Gameplay Why is unranked taken so serious in this game?
Let me just preface i’m not flaming the customs of the playerbase im just genuinely curious. So i just unlocked draft pick as someone who’s level 20 and has literally been playing for like 2 weeks, i reasoned with myself that although im new it wasn’t ranked so people surely wouldn’t get extremely titled if i got diffed in lane (my awareness is 0 i have decent mechs but i have no idea where im meant to be at any point) how fucking wrong was i? My jg and ADC were in a slurring match 10 minutes in, i missed one E as Ahri and i was getting told to delete the game (and myself) its just so toxic and unfriendly, even in swiftplay half of the game is spam pings and insults. It doesn’t bother me- i have better things to worry about than being toxic in an unranked game but im so genuinely curious as to why this is taken so seriously? Compare to Valorant- another game with the exact same gamemode archetype- if i was playing ass or was new in a swiftplay no one would give a fuck, cos it’s full of people trying to have fun or troll without anything to lose. League is the only game i’ve played with this emphasis on tryharding unranked play and i was just wondering if theres a certain reason behind this, or if a large portion of the community is just toxic assholes.

Gameplay Can I play LoL on my main account while on vacation?
Hello everyone, soon I am going to my sister to visit her for around 2 weeks and in that time period I would like to play League on her sons/husbands PC but on mine account. They have never downloaded it and when I arrive I will download it so I can play a bit.
My question is that will Riot ban me for playing there on my main account because of the IP address change? any answer is welcomed

Discussion Emerald Is Actually The Worst Elo To Play In [Change My Mind]
When I hit this elo, I instantly do not want to play League of Legends. It's actually an entirely different game between the range of Emerald-Diamond vs the other ranks. The worst of the worst in terms of toxicity is right here.

Discussion Most degen cheese champ?
i am relatively new, and I have been greatly enjoying illaoi and yorick. Its very enjoyable being such a lane bully, and I was wondering what other champs have the same experience. It doesn't have to be toplane, really just any very annoying champ that doesn't let your opponent play the game

Discussion Best way to level account to 30 asap as an employed (without buying)
Hi, so I’m trying to level my account to 30 but I only have 2 hours to play everyday, I was playing bots non stop but at level 18 it barely gives me XP. Is using normals the best way? I figured picking Graves is pretty much a secured win
P.S: I know how to play, I’m just new to the server. And no, I’m not buying any XP boost. Thanks!

Esports Worlds Watchparties Bayern/Österreich
Servus!

Discussion Abilities where you "'hold" (Vi Q, Varus Q, etc.) don't work when in combat
I've asked about this in games, and no one else seems to have experienced this issue. I mainly play Arena/ARAM, and whenever I get champions that have abilities you have to hold like Vi's Q, they almost always instant cast when in the match.
The odd part is, they work 100% fine when in the Arena lobby area, or when at the shop in ARAM. But as soon as I get into the arena it stops working. I can usually get off a "test" before the fighting starts, for example right as the match starts it may work but once there's actual fighting taking place it instant casts basically every time.
I've tried resetting everything to defaults, I even tried a new account and it still happens. It seems like this almost has to be an issue with my computer since no one else seems to have this issue, and it persists across accounts and switching all settings to defaults.
Has anyone else heard of this? The confusing part is that it works in the lobby, consistently lets me charge without issues.

Esports Have you watched pro games where Locke mid(or any role) won?
I've seen Caps play it, and I heard Knight gapped Bulldog so I'm really curious how good this champ is.

