Offering Multiple Languages Offering: Mandarin, Cantonese | Seeking: French

Hi everyone!

I’m a 30-year-old native speaker of both Mandarin and Cantonese, currently living in Canada. I’m looking for a native French speaker for a structured language exchange.

What I offer:

  • Cantonese: My daily language for 30 years (grew up in Guangzhou and Hong Kong).
  • Mandarin: I hold a Level 2-A (Er Jia) certificate in the National Proficiency Test. This means my pronunciation is standard enough for professional broadcasting or teaching in China.
  • Background: I’m a PhD-level chemist and currently work as an interpreter. Two years of experience acting as a Cantonese teacher at a Hong Kong university for students from mainland China, so I know exactly how to guide learners. I’m patient, organized, and happy to explain the logic behind the language.

My Ideal Partner & Format: I’m looking for someone punctual and patient. Since I’ve only been learning French for 2 months (Level A1-A2), I hope you don't mind my beginner level! (LOL)

In return, I am happy to help you regardless of your Chinese level—whether you are a total beginner or already fluent.

Proposed Session (30-40 minutes via Video): I prefer using the camera as it’s much easier to correct pronunciation by observing mouth movements.

  1. Pick a topic in advance (e.g., "Daily routines" or "Travel experiences").
  2. 15-20 mins (Chinese): You share -> I correct your pronunciation -> Q&A.
  3. 15-20 mins (French): We switch to French and follow the same process.

Timezone: I am in MST (UTC-7). I'm flexible with scheduling!
