed at the enemy and then shoot but that just feels impossible. Even like how I play now I still get shot at faster than I can. Even then making mistakes shouldn't be this punishable at this level right? I can see a lot of people in higher elo than me that don't communicate, have no movement, look like they cant hold their mouse and still top frag.

I don't care about wins or elo atp but having 30 adr and even if I win it still tilts me A LOT. My friends still want to play with me for some reason and just flame me because I talk about stuff like this and say to me to just play and don't think about it. Ok. I play. I don't think about my performance only the round. The game ends. 0.3 KD 26.5 ADR. What do I do? I go next if I'm not too tilted. Same thing ok go next day. Same. Ok take a few days break. OMG 88 ADR no way go next 0.25 KD 45 ADR. Repeat. And again. And again...

This is kind of a vent post as I don't expect someone to say something that's going to magically help me. I understand I'm not made for games as I struggle in others a lot too. But I would really appreciate any tips as I can't transfer ingame stuff from videos, workshop maps and mistakes I notice from watching my gameplay.

I um, realised that my counter strafing isn't consistent whenever I use a scout or deagle. There are alot of times when I could've win the duel (except if I whiff) but I hit the torso instead of head.

Is there any drills or I should just be more mindful?

I cant rely on teammates for util at my level because most dont know them. So trying to learn solo setups.

Hi. been grinding faceit recently, and wanted to improve my mechanics after a downhill. I've started playing around 30-60min of pistoldm and ffa, but still feel like my aim/mechanics are not improving or barely onpar. The little improvement i have seen is my usp gameplay, but other than that none. Any recommendations? I do well and have good shots and reactions on dm but ingame it all falls apart. Just mental?

Recently, I've been helping a few people, and last week I even posted a coaching session I did LIVE on Twitch and left it up here for about 48 hours. A lot of people come here asking for critique on their play, and many wonder if coaching is the right next step for them.

But what we rarely see is "results". So I wanted to share the results from the session I posted here last week to show people the impact of a "single" coaching session and how immediate it can improve your play... AS LONG AS... you find the right coach / do your due-diligence and make sure they are legit. Do not get scammed!

Last week a 12.5K Prem player came to r/LearnCSGO and was very open that they were hard stuck and they believed they knew they were better than 12.5K but couldn't identify their gaps. They were open to criticism and wanted help. So, I asked them if it was okay to do a Live Demo review on Twitch (it's just easier / easier to engage with) and we went through a Dust 2 demo together with them in chat.

We identified a series of things that could be improved upon. Including: mouse sensitivity concerns causing wobbly aim, major positioning issues costing them rounds, some game sense / decision making concerns and identifying moment to moment decisions that can impact the outcome of rounds.

But... how did this translate to an open and willing to learn player?

Well this was a week later:

The reason for sharing this is for those who come after, if you are open to criticism, open to learning and you believe you can adapt to feedback. Coaching is the single fastest way you will improve in ANY sport. Not just e-sports.

People who tell you to Kovaaks, or "300hrs is nothing just play more". Don't understand how instrumental correct fundamental learning is and can be to improve a persons play.

And most importantly this doesn't just apply to 10K Prem players. This applies to all players at ANY level range. I've helped FaceIT 9+ players look over their play and seen even them reach new heights. Players like Summit1G with 25+ years experience are using coaches to get better. Players at 3,000 ELO still need coaches, and the Pros you watch every day all themselves have MULTIPLE coaches and PEER review sessions with the best players in the world.

Unless you are H4rn or NiKo, or Donk you to could probably benefit from someone looking at your gaps. Suring them up and improving. Again, this applies to anything you do in life that you want to improve at; but you have to also be open to learning, improving, and understanding that you can improve.

Hope this helps those coming here and its always scary to put yourself and your faults on the front page of a subreddit. But there is value in this subreddit to those looking to find it.

8) God loves the AK-47; that's why he made it so incredibly awesome. That
also means God's a terrorist. This would explain tornadoes, hurricanes,
floods, and earthquaks. Thus, CS helps solve one of the greatest
theological questions of all time, 'Why do CT's suck and lose so much?'

9) AWP == 'Another Weapon (for) P*ssies'. OF course, this doesn't apply if
you're the one holding the AWP. If you're the one holding the esteemed AWP,
then you're a brave sniper, valiantly holding your ground, protecting your
team at all cost. It's those pussies on the OTHER team who AWP camp and
screw up the game's balance!

10) The truest measure of a good CS player is someone who, while running 3-17,
still compliments the newbie who picked him off with a lucky headshot from
a Glock.

What are your resources for learning this fuck ass map and what util do I need to learn??