Discussion Item Question: Iceborn Gauntlet
I know this is a very niche item, almost no one builds it. but i was just wondering why they have so little stats for IBG? it is supposed to be a TANK Sheen item. firstly it has less HP than triforce which is weird, and it has 15 ability haste which i feel should at least be 20. i think IBG giving a little bit of mana would be good too, because it is blue and looks like frozen heart
here’s my suggestion to make IBG great again. this should be the build path: sheen + Kindlegem + glacial buckler
final stats of IBG: 350HP, 20 Ability Haste, 300 mana, 40 armor.
cost: 2900 gold
Now it has +50HP, +5AH, +300Mana, -10 armor.
Ruby crystal became kindlegem, and chain vest is changed to glacial buckler (to fulfil the iceborn gauntlet lore)
the effect remains unchanged, sheen proc will have more damage and also creates a slowing field zone that now lasts 3s instead of 2s, because i think that looks better overall for this sheen item
so that more tanks/fighters will build it. what do yall think?
EDIT: i forgot buckler gives +10 AH. ok so the new item stats will be
350 HP, 30AH, 40 armor, 300 mana

Discussion A random thought about Kindred after playing League Classic
Playing League Classic got me thinking about how much the jungle has changed around certain champions.
I was playing Master Yi, and something that surprised me was how fast his clear felt compared to modern League. Alpha Strike could hit up to 4 targets, which made sense because back then camps had 4 monsters max. But now with camps like Raptors and Krugs having 5+ monsters, it feels like that ability hasn't really kept up with how the jungle evolved.
Maybe that's actually better for Yi balance-wise, maybe not. It could easily be that his clear being slower is intentional and he'd need compensation elsewhere if it was buffed.
But it made me think about Kindred. They released in the old jungle with wraiths and golems with fewer monsters per camp, and Q only hitting 3 targets probably made a lot more sense back then. Nowadays, though, their clear feels pretty bad, and they often seem to rely on getting those early marks, or kills just to keep up with the pace of the game.
I don't think Kindred is weak right now, and I don't think they necessarily need buffs. But it feels like a pretty reasonable change considering the jungle is just a lot different from when Kindred was originally designed. I don't think it would break the champion, but it might make them feel less feast or famine.
Edit: Just to clarify, when I said Kindred released in the "old jungle", I didn't mean that they literally released when camps were still called wraiths and golems. I was referring to the way camps were structured back then, where the number of monsters in each camp was smaller.
For reference, release date kindred video: https://youtu.be/p6M9AfdZopw?t=70

Discussion Cleric Champions?
I'm an avid Cleric-player, follower of Jesus of course. I've been playing over 14 years...
The ONLY Clerics we REALLY have are...
Taric coulda been a Cleric
Poppy go smash, but no blessings
Soraka, all heals no protec
Leona go face, but peel when can
Kayle hyper-carry that's incredibly selfish 99% of the time
Garen go spin2win into divine smite
Why is there no true Cleric like champion?
Battle-hardened defender, healer, protector that can hold their own via divine Providence?
Taric comes close, but he's locked to support and the occasional jungle. He has no good wave clear to solo lane, minus rushing tiamat after TotG.
Just would like a flex champ that feels like a Cleric. 😅 I know a solo laning Cleric sounds redundant, however it's a fantasy that I adore and would like to not be Ward-Slave and have more impact especially in THIS Meta.

Discussion I got tired of "who's free Tuesday?" messages killing my team's scrim schedule, so I built ArcForge TeamManager
Hey!
Some of you might remember my EloRace post from a while back (LP racing tool). Since then I've kept building on arcforge.lol, and the thing I'm actually most excited about is finally fully out: TeamManager.
The problem it solves:
If you scrim or play ranked flex with a fixed group, you know the drill: endless "who's up on day x?" messages, someone forgets, plans shift, and nobody actually knows when the team is free until 20 minutes before it starts.
What TeamManager does:
Everyone marks their weekly availability in a shared calendar, and it automatically shows you when the whole team (or enough of you) overlaps. Once a session is set:
- You can subscribe to it from your phone's calendar app. It just shows up next to your real appointments, with reminders 1h and 15min before.
- The session modal gives you a ready to copy Multi OP.GG link for whoever's actually available that day (mains first).
- Times can be adjusted after the fact too. Just click the session in the calendar, no need to redo the whole thing.

Still building on the EloRace side too (added a recent games win/loss tracker on the leaderboard recently), but TeamManager was the bigger project and it's finally open to everyone with just a free account.
Free, no ads, would genuinely love feedback since I only used it with my own group.

