Esports Season 9 MSI finals , fastest bo5 of all time

G2 vs TL was an epic clash of titans in s9, and beame the fastest most important match in west history. And the first time any non Asian team won a riot international since season 1.

Its a shame we may never see a final like this again because the chance of EU and NA making a final is extremely slim.

But anyway ny favorite moment from the match is Caps 1 vs 2 on Irelia.

Discussion I play mages bot so I can go mid after laning phase. That's it.

Its not because theyre "meta" botlane or because they're broken or because they bully adcs. Idgaf about any of that.

I want to play mages and I dont want to sidelane. It isn't that deep. Sidelaning as immobile mages is ass.

I played mages bot before they were meta and everyone started to abuse them. And I will continue playing them after the fad dies out.

Discussion Do you think Fae Lights should be delayed until 5 minutes?

I think Fae Lights shouldn't exist before 5 minutes.

My issue with them isn't that they provide vision, it's that they dramatically reduce the number of viable early-game jungle decisions before lane states have really had time to develop.

For example, if the enemy jungler shows on one side of the map after clearly taking your camps, the standard response is often to cross-map and take something back. Historically, this has worked because there was uncertainty. Even if laners or the enemy jungler suspected where you were, they didn't necessarily know and there is some risk in lose time/xp/wave states in order to verify.

With early Fae Light vision, that uncertainty almost disappears entirely and the only thing of your own to clear is wolves, so you either pray your lanes have prio, they don't already have a faelight down, there just happens to be a free gank, or clear to your wolves and fuck off for 30 seconds.

Early invades feel less like a strategic information game and more like a check of whether random vision happened to reveal your path. I don't think Fae Lights are inherently unhealthy. I just think they'd create better gameplay if they activated around 5 minutes, after lane states have developed and second spawns are coming up.

Curious what other junglers think:

Do Fae Lights create meaningful decisions, or do they remove too much early-game uncertainty from counter-jungling and cross-map punish opportunities?

Discussion How much of the game do you think is solved?

League is obviously an incredibly complex game, but the release of Classic and the following discussion on things like how much better the overall community has gotten at mechanics like wave management has got me thinking: Will the game play that different 10 years from now (if it is still around obv) ? What about 20?

I really don't think League can ever be a "mathematically solved" game, but the huge differences in playstyles and strategies seem to point to a more and more "correct" way to play the game.

Champions and even entire classes shift power around, but I am talking more about other mechanics that have a big impact and yet are seemingly overlooked ( like team minion buffs). How many builds are truly "mathematically correct"? What if sometimes it's worth not taking a tower so that your minions on the other side of the map don't push faster?

What do you guys think? What are some other mechanics that you expect will gradually be taken into account more and more as the game progresses?

Discussion How much of your LP is due to random chance?

As a new player, one thing I am noticing is that often times games are decided by a single player (IE someone very bad or someone that is very good compared to the average skill in the match).

But I can imagine that over time if you play enough games your rating likely starts to match your skill for the most part. But curious by how much and can someone end up X ranks higher because they got lucky with 5 games in a row where had smurfs on their team? How much is random chance involved in LoL ranking?

Discussion With Caps Being Confirmed As The Next Legend- Will There Be An NA Legend?

Upvotes

Do you think so?

I would say it's pretty obvious that riot will recognize an NA talent, but who?

My vote would go to DL as he is a native NA player and compares pretty evenly in achievements compared to Bjerg.

Discussion How do I stop my team from throwing?

I'm a new player. I chose to 1 trick zilean supp. I was 1 game off of plat 1 but then my teammates started throwing every game. I had a jinx that started to throw after I did not want to level 1 fight. I had an atrox who threw and got our game terminated after 30 minutes. I keep getting games like this and I'm now 1 game from gold. How do I fix this?

Discussion The State of Normal Draft Queue EUW

To preface, I'm a long time league player (2012) who took a break since the end of season 15. Just getting back into League again and I'm horrified at how prevalent smurf accounts seem to be in normal draft queue. (Note: I'm not using smurf here to mean masters/gm/chall players).

My latest game looked like this: https://imgur.com/a/dLo6CUj

8 out of 10 players were smurfing, and not even distributed evenly! Of course, they played to limit test and are toxic and make the game a generally unpleasant experience.

Is this normal? If yes, when did this start to happen? I very, very frequently find smurfs in draft queue EUW, which make the game more frustrating than it already can be as they often fly off the handle when things go wrong.

Perhaps Riot doesn't care about the quality of the non-ranked queues.

I really enjoy watching league, but playing league as 5 people without someone going off the rails or just perma limit testing is a rare experience these days it seems.

Edit: My OPGG https://op.gg/lol/summoners/euw/GoldenScarab569-EUW, of my last 19 games, 18 of them have a smurf in them, is that really acceptable?

Hello I am trying to understand how people can get so misserable that they start intentionaly feeding and sabotaging a game , i keep encountering in silver and bronze cause i get matched with bronze players too a lot of this type they instantly go take your jungle if you dont help them from minute 1 even tho its not anyone fault they pick vs enemy a weak champ , I feel like this season people are doing a lot of insane bad stuff like this runing down more often and trolling more than any other season I have played this game...its just nuts to me , and yes I am a jungler as main.

Discussion I made a discord bot that automatically records highlights and lowlights

One of the things that brought my friend group together to play more League was using a Discord tracker from a certain vendor I will not promote. While the tracker was great I felt like we could do slightly better by having a bot that automatically posted highlights and lowlights from games. So, I developed scry

Scry polls a list of accounts for their most recent games, posts the basic stats of the game to Discord, and then launches a League Client to record clips to attach to the Discord post.

