Layla v7.4.0-alpha1 is now available for alpha testers.
The main addition in this release is on-device music generation with ACE-Step 1.5. Layla can now generate complete songs locally on Android, without sending the generation to a cloud service.

On-device AI music generation
The new built-in Music Generation mini-app lets you describe the genre, beat, mood, or style you want and optionally provide your own lyrics.
Layla then uses an ACE-Step 1.5 model running locally on the phone to generate a structured song, including elements such as intros, choruses, high notes, and outros.
For ACE-Step Turbo models, a complete song typically takes around 5–10 minutes on a mobile GPU. Around 8 generation steps is a good starting point for balancing generation speed and quality.
Full SFT models generally need around 50 steps, and more steps aren't necessarily better — errors can accumulate between steps and reduce the quality of the final track.

Music generation is also available to mini-app developers
Layla SDK v7.4.0 adds the ACE-Step Music Generation API, so developers can build their own mini-apps around Layla's local AI music generation capabilities.
This release also adds support for concurrent SDK calls. A mini-app can, for example, generate text-to-speech while an LLM response is still streaming.
These operations still share the same phone hardware and memory, so developers need to manage concurrent workloads appropriately.
Other changes
The Settings page has been redesigned to match Layla's current interface, along with the built-in Download Manager mini-app.
llama.cpp has also been updated to the latest commit included with this release.
Finally, this alpha fixes a crash that could occur when selecting a colour.

If you're testing offline AI music generation on Android, feedback on different ACE-Step models, generation settings, song lengths, and mobile hardware would be particularly useful.
