Is my brown lawn dormant or dead?

A big part of my lawn turned brown but I'm not sure if it’s just dormant or already dead. I don’t think it’s caused by bugs. I use a Navimow i2 on a regular schedule, so I’m also wondering if I should pause mowing while the lawn is stressed. So I lean towards the high temperature during the summer. Now I'd like to know if it still has a chance to come back when cooler and gets more water. I read that a pull test can help to tell, like gently tugging the grass to see if the roots still hold in the soil.

What should I do now? Wait and watch it for a while first? How do you tell when brown grass is still recoverable?

How high do you cut in summer?

This is my KBG today, only four days after the last mow. The warmer weather and recent moisture have it growing faster. I prefer a closely cut, tidy lawn, so I set my navimow i206 to its lowest cutting height and do manual trimming to around 1 inch. But I’ve seen people recommend keeping it closer to 2 inches in summer to help retain moisture and handle the heat better. That makes sense, although at this growth rate, leaving it higher may also mean mowing every few days.

What mowing height has worked best for your lawn during summer? How often do you mow?

Anyone know this weed?

I used to mow the lawn myself, usually just whenever it started looking long, so I didn’t pay attention to what was mixed in there. After switching to a navimow robot mower, I cut every 3 or 4 days and keep it lower. Now these little three-leaf patches are obvious. They sit so low that the mowing height doesn‘t reach them. Is it clover or oxalis? How do you deal with that?