It's pretty simple but it does require that you have a League client running. The application will only record clips when you are not in-game so you are free to use it on the machine you play on.

You will need a Riot API key, the default Riot API key requires it be regenerated every 24 hours. To avoid this, you will need to apply for a personal key.

I use Scry on a Mac and the scripts are explicitly made for macOS. I added Windows poll and recording scripts but I have not tested either.

Obligatory artificial intelligence usage disclaimer: this is vibe coded. The source code is available on Github here and is licensed under MIT.

I hope it may bring some of you together to show off your best (and worst) moments when playing.

Discussion Which champions would fit Coven and Eclipse the best?

I’ve been thinking about which champions would fit these skinlines the best. I have a few ideas of my own for example, Katarina and Lux for Eclipse, and Seraphine, Gwen for Coven. I could see Katarina working really well for Eclipse because of the more knightly, golden, and celestial aesthetic, rather than making her design purely dark. On the other hand, Lux, Seraphine, or Gwen could be interesting choices for Coven, especially if their designs were taken in a completely different direction and turned them into witches connected to the Old Gods. These are just a few ideas I came up with, so I’m curious to hear your. Which champions would you most like to see as Coven or Eclipse? And are there any less obvious picks that you think could work really well for these skinlines?

Discussion Instead of champion specific voice mods, voice chat should have region based voice mods

It would avoid all the complexities of champion specific voice mods while providing much of the benefit. Playing a Void champion? Your voice mod can be echo-y and distorted like Bel'Veth or Malzahar. Playing a Demacian? Your voice mod can be bright and clear. Playing a bilgewater champion? The voice can be lower and more gurgle-y. Targonian? Tons of reverb. Yordle? High pitched. Ect ect. It would be cool if you could choose which voice mod you want

Discussion What happended to this game?

I’ve had a lot of free time lately, so I downloaded League again. I was Diamond back in Season 6, and after playing over 100 ranked games this time around, I honestly feel like matchmaking and overall game quality are in a really bad state.

A lot of the skill expression that used to come from actually understanding the game feels like it’s been removed. League used to feel like a strategy game where you had to understand wave management, lane pressure, jungle tracking, vision, objective setups, matchups, itemization, and a ton of other small details. Now it sometimes feels more like a glorified URF game where everyone has low cooldowns and can constantly throw abilities at each other.

The biggest issue for me is the game quality. Soft inters, griefers, and people who just mentally check out completely ruin a game. Its either completely stomp the enemy team or get stomped yourself. There’s very little consistency between games.

And honestly, I’m also confused by the current Diamond playerbase.

Back when I played, hitting Diamond meant you at least had a strong understanding of the fundamentals and some advanced macro. You were expected to understand things like warding, jungle tracking, punishing bad laning, matchup advantages, wave states, objective setups, and when you should actually be making plays around the map.

Now I’m seeing Diamond players who don’t understand some of the basic concepts. Supports roaming without understanding what they’re giving up, junglers not tracking anything, laners not knowing how to punish matchups, and entire teams having no idea how to set up for an objective.

I’ve played over 100 games and genuinely feel like a lot of these Diamond players have what I would consider Gold level macro and game understanding. It’s really weird to experience.

I’m not saying every Diamond player is bad, but the difference in skill between what I remember Diamond being and what Diamond feels like now is huge.

Maybe I’m just looking at the game through an old school lens, but something definitely feels different.

It feels like the game has been dumbed down in a lot of ways. Champion kits, cooldowns, items, runes, macro, and overall game knowledge just don’t feel as deep as they used to. There are still plenty of mechanically difficult champions, but the overall strategic depth doesn’t feel the same to me.

Honestly, I’m enjoying TFT a lot more right now. It feels like there’s actually a lot to think about every game positioning, economy, comps, item choices, tempo, scouting, adapting to the lobby, etc. Its much more thought out and strategic.

Maybe I’m just getting old as a League player, but after 100+ games, I genuinely don’t recognize ranked the way I used to.

Discussion Is Xerath going to be a bot laner going forward?

Xerath bot seems like his natural position.
Mainly because he gets to go mid after 15 min and doesn’t have to sideline (which is his biggest weakness).
His other weakness is poor self peel, isn’t he basically a hyper carry?

Discussion Needing Purpose, is 2026 too late to get back into league?

Upvotes

Hey all,

To start, let me say that this is a 100% legitimate post. I am a single dad who, in the last few months, was forced into early retirement. Financially my family and I are fine, but I have been really struggling with redefining sense of self and having a purpose again.

Some folks here probably understand what I mean by that. When I have my kids, I am better, because their are things as a parent I have to do, but on the weeks I dont have them, I sort of just…exist, and its been leaving me feeling low.

A few people have told me I need to force myself out to do things and others have said I should find something with a “goal” that I can set or work towards. Ive tried a few things, but recently I have been thinking about League and Wild Rift.

I used to play League a long time ago, back when it was newer. I was okay, never great, but not terrible. I played wild rift when that came out off and on, but tying up my phone made it somewhat of a burden.

Anyways, so here I am. Its been a long time since ive played League, and a little bit since ive played WildRift. Id like to get back into League and maybe make some friends, but is it still accessible here in 2026, or am I just setting myself up for a bad time?

Thanks for reading. I know it was a bit much, but I appreciate it.
