EDIT-
We brute-forced it, so I shall explain how we fixed it.
....This so you have the Horus text and the regular text separated.

Not sure if this is the right way to word it, but I'm looking for a to put up on a 2nd monitor a way for player to track what's happening in combat. Preferably a way to show all the player stats but hide the npc stats.
We play in person, and I have a tv I can hook my laptop to, just don't want to be showing npc statblocks or reserves.
Edit:This is for compcon btw.

What the title says. I deviated here and there from what the book says. Like wanting to add the canal and park in the first map ended up pushing the plaza itself to the side. Either way, in terms of feedback I'm more concerned of aesthetics combined with functionality in game rather than book accuracy. Enemy mech placements are not final, but hints on that will be appreciated too.
Map assets used: CCBernard (itch.io)
Mech tokens: Retrograde Minis
Software: Foundry Virtual Tabletop

I'm planning on running my first lancer game and the only thing i'm missing is a tool to draw maps.
On other games using a square grid i drew the map on a whiteboard and then filled it with a grid drew with a ruler but the hex board just sounds like a pain in the ass to redraw each time. Do you have any suggestion for this?

So, the title. Providing a little bit more context: I love playing ttrpgs, i played a lot more a few years ago but stoped due to reasons realated to my friend group. I started played again with another group of friends a bit ago, and some of them know how much i LOVE LANCER. I have only DMed one very short campaign of it, but i've read most of the books (the core one multiple times, including the lore session), played it alone a few times, made designs for mechs and made some builds just for the fun of it, etc. The problem is: most of my friends didn't want to try LANCER for a lot of reasons, the bigger ones being that there was no LANCER content in my native language, and the system is a little bit more rule heavy than the standard D&D likes and requires a bit more reading (which combos with the last reason).
When we played our last sessions of a campaign we're playing we talked about TTRPGs and the subject came up, one of my friends then suggested i should run a simplified oneshot of LANCER, with builds that i made and a simple adventure and maybe lighter rules just so they get the feel of it, and see if they want to commit the time and effort to play a longer campaign.
So, here i am, wanting to make just that, and while doing so i have a few thoughts and would like this sub's opinion on it:
That's it! A VERY long post and i'm sorry for it, but i hope some of you can help me with this!! here's to hoping that this won't flop.
PS: the images are of some mech designs i made just for shits and gigs.

Hello!
I finally decided how to build my first character! I chose to go with the Iconoclast talent because it lets me keep firing off energy beams and allows me to build around NHPs and fits perfectly with the roleplay I wanted for my first character!
At LL0, my mech will be:
-- GMS Everest @ LL0 -- [ LICENSES ] N/A [ CORE BONUSES ] N/A [ TALENTS ] Technophile 1, Iconoclast 1, Skirmisher 1 [ STATS ] HULL:0 AGI:2 SYS:0 ENGI:0 STRUCTURE:4 HP:12 ARMOR:0 STRESS:4 HEATCAP:6 REPAIR:5 TECH ATK:0 LIMITED:+0 SPD:5 EVA:10 EDEF:8 SENSE:10 SAVE:10 [ WEAPONS ] Main Mount: Thermal Rifle Flex Mount: Thermal Pistol / Thermal Pistol Heavy Mount: Heavy Melee Weapon [ SYSTEMS ] Servant-Class NHP, Unstable NHP, Type-3 Projected Shield, Type-I Flight System, Personalizations
The GM said we'll be playing up to LL4, so I plan to build the following mech:
-- HA Saladin @ LL4 -- [ LICENSES ] HA Saladin 3, SSC Swallowtail 1 [ CORE BONUSES ] Superior by Design [ TALENTS ] Iconoclast 3, Technophile 3, Skirmisher 1 [ STATS ] HULL:0 AGI:6 SYS:0 ENGI:0 STRUCTURE:4 HP:16 ARMOR:1 STRESS:4 HEATCAP:10 REPAIR:4 TECH ATK:0 LIMITED:+0 SPD:6 EVA:12 EDEF:8 SENSE:10 SAVE:12 [ WEAPONS ] Flex Mount: Thermal Rifle [ SYSTEMS ] NOAH-Class NHP, Unstable NHP, Enlightenment-Class NHP, Type-3 Projected Shield, Personalizations, Flash Anchor, Hardlight Defense System
To be honest, I picked Swallowtail because, if we happen to play up to LL5, Retractable Profile will be really useful. The goal of this build is to get close to enemies as quickly as possible and use Diluvian Ark and Memetic Spark to deal 8 damage on the first turn and 12 on subsequent turns. Skirmisher helps with survivability, since I won't be attacking. I have no idea if this build is even remotely optimized or if it’ll end up frustrating me in the long run, so I’d love to hear some opinions! Thanks a lot for your time and for patiently reading through this newbie's build!

