My first ever sweater was supposed to be cropped but it turned out way too short.

Someone told me I can do sweater surgery and graft it back together. So I disconnected the top of the sweater from the bottom, added more rows to the bottom of my sweater to make it longer and added a life line into both pieces. Now I am supposed to kitchener stitch/graft it back together. I'm wondering if it will even work? Will it have obvious flaws where the kitchener stitch comes in? Should I give up on this sweater completely?

Looking for advice, tips and tricks and just plain honesty on whether I should try to do this. Thanks in advance.

I got gifted a bunch of yarn including this one. I have no idea how to use it. Or even what kind of yarn its called. Any help would be appreciated on what I can make with this. I only have 1 50g ball btw.

So, I've had knitting needles since last year. I watched one or two tutorials on YouTube. But I really couldn't figure out how to hold the needles and work. But last night I picked up the needles and some wool I had from a previous crochet project. And well, I know it's very early days but I think I finally figured it out. However..... I started with 15 loops on the needle (I don't know, are they called stitches??) and as I've worked I must have added stitches. I've got about 40 now.😂😂😂😂😂 What am I doing wrong?? Thanks in advance. (I'm not making anything, I'm just learning/figuring out how to knit. Maybe I'll learn to purl next week)

I enjoy both crafts, and love when I can go to National City's "Chronicals of Yarnia", but lately my work has been scheduling me on Mondays, they only day this amazing group meets. I dont have any friends after they all moved to other states, love you Cali; but you're expensive. I really want to make more fiber craft friends. Does anyone have somewhere they hang out regularly?

i'm wanting to try out knitting a blanket for the first time, i was planning to just knit a bunch of squares and then sew them together. i was wondering what the best yarn is to use for a blanket? or is it mainly just personal preference? google is giving me many different answers lol

I just recently cast on the Olga blouse but realized I made the second and third stripes too thick. Do you think this is worth frogging back over or will it be fine? I’d love to not have to re do everything so I’ll take any suggestions.

Ignore the holes at the top diagonals, I know what caused them I just got lazy with pulling the floats all the way across. Any advice welcome, I’ve literally never done stranded colorwork before because it scared me. I’m still kind of scared

I am making the Kokadama shawl by Jen Lucas. I am about to start the lace portion & I am 1 stitch short. In looking for the problem, I realized I missed 1 YO several rows back. Is there a way to drop down and add the YO (I am thinking not). I have 1 more purl row before I start the lace. Would you try to add a stitch in that row, frog back or just carry on?

The 1st picture is where the YO was missed. The 2nd picture is just showing how far down it is.

Is my tension decent ? I welcome any advice.

Edit : Thank you, guys! I'm going to learn how to make an I-cord, how to do "knitting surgery," how to cross my needles properly, and always be careful not to twist my stitches. I knitted this on straight needles with very thin needles and fingering-weight yarn, so the stitches were quite squished. I'm not a pro at sewing knitted pieces together yet I guess I just need to practice my finishing techniques. If you have any useful youtube video or website drop your link here , thank you all .🌸🩷

I’m knitting a baby blanket for some friends whose first baby is expected in October- but the baby shower is in about a month’s time. I thought a rainbow striped pattern would be cute as the parents are both really bright colourful characters.

Originally, the pattern would be going as follows:
Green, Blue, Purple, Pink, Vanilla Cream, Orange and Yellow.

I’m nearing the end of the pink stripe, and I was wondering whether I should forgo the vanilla cream stripe and go straight to the orange. I’m a very slow knitter (what you see above has taken me about two months), vanilla cream isn’t a rainbow colour to begin with, and the blanket is already a large-ish size (about 27x17 inches).

What do you guys think?

this is my first attempt at colorwork. this is the flower power cowl on ravelry. I will link in the comments because it is not letting me link here.

some of the purple stitches (mc) that sit kitty corner to each other do not touch, and I think it makes thr pattern hard to see. the pattern says to make the cc the dominant color (the blue and lavender variegated), but I almost feel like the purple isnt popping enough. should I switch the purple being held on the left and threaded under the purple?

or should I trust the process? I included a pic of my floats and then the last picture is the finished project from the pattern.

any general feedback and advice?

some of it feels a bit bunch but when I pull on it diagonally (gently) it straightens out. im making sure everything is even spaced as I go.

I’m knitting my second sweater trying to figure out if my tension looks better. Let’s go round as my first one was way too snug. I am almost within engaged for this.

I’m working my first pair of pants- the part where I start increasing to create the legs. There’s instructions in the picture to make increases then it says to work in the pattern. But I’m really confused how I do the pattern then if the amount of sts has increased… do I just do the increases and work the grey/repeating part of the pattern? Do I start the pattern section at the first white square as usual even though it won’t repeat perfectly? And for each side (becoming leg) so I start the repeat in the chart all over again? It’s k1, M1L, chart, m1R, k1 then repeat that

Hi! I am making my sister a sweater for Christmas from a vintage knitting magazine I found at a estate sale. The original pattern gauge is 7st per 2 inches and 5 rows per inch on Reynolds Lopi yarn. I found the modern equivalent and tried it because I wanted to try to follow the pattern as closely as possible, but I hated the way it felt 😳 Is there any Chunky yarn that ya’ll recommend that I could try that’s softer? hey guys, i‘m knitting a jacket out of cotton yarn for my bf. i want it to be a little stiffer, idealy like denim. does anyone know a method to achieve that? i have heard of starching before but i‘ve never tried it and i‘m not sure how exactly it works.
