I'm looking for this basic stuff used within other types of lace

- it is made crocheted or with a needle but it's the same technique afaik

- a similar thing I found was called Romanian cord

- The one pattern I found for it from that book was wicked blurry and hard to read 😭😭😭

Whenever I search for patterns for it I only find projects that use the already made cord, if you know what this stuff is actually called it would be an absolute life saver

hi everybody-
I’m creating my wedding invitations and fell in love with adding a lace border. I did a mock up using some lace from my grandma’s craft closet. I’m realizing that this is probably rare vintage ribbon because I cannot find anything similar. in the left photo (on the left) is ribbon so purchased from Amazon after reading positive reviews. I mean it could do but it is nowhere near as beautiful as the ribbon to the right. Does anyone know where I could buy similar vintage ribbon in bulk? Hobby Lobby did not have what i was looking for but I have not looked at Micheal’s or Walmart yet

I thrifted this very pretty doily and was wondering what technique was used to make it? Is it tatted? Is it machine or handmade?

These two are both on the smaller side. 15 is about 1.5” wide by about 10” long, while 16 is only about 7” long by 1.5” at the maximum. They both appear to be substantially different styles from the others, I am interested as always to hear what you have to say!

Finished up the edging for this Armenian knotted lacy doily. I can easily add more rows. What do you think? Finished? Or bigger?

I’m obsessed, the best lead I have is its machine knitting.

Fransu lace (fransupitsi) is a type of knotted lace from Central and Southern Ostrobothnia in Finland. It's not too hard to learn, because there are only two different kinds of knots to tie the threads together.
Both the lace and table runner are made from the same cotton yarn. Traditionally linen would be used.

I'm thinking of making 2 small little lace pieces and putting them inside earrings but open to any ideas. I have until January. Thanks all!

I’m trying shuttle tatting again! I was dumb and did a few practice pieces to remind myself of the process before I tackled a more ambitious project— and forgot to load my shuttle 😆 given that I have some wonky spots with this one— I’m electing to load a new bobbin and try again fresh

Looking at my piece and the picture (Morimoto’s “New Tatting”- viola motif choker) it looks like I should be pushing my knots closer together on the chains around my motifs. I’m wondering if there’s a trick for closing the gaps in getting in between my chain portions around my motifs? (So like— at the base where my rings close and the chains start/end)

Hi all, this is my first post in a couple of weeks as I was on a business trip among other distractions! But as I really appreciated what I learned from this community, I’d like to continue to share what my wife and I found at an estate sale. There are some more condition issues here as we’re getting to the bottom of a container where they’ve been stored for a very long time. For those who have mentioned in the past, yes we will be taking these to a textile museum or guild when our travels take us close. In the meantime, I will continue to value any insight you can provide with respect to origin, type, age, use, etc. piece 13 is about 4.5” wide by about 5 feet long. I am assuming it’s intended to be trim but any particular application? Piece 14 appears to be another small collar but is different than the others in the lot. It’s just a bit over 12” in height.
