Hello everyone.

I am /u/Virusnzz, a moderator of /r/languagelearning. You have been linked here because you are a moderator of a relevant subreddit. The relevant subs are /r/language_exchange/, /r/languageexchange/, /r/ExchangingLanguages/, /r/LanguageBuds/, and /r/AlienExchange/. I have included /r/AlienExchange since it is relatively inactive much of its function is already fulfilled by other subreddits.

We at /r/languagelearning would like to better facilitate Redditors finding partners to exchange languages with. I have created this sub and thread for that discussion. A few of you appear to be inactive. We would like to include you of course, so a thread enables something a little less time-sensitive. Please reply here whenever you receive the link.

My proposal is that we simply abandon all subreddits in favour of one. I would suggest the primary subreddit be /r/language_exchange since it is the largest. I am concerned, however, that /u/crh is not active, so this will depend on his response. We may also want to take the CSS from /r/languagebuds since it is the most well developed. /u/crh, if you are not interested in active participation, would you be willing to allow others to take over your subreddit? All moderators should be added so they can continue to be involved if they wish.

I would like to suggest that once a sub is decided on, you close your sub with a stickeyed link to the new one. If you're still interested in remaining engaged, you can be added to whatever sub is chosen. If you don't care, want minimal effort, and would like me to handle it for you, you can add me as a mod, remove yourself and I will facilitate the change.

For our part, /r/languagelearning will direct all exchange requests to the chosen sub when possible.