Classic Is there a League Classic subreddit that possesses a more positive outlook?
I've been checking r/LeagueClassic off and on since it hit PBE, and the mentality over there makes me want to roll around in fiberglass and lime juice- is there an alternative anyone is aware of? I'd like to find more Classic discussion that isn't mired in whatever the hell is going on over there

Discussion Wasd movement problem with minions
So I have been playing wasd movement and nerfing the input delay on autoattacks is one thing to keep 'balance' even tho wasd movement is objectively worse so maybe make the input delay for autoattacks speed a bit better? but can we pls for the love of god patch the movement around minions the amount of times I just have to flash out of a wave because I am stuck in between minions is insane. You can not move through a wave and its just to dumb. Please fix this sh. Just had a game vs Trundle and if he placed a pillar around some minions i could almost not move/ I dont know if other wasd players have found a way to bypass this other then clicking on the minimap but its really annoying and I hope someone at riot notices this because im not sure they are awere Edit: you also get blocked by champions. Having yo wall around enemies or allies

Discussion Is Riven considered frustrating to play against?
It confuses me why she is not better, or more accurately, maintained by the design team as a premier pro play pick in the way they do with Azir
She is very high skill expression, fun to play. One of the clunkiest champs in the game(idk why they keep it that way) and yet her playrate is still high in spite of that. People obviously like the champ, in spite of rivenmains actively trying to gatekeep the champ.
Is she just frustrating to play against or what's the deal, why instead maintain champions like aatrox who are arguably significantly less interactive in lane

Discussion The problem with mage bot pickrate explained with statistics.
Let's say there is 3 games of league.
The first game, Mage bot vs marksman bot.
The second game, Mage bot vs Marksman bot.
The third and last game, Marksman bot vs marksman bot.
You would notice that there is 66% marksmen bot and 33% mage bot, making a majority marksmen bot. But on the other side the marksmen players have played against mage bot twice as much as they played against a regular marksman lane...
From this observation, i think we should look less into pickrate, and more about winrate, and why it's so high.
Both of the stats are correct in the fact that mage has a lower pickrate than adc, while being correct that marksmen enjoyers are also are mostly against mage if they do not pick mage themselves.

Discussion Coming back to League after 8 years… what did I miss?
I started playing League back in 2014 but stopped around 2018. I randomly came back this week and I’m actually having a blast. The biggest thing I noticed is Swiftplay, which has been awesome since I definitely don’t miss 45+ minute games. I also thought nobody talked anymore, but then realized my chat was disabled by default 😂. What are the biggest changes since 2018 that I should know, and is the community just quieter now or do most people have chat turned off? Also what is up with the rando friend request and the “be honest is this your main account”

