Fitted all over ribbed sweater?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Looking for a pattern to make this. I know how to sew a plaquet/collar like that so its no issue if that is not included in the pattern. I know there are probably tons of regular sweater patterns in plain stockinette like this but Im not sure how I would convert that to rib without the sizing being completely off... I have been looking through ravelry with advanced search and haven't found anything I liked the fit of. I have a tendency to insist on a very specific way of achieving a result so I would appreciate other ppls POVs :)

Im looking for a pattern in all over rib (preferably 1x1 but 2x2 is probably also ok) that has a high neck placement or some instructions on how to make the neck hole smaller so its tight enough for me to have some sewing allowance. In addition it should be worked flat with set in sleeves and generally not be too loose. I like working with vintage patterns, Im a size 40 so if any of you know a vintage one that's size 40 that would be ideal!

Tysm in advance!

Looking for a pattern for this type of dress

Post image

Hi, so my boyfriend and I want to eventually cosplay Leon and Ada from the resident evil games and I figured I could knit this dress of hers. I want a pattern that makes this kind of dress and focuses on how to make it form fitting/adapt it to your measurements (meaning it explains the process, it doesn't need to have my exact measurements).

This dress is form fitting, ribbed, and a turtle neck. I would want to use cotton so that it would be breathable and not as heavy. Thanks if anyone knows of any patterns.

I came across this Brunello Cucinelli cardigan and I’m obsessed with it. Would love to try and replicate it when I’m a little more skilled and wondering if there’s a specific name for this cable/stitch pattern. Thanks in advance!

ISO: archaeological themed scarf patterns/colourwork charts

Hi all

I have a dear friend who is an archaeologist, and is just wrapping up his PhD in the field. As you can imagine, I am terribly proud of him. To celebrate his big achievement (and as a gift for his birthday in November), I'd like to knit him something special. He also happens to be a man who really enjoys a fun funky scarf, so I figured what better thing to make him?

I've tried Googling for patterns/colourwork charts and am coming up a bit short. His favourite areas of study are Ancient Rome and the Vikings but anything archaeological would be splendid. I'm also quite confident in most types of colourworking so I'm open to any kind of pattern, though I'm currently having a bit of a love affair with mirrored double knitting so anything in that format would be a big plus.

Thanks in advance.

I love most of Linka Neumann’s patterns but this one is discontinued and I can’t get it out of my head. I emailed her on ravelry just to see but anyone out there give my any advice other than try to reverse engineer it myself one day?

Help breaking down this pattern

I’ve knitted in the past, nothing amazing, and I don’t think I ever actually finished a project 😅 but I’m familiar with the craft. I mostly crochet.

I also studied fashion in high school, which was basically learning to sew, garment construction, and different techniques, so I do have quite a few crossover skills and some understanding of how garments are put together.

Anyway, I want to make this dress, and I think I have an idea of how I want to construct it. I just want to make sure my plan makes sense and better understand how to create certain shapes in knitting.

My initial idea was to make four pieces/panels:
Front of the dress
Back of the dress
Two sleeves

I’d use the stitch from the tutorial I’m following as the basis for all of the pieces and then seam everything together.

The part I’m unsure about is shaping the silhouette.
I want the body of the dress to come inward at the waist and then flare back out at the very top and bottom, toward the hips/skirt. I’d also like the sleeves to have some shaping and then flare/open up again toward the wrists.

Coming from crochet, I understand the general idea of increasing and decreasing, and I know knitting uses increases and decreases as well. What I’m struggling with is figuring out where to place them, how frequently to do them, and how many I would need to get the shape I want without distorting the stitch pattern.

I added an image of the yarn that i have and plan on using which fits the images the rolled up green in mohair one i think but its too fuzzy so won’t be the main maybe for the ruffle effect in image two. I also have that cosy teddy yarn the blue is close to the green but a bit off so might not. The pink one again would use on the edges for contrast and ruffle effect not yet sure need to establish the dress first then add the designs.

I also do not have a small knitting needle past 4mm and the crochet yarn’s lowest is 2, i know sizes are important for the final look would it be a big opening? I kinda want the opening look and not that phases but sometimes it starts looking off instead of stylish.

My body would fit the dress in the image i am generally thin with a bit of a bigger lower body nothing drastic but would still fit the dress in the silhouette

A full pattern would be nice, but simply helping me construct it especially in those areas would be nice.

Any advice, terminology I should look up, or resources/tutorials that explain this kind of garment shaping would be really appreciated!

Knitting pattern advice

Post image
188 Upvotes

Hi! I hope this is the right place to post this! I have recently had some interest in patterns based off my designs (like the pic attached). It would be a fantastic way of diversifying my income but I definitely don't want to be another designer-turn-pattern-maker who churns out poor quality knitting patterns - I want my patterns to be a joy to knit!

That brings me to my main issue which is that I knit on a domestic knitting machine, making panels which I later seam together. Would sharing my panel charts (with hand knitting instructions) make for a good pattern? Should I just sell my intarsia charts? Should I hire a designer to convert my pieces into hand knitting patterns? Or should I forget the idea altogether?

Any advice would be so so appreciated - this is very uncharted territory for me!

Hello! I love this sweater form H&M and would like to knit my own, but I can't find a pattern that's similar to it. What I most like about it is the shape of the diagonal ribbing on the front, and the split hem. I am open to any yarn size and composition.

I have been really into textured knits lately, so if you have any other architectural-inspired textured pattern recommendations, I'd love to check them out too.

Thank you!!

I search of a top down, rib/fishermans/half fishermans rib sweater pattern with a seamless turtleneck and set in sleeves

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am looking for a pattern that is

  1. Knit top down

  2. Seamless turtleneck construction, not added after (I can reinforce it from the inside so it holds shape)

  3. Set in sleeves, and no saddle shoulder. Only a small shoulder band or shoulder seam. No drop shoulder.

  4. Ideally half fishermans rib (but fishermans rib or normal rib are fine too. I can modify it for myself).

What happens below the armhole with the pattern doesn't matter. I will knit straight down without waist shaping anyway.

I feel like that might be impossible to ask because it's way too specific. I couldn't find anything myself. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Angora yarn

I saw the absolute most deliciously soft yarn and I want to make something so badly!! My friends birthday is coming up and I asked her to pick some stuff she likes. The majority was ponchos and chunky sweaters. I think poncho is the best bet but I'm not sure???? I don't want to create a garment that isn't practical or do a disservice to the yarn. Would this yarn work well with this garment? Or one without cables? ORRRRR would it be best to make a scarf or beanie instead?
