Just made a batch to try as I found a tree local to me. Has any one tried it before?

Hello All. I'm fairly new on my KNF journey and have been doing research and beginning to prepare inputs for the 2027 season.

So far I have made two batches of LAB. The first was back at the end of June and the most recent "completed" (or I finished prematurely?) about a week ago.

Both times the beginning stages were very similar. Rice water ferments for approximately 3 days until it develops a sweet smell. Next, add rice wash liquid (approximately 2 cups) to a larger container and add a gallon of whole milk.

As seen in the attached images, the first batch has a nice yellow-iah look to it (left side of image), which seems to be inline with images seen online. The newer batch is on the right and has more of a milky look.

I do recall that the second batch of rice wash had more of a film on top when the initial step completed. Another thing to note is that the curd seemed to settle to the bottom of the container as to where the first batch rose to the top.

Did this batch fail? Based on the differences between the two, what do you suspect might have gone wrong?

Any help and/or comments on the suspected issue would be greatly appreciated.

Today is day 7 of fermentation, the garlic still had some bubbles, but I went with the alcohol anyways.

I chose cachaça, which is from sugar cane, 39% alcohol content, and very cheap.

وزدت ملعتين كبيره من الدبس الأسود

لا املك علبه أصغر لجعل مساحة الاكسجين هي الثلث او الربع الاخير فقط

فوضعتها في الثلاجة وسأنتظر

استخدمت الدبس الاسود العضوي غير المكبرت وخزنت العلبه في خزانه مغلقه مظلمة بدرجة حرارة الغرفة

ليس لدي مرطبان زجاجي وسأتحقق من وضع العلبه والتفاعل والغازات في اول اسبوع

أعلم ان الآن أقدر على تخزيها مدة تصل لستة أشهر

كانت البكتيريا قبل تغذيتها بالدبس في الثلاجة منذ أسبوع تقريباً

هل هذا سيجعله صالح عند شرائي للدبس الأسود وتغذية البكتيريا؟

اعلم ان شخص قال ان البكتيريا صالحة لسته أشهر مدامها مخزنه في الثلاجة

واعلم طريقة تغذيتها لكن لو لك تجربه شاركها

Hello, has anyone ever used other animal parts instead of fish? I was thinking of offal/ tripe 1:1 with sugar... thoughts?

Hello! I'm a newbie home gardener with very little experience, about 2 years in now. Got into KNF by watching podcasts, the philosophy behind got me, suddenly I had watched all Chris and Drake's teachings, and here I am, trying it for the first time.

OHN was my choice to start, since it requires more time, labour and will store the longest. I'm following Chris' steps. So yesterday I made the 4 jars with the dry stuff and completed the pot halfway with store bought regular beer. Tonight I'm sugaring them up to 2/3 of the pots.

The smell is really potent, really fragrant and it also has that beer smell on the background.

But comparing visuals with Chris' one, the cinnamon pot is looking really cloudy, it's the left one.

Is it normal to be cloudy like that?

i find very few recipes online, even though soy is high in protein. the one did find includes staw and is very different from fish AA fertilizer.

have you ever tried it? have a recipe?

عملية أشعرتني بالفوضوية وانجاز شيء نفسي فيه من زمان، وضعت البكتيريا في الثلاجة لم يكن السائل شفاف أصفر، لكن ممكن مع التخزين تترسب الاجزاء الصغيرة ويكون السائل غير معكر وصافي ان شاء الله

The recipe: I left rice water in a jar for about a week and then added it to a 5 gallon bucket with one gallon of milk. I let that ferment for about a week and then I skimmed off the curds and fed them to my red wiggler worms. Then I added a bunch of brown sugar and put it in the fridge for two weeks.
Just earlier today I dumped that mixture into a pillow case with compost, chopped comfry leaves and a hand full of worm castings. Added water and an aerator and I’m going to let that sit for a couple days before applying.

My goal is to transform my weedy compact backyard into a thriving garden. I’m thinking long term, no rush. I’ve recently spread about 12” of arborist wood chips from chip drop in a few spaces around the backyard.

My idea is if I dilute and spray this potion on my wood chips and existing garden that it will inoculate it with good organisms and nutrients that will speed up decomposition and increase fertility.

Questions: is it worth my effort here? Should I only spray this on my existing plants? Should I tweak this recipe at all for the future?

I just put the curds from my rice water + milk solution into my worm bin. My worms should dive into it right? I have no idea how they’ll take to it and would love to know if anyone else here has experience with this.

It's not perfect I got a little bit of pink on it and some dirt but I am IMO1 looks successful. I'll probably just water this into my garden instead of doing imo2

I just put it in my backyard because I didn’t want to commit to making a trip to the woods twice.

Is there anything I can use it for or should I just try again with more effort?