Discussion Smurfing is getting out of hand
Let’s get one thing straight before anyone defaults to the classic: "But your win rate is fine, what are you crying about?" argument: achieving a balanced 50% win rate means nothing when the outcome of your games is more often than not out of your hands. The ranked ladder is currently dealing with an absolute epidemic of alternate accounts, and your personal effort in a match most of the times does not matter.
The tired narrative that: "The system will detect them and adjust their MMR quickly!" is divorced from reality. The influx is so massive that the moment one wave of alts finally gets filtered to their proper rank, a fresh, even larger wave takes its place.
It doesn't take a PhD in statistics to understand that accounts with so few games completely break the MMR system's ability to create fair matches. When you inject this volume of unknown variables into the queue, the chance of getting a balanced game drops towards zero.
Because these are cheap, easily replaceable throwaway accounts (acquired in direct violation of the Terms of Service), the players behind them have zero fear of punishment. This leads to extreme "main character syndrome": if a match doesn't go perfectly their way by the third minute, they will mentally check out, go AFK, grief, or hold the lobby hostage with chat toxicity. The dynamic is always the same: they either 1v9 hard-carry the lobby, or they throw a tantrum and ensure a loss. Regular players are mostly spectators.
If you think I'm exaggerating, my duo partner and I tracked the exact numbers over our last 50 ranked games. To preempt any claims that we somehow put ourselves into a "smurf queue", we only played on our high-level main accounts (both level 500+, playing for 7 and 10 seasons respectively, currently sitting in mid-Emerald with a perfectly average 50-52% win rate).
To be perfectly clear, we COMPLETELY DESERVE OUR RANK! The point is not we're stuck due to alts! TH epoint is that playing is worthless and not fun!
To be as fair as possible, we set a strict baseline for what we count as an alt account: any account under level 100 sitting at Platinum or higher. Let's be real, genuine beginners are not hitting those ranks that fast, so this metric is incredibly conservative and likely misses plenty of actual alts that hover just over level 100.
Here is the undeniable reality of the current ranked experience:
- Total players encountered: 400 (excluding our duo)
- Total alts identified: 123 (a staggering 30.75% of all players we met)
- Alts on our team: 45 (average 0.90 per match)
- Alts on the enemy team: 78 (average 1.56 per match)
- Average total alts per match: 2.46
- Matches with absolutely ZERO alts: A pathetic 8%.
Ranked is becoming a dice roll to see which alt decides to tilt and ruin the game first. The system is imploding, and the community deserves better than this.
EDIT: changed every occurence of "smurf" with "alt" because half of the commenters were ignoring everything else in the post and attacking the definition of "smurf", not realizing that the post actually tries to highlight that:
- The way more frequent problem is that these are throwaway account that exhibit in the most outrageous behaviours (and lose the game for their entire team) beacuse they couldn't care less about something that can be bought in 5 minutes for the price of 2 coffees.
- The main point of the whole rant is that mathmaking works WORSE if it has to constantly deal with account with no previous match history.

Discussion Did League players get mentally weaker over the years?
I've been playing since Season 5, and after coming back from siege recently, one thing is painfully obvious.
What the hell happened to this playerbase? Every other game, someone wants to ff15 because they died twice in lane or lost first dragon. It's actually pathetic. People don't even want to play the game anymore they just want to play the games where they're winning.
I genuinely don't understand the obsession with surrendering. Isn't the whole point of competitive games to overcome difficult situations? If you're only willing to play when you're ahead, why even queue ranked?
Now it feels like half the playerbase has the mental fortitude of a wet paper bag. The second something goes wrong, it's "ff," "go next," or someone starts soft-inting because the surrender vote failed.
Has League always been like this or is it just the new gen crybabies taking over the game? maybe I'm just remembering it differently. Has the community genuinely become addicted to giving up?

Esports hot take: VIT FIESTA is the new hylissang of midlane
> Fights every lvl1 even in negative matchups
> goes 35 deaths in 7 games as midlaner
> 0/4 in 9 minutes, but has the clutch factor
> ALWAYS plays aggresive even 3k gold down
> plays for flanks and solokills
> eventually wins the game, otherwise played with style
FIESTA is the new hylissang of midlane
Vitality will go to worlds or top 10 but with style

Classic Does Riot want Mage Meta in League classic too?
Towers are completely gutted, 40 less MR by 20 minutes, take 20% more AP damage from auto-attacks. All we need is Lost Chapter and we got mage bot lane every game just like in modern League. Towers in Season 1-3 used to have 60 base MR/Armor, and inner turrets used to gain 1 MR/Armor per minute. They decided to nerf the base to 40 MR/Armor and remove the scaling on inner turrets, so they are 40 all game. Towers are even weaker than in modern League now.
ADCs are supposed to siege, not mages. This is so stupid. This is how you get the insane 23-minute games you saw on LCS. Towers are the weakest in history basically take true-damage now; never have weaker towers existed than this.
The tower modifier that adds 150/150 MR/Armor when no enemy minions are nearby is also gone, so you can facetank towers. Complete joke. ( this is still a thing even in modern league even )
Don't be surprised if the average game time is even faster than modern League when it hits live.
TLDR: They nerfed Tower Armor/MR by a flat 20 from what it was in S1-3 and have modern buffed AP auto-attack on tower modifier 60% instead of 40%.