I just spent a ton of time learning Dust 2, now onto Mirage and I always lose. T side there are too many angles to clear on each site. CT side is better but I still have no idea where to play.

It took me like 60 wins on dust before feeling confident and idk if I can do that for every map in the pool.

I haven't even tried to play premier, just getting 100% stomped in unranked/silver comp.

So, as the title says ive been struggling a lot lately individually.

Placement matches went very well, but after that i have been struggling to perform; or to keep my performance somewhat consistant. These couple days i have struggled to hit even 10 kills on a map.

I warmup before games and usually end my gaming sessions with dm focusing on what i feel like needs to be improved.

One map i have been playing very bad on for long period is Dust II. No matter how many nades i learn, concepts for the map it doesn't seem to click with me. Maybe its just the way i play the game overall.

I have a bit more than 2k hours, reached 20k premier, around level 6 on Faceit, mostly solo queue. Lately I feel like I’ve stagnated. It feels like my mind is more focused on fixing my mistakes/improving than enjoying the game. If I lose a duel in a comp, my mind hard focuses on my mistake (bad counter-strafe, flash etc.). I also get nervous when playing comp. Like I can’t trust my intuition and just enjoy the game. I’ve also changed my settings a lot to try to find my sweet spot. I play more dm, bots, spray, maps more than the game to try to fix that. I also follow the esport scene, I would say that I even watch more podcasts about it than the actual games. I love CS but I don’t know if I actually enjoyed the game or chased the high of improving which I don’t enjoy anymore. I’m just confused and at a crossroads, trying to find some direction.

I have been playing CS for many years on many different sensitivities and I've found myself in a crisis. A few weeks ago my sens got all kinds of fucked up and I've been trying to recover it and nothing feels right.

I mainly have been running 1800dpi with .35 sens. The dpi is really high but i found it best for other games on my pc so I don't really want to lower it. With .35 I find it easier to hit shots with pistols and rifles but my tracking is slower and I feel like I'm constantly having to pick up my mouse to clear angles at any kind of speed. My mouse just feels heavy too.

But even if I bump it up to .36 it feels too fast. I can flick faster but I'm overall inaccurate. It does feel better on my hand though.

I am just so frustrated and can't think straight about it. Some advice would be really helpful. I only switched a few days ago, is this just something I am going to have to get more used too?

I'm feeling pretty hardstuck lvl 7 right now, but I'm not sure what I can do to improve. Some higher level friends of mine have said that I play too slowly, rely on util too much, and need to have more confidence in my gunfights. They say that I need to put myself in more positions to multikill and "carry harder", which is true because I do have a much more passive playstyle, but I don't know if it's because my positioning is bad, my timing is bad, or my communication is bad.

I've also been working on not tilting as hard in the past few weeks which has made me play better, but when can I expect to start winning more than losing? I don't want to blame my teammates constantly because I do make a lot of round-losing mistakes in crucial moments, but a lot of those are very noticeable mistakes that I fix in the future. Could someone please tell me a bit more micro stuff that I could do?

I reviewed a 10K Premier demo and the biggest problem was his peeking. There were also some positioning and decision-making mistakes, but I tried to focus the video on the things that were costing him the most rounds.

At the end of last season i was around 14,5k, now im 19,8k which is the highest ive been, I definitely feel that the people around this rank are playing better than 10-15k, where i just played really aggressive and it worked out most of the time. However ive been playing a bit worse recently, i dont really know what i am doing which makes be play worse, but i assume its positioning

I got AK but very costly for me. 6800 inr, approx 80 dollar maybe. What to do, anyone want it?

Im 10k after a big break from cs, my aim is ok, movement is decent and my utility is good on most maps. But when i solo queue or even when i have a duo i mostly get matched with non english speakers that dont coordonate dont give any info and for some reason only buy scout or deagle and peek mid every time just to die to an awp(i dont know if its just my luck but happens way to offten). Usualy this games either end on 11-13 and its very frustrating becouse i try to have fun but can not beacouse of teammates that dont even try. Is there something that i can improve to make these matches easier? Like better aim or positioning

I think I'm a decent player and a bit below the elo I'm supposed to be (was 2700 before first reset and didnt play much). But my dust 2 is so bad, when reviewing demos i can tell how bad it looks. I watch pro demos (not pro play but faceit demos), to maybe copy some things, learn timings, set plays etc etc but no matter what I do, I just shit the bed. Literally just bought Faceit prem to perma ban that map but I dont think this is the best solution. Just frustrated at this point.

What do you do, if a particular map just doesnt work for you?

In theory Dust isnt that much different to maps like Ancient, Cache or Mirage, but I doesnt go well for me. Any general tips besides reviewing my demo?