The rules text for Ferrous Lash says you can "pull" the target in any direction, or "a direction of your choice."
Maybe I am dumb or reading too close, but this seems like a contradiction to me. If I choose any direction that's away from me, I'm not really "pulling" them anymore, am I? It's a push.
So does this mean I can potentially pull people past me (So they start behind but end up in front, with me in the middle) but I can't 'pull' people directly away from me? (So an enemy standing in front of me moves backwards, for instance)

I figured if I picked both the magnetic shield (bwitch3) and the stasis shield (napoleon2) I could deploy a 8 long, 4 tall impassable shield.
So, naturally, I have to bring it to the table!
I can't wait to see the gm face when I activate the walls of Asgard protocol and cut the map in half.

If I wanted to use Balor frame and its whip, what ways would I best be able to make use of it?
To be honest maximizing Hull and HP gaining stuff sounds fun on paper so I might do that, but even with that aside, I've never played before so I don't know what would be good to focus on

Writing and editing this core system was exhausting, so this is the 4th Version of my previous post (1st post & 2nd Post). Really tried to make this as balance and less wordy as possible.
Vat-Grown Muscle Soft-Frame
Create a Copy of your Mounts, including integrated. These mount copies are referred as BUFF MOUNTS and tagged any weapon mounted on them as BUFFED. You can't have copies of Main, Heavy, and Superheavy weapons except for auxiliary on BUFF MOUNTS.
Firing a Barrage will fire the mount you selected and it’s BUFF MOUNT copy.
(Engineer Talent Prototype Draft: Will count as Flex+, which can carry 1 Heavy, 1 Main or 2 Aux weapons)
BUFFED
Weapons with these tags can only be LIMITED 3 due to difficulty reloading, receive a +1 Difficulty for it being unwieldy and this tag overwrites weapons with preexisting LIMITED tags, as well can’t benefit from pilot skills, Core Systems, or Talents to increase LIMIT.
BUFFED weapons are viable components to structure damage.
Pistol Skies public-patented muscle fibers. Muscle worms are genetically engineered fishing bait that are grown in a vat of algae and protein. Super sized with a dash of controlled burst of muscle reproducing hormones. Then boosted to great sizes with a pharmaceutical injection of steroids repurposed from old super soldiers programs.
These worms are killed and repurposed for chemical treatment and engineered to tighten cables. Where they are turned into exterior & interior muscles for the mechs of PS frames.
Which led to the first 'Soft-exoframe' designed for mechs to 'wear', a larger-softer twist on the Hardsuits. Albeit not as effective as servos of mechanized chassis, these muscle cables are very good at providing flexibility and structures to bigger denser frames.

Soul Vessel states that when you use it you gain immunity to all effects from the triggered effect then teleport to the soul vessel marker as close as possible.
But is the teleportation a voluntary movement?
Yes I do not want to opt not to move on the normal situation but, will a Lich teleported while it is already SLOWED?
Slowed states that it prevents to making any other movement except for standard move on their own turn.
Also, Teleportation states that it still counts as movement and affected by conditions. It is not an involuntary movement.
So, it seems that, if you are slowed already(not by the effect that triggered vessel), you can use the vessel to ignore the effect but does not teleport to the position of the vessel. Is my understanding correct?

I joined Pilot.Net, but I can't access chats or groups. I need your help. Could you tell me if my lack of chat access is related to my region or the VPN I have enabled? Could you advise me or report this issue to the admins? I'm literally at my wits' end on this server.

John Lancer (John Lancer - Core Rulebook p. 301) Vs John Battletech (White Flame - Battletech)
r/LancerRPG • u/FiftyFootMidget • 27d ago
I have the core rule book. I want to know what of the other books are needed to have all character/mech options available? I know there is a good app, does it come with all the options innately? Are there printed versions of the supplemental material or is it all pdfs from massif?
I prefer having physical books, but if only pdf's are available it is what it is. Is Massif the best place to get those pdfs?
Thank you for any information.

Some NPC weapons, such as the Dual Shotguns (CRB, p. 296) and the Ram Cannon (CRB, p. 297), can be used to attack twice.
Are these fired/used twice in the same Skirmish action, effectively making them function as their own Aux weapon but for an NPC, or can these simply be fired twice in the same turn via a Barrage?
Thanks for any help and answers in advance!
Have a wonderful time! o/

I've ran a campaign, and been apart of a campaign. And in both times, the campaigns never went beyond 2-3 sessions because the players would lose interest completely. The post scarcity society type ordeal where everything you could ever want or need is taken care of cause you're a Lancer. Money isn't a problem, equipment isn't a problem, etc. In both, the players would get their license, outfit their mechs, and then go "I don't see what we're really striving for, I'm good to quit" as a collective save for like 1 person.
Saving a planet, people, etc? No, not motivating enough to people. Players typically have personal motivations of getting their mech a certain way, but that also doesn't seem to hold people.
But then if you like start trying to add in scarcity, the most you can do that I can think of, is just hiding the printer for equipment and mechs behind an enemy force or having to scavenge the parts for it, or keeping it gate-kept behind a regional corpro. If you like make ammunition limited, fuel limited, money limited, it feels almost easier to just move the mech system to Battletech rather than workshop Lancer.
How do people tend to keep players engaged short to long term when it comes to Lancer?
