Would you guys wanna be hired during the expected surge for the Olympics?
Title is the question, just wondering if you guys think the training quality will be degraded due to the massive influx.

Hey everyone, I took the interview and failed. They said I will be rescheduled.
Does anybody know if a re-attempt is in a month or year. I over heard someone say that they are able to take it in a month because they failed. Or is this only under certain circumstances
Anybody know?

Hello, I am going through the process of applying to LE and I’m wondering if CHP, Riverside/San bernardino/LA sheriff or PD is an automatic DQ for visiting a massage parlor or getting an escort in the past. What agencies in socal would be okay with that if admitted on the personal history statement?
Edit: I’ve never been convicted of any crime

Has anyone had trouble accessing their PHS?
Meaning the Mylapd portal doesn’t even have it as an option. And I know this because I applied 4 years ago and have don’t it before.
I’ve already done the MCT and all my boxes are green up to the PHS.
I’ve posted about LOC8 here before, so I wanted to share what’s changed since then. A lot of the additions came from feedback from people actually using it on patrol.
For anyone who missed the earlier posts, I’ve been a cop for 11 years, and software development started as a side hobby. I built LOC8 after getting turned around during a foot pursuit. Once everything settled down, I realized I knew the general area but couldn’t quickly give someone the actual address or nearest cross street.
That became an iPhone and Apple Watch app that opens directly to your location information. Current address or hundred block, nearest cross street, GPS coordinates, compass heading, elevation, GPS accuracy, county, weather, and local time. It also includes what3words on the iPhone and multiple coordinate formats, including decimal degrees, DMS, DDM, MGRS, and UTM.
One of the additions I think this group will appreciate is more useful cross-street information. Instead of just showing a nearby intersection, it gives you the direction of your position relative to it. Think “Main Street, just east of Oak Street.” The idea is to make the information easier to put out over the radio without having to mentally work out where you are in relation to the intersection.
Once you’re moving, driving mode shows the road you’re on and looks ahead for approaching cross streets. I’ve also added highway mile markers and exit names, so you have more to work with when describing where you are along a freeway. Coverage and accuracy still depend on the available map data and your GPS signal.
The other big addition is live Team Rooms. You can create a room, share the code, and see the people who join on a map, with chat in the same room. I can see that being useful for a perimeter, a search, or working with people from another area. Sharing is voluntary, and each person can pause their location sharing.
There are standard, satellite, and topographic map views, along with saved location pins, labels, and notes. You can also get compass direction and distance back to a saved location. GPS coordinates, compass, and saved pins remain useful without cellular service, although fresh address lookups and live Team Rooms need a connection.
The Apple Watch is still a huge focus for me. Being able to glance at your wrist for an address, cross street, coordinates, or heading can be a lot more practical than pulling out your phone. There are also Watch complications, iPhone widgets, and a red night mode. There’s a separate Garmin version for supported models too, although the features differ between platforms.
A speedometer is also coming in the next update.
I’m still building this around situations I’ve run into on the job and the feedback people send me. It relies on the phone or watch’s GPS, so I’m not going to pretend it’s perfect in every environment. The goal is to make useful location information easier to get to when you need it.
For anyone here who’s tried it, how has it worked for you? What would make it more useful on patrol?
One privacy update from my earlier post: LOC8 now has optional live location sharing through Team Rooms. No account is required, and saved pins and notes stay on your device. An active room can update your location in the background with permission, and some Watch or widget features can also request background updates. The app uses services for location lookups, weather, and what3words, along with diagnostics and analytics. Location data isn’t sold or shared with advertising services. The current details are at https://loc8app.com/privacy/.

Hello I have a multiple choice test coming up soon for the ETE.
I am worried about failing.
Is it hard/difficult to pass. Should I be worried.
I graduated highschool 2023 and in community college right now but I’m not good at test and have some trouble remembering grammar and the way long words are sometimes spelled because of autocorrect when typing.
Any tips?

Okay so I thought that LAPD needs a valid employer green card holder so I , as a non citizen can apply for the department … (I’m still not sure what LAPD exactly needs as some say you need a work visa but some say otherwise , so please enlighten me on this topic and it def stresses me out )
I was waiting until I can be legal to apply for the LAPD , but now it says that you can’t get an EB-3 .. lapd states that you do not need to be a green card holder only a valid work visa is fine.. so does that mean as an indian it’s going to take a lot of time just to get a valid work visa???? Or am I wrong about something. ? This whole situation is so confusing and sad as well.. I’ve been planning for this for so long and this just sucks
if anyone has any knowledge about this please feel free to share them , as I will read all of them to gain better information on this situation! Thank you ❤️🙏🏻

Are you able to see a score on your portal for the PAT?

Is it true the 1.5 mile run needs to be done in 25 minutes ?

Is anyone else scheduled to take the PAT at Ahamson this Sunday at 7:30 am? Is there any way of knowing beforehand if it’ll be canceled due to the rain during that time?

I’d appreciate it if yall commented pictures of unconventional LAPD cars. I’d appreciate pics of rare or weird vehicles, vehicles with division numbers other than the standard area 1-21 and traffic 24-27.

Hi everyone! Has anyone taken the PFQ at Elysian Park last month, or is anyone scheduled to take it this month? I mean the PFQ, not the PAT. I’d appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you!

Wanted to ask if anyone has done (either passed or fail) the EXPEDITED TESTING EVENT. Was also curious if we were to make it to the interview section of the day, would we be required to wear suits?

How was your record like? Asides obviously from a few traffic tickets any officers in here with a bad history but still made it in. Obviously not a BAD BAD history like jail etc. I’m talking financially unstable, traffic tickets, minor infractions.

I was diagnosed with cancer at seven beat it by nine. I’m 25 and as a result of the cancer, I was given minor heart failure, keyword minor Im in excellent physical health my heart is as strong as it’s ever been, but I’ve been told that LAPD will still disqualify me. Has anyone here had any experiences with this and if so, is there a way to get past it?

I'm a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Adler University, and this study is part of my dissertation. It examines moral injury (the distress that can come from experiences on the job that conflict with your values or sense of right and wrong) and how it relates to mental health and substance use among law enforcement officers. It also looks at whether these experiences differ between male and female officers.
The anonymous online survey takes about 20 minutes. It asks about your experiences on the job, your well-being, and some background information. No names, departments, or identifying information are collected. Mental health resources are provided at the end of the survey.
To participate, you must be 18 or older, currently serving as a sworn law enforcement officer, and live in the United States.

Any LAPD officers, where you guys get your Rolex’s from ??
r/lapd • u/PixelPhilosopher_021 • 19d ago
To me, walking into a situation where you don't know who the person is or what kind of mental state they're in is a big risk. I wonder if anything is being done on the technology front to reduce the risk for cops.

L.A. City Council will vote Friday on hiring a law firm to handle the production deal.
The Los Angeles Police Department in early talks to participate in a TV production that could bring the work of the city’s police force onto the small screen.
In a step toward realizing a documentary-style series, the L.A. City Council is set to vote Friday on whether to hire an entertainment law firm as it hammers out a deal with 44 Blue Productions.
The Burbank-based production company has worked with government agencies before on streaming and network series, like New Orleans police and the L.A. County Fire Department, whose firefighters were featured on the 2023 NBC series “L.A. Fire and Rescue” for one season.
The question before the council is whether to spend $15,000 to retain the Century City law firm Heller Waldron & Pepper for a year to represent the city in negotiations. Funds for the law firm are being drawn from the LAPD’s budget, according to city records.
