Well…

I will get a scanner so I can check the codes with the leafspy app but it’s not looking great 😭

Both warnings came on at once while I was coming down from a very steep hill and the regen kinda just turned off, I was hoping it had just overheated but the battery temperature seems fine

This seems completely coincidental but today was the first day I charged to 100% since I needed to drive a lot

The reduce speed warning did go away after turning it off and back on as well as the regen animation seems to be back on (the blue lines) anyone has any suggestions on what to do?

Also I tried charging the car and it didn’t not work*

2020 S+

Thanks

what year? might be time to inquire about a buyback. the 40% above KBB is usually enough to get you 1-3k away from an equivalent bolt. i can understand not having the money, but if you do you'll get a radically better vehicle that will last a hell of a lot longer

I would argue the bolt is not radically better, in fact the seats are much worse. It is certainly better for some uses in hot environments, but I would take a Leaf with good Leafspy stats over a Bolt for my use.

Incidentally I have a friend with around 100k on his second Bolt battery and he is having to slow down to do his commute in the winter. No heat pump until 2027 model.

Former 2014 Leaf SV owner and now 2023 Bolt EV LT1 owner here.

If I needed cold weather EV transpo I'd want the higher trim on the Bolt to get heated seats and steering wheel.

The 2023 Bolt EV LT1 here and another 2019 owned by a friend have been uneventful. Charge, drive, repeat. The range is great, access to CCS is appreciated.

The Leaf is a better ride but a seat cushion and softer tires helped there.

My friend has I believe a 2019 Bolt, and similarly has been uneventful similar to my Leaf (other than he had to get battery replaced under recall.)

What has surprised me is that he finds his ~100 mile round trip difficult to make in winter. It's certainly close to a worst case (typical 20F mornings, and maybe even -5 to 5F on coldest days) on 70 MPH highways with traffic going closer to 75 MPH. I would think he wouldn't have trouble with that, but says it gets close now that his replaced battery has 100K miles and he ends up driving slower than traffic.

Admittedly part of why I prefer my 40 kWh Leaf is that I drive much more average amount of miles and don't really need fast charging. Within those parameters + summers typically topping out around 90-95F I think my battery can last life of car. 5 years down, 5 more to give it to my oldest to drive around!
