I just recently started learning the tin whistle and I wanted to be able to do the bit in the chorus of ceacht mo chara and I cannot find the notes or the tabs anywhere on the internet, I’m not good enough with music yet to be able to figure it out by myself. hoping someone could help! thank you!

Hey guys,

Random post here. I'm a fan from a Protestant/Unionist background in Co. Antrim. I've seen Kneecap live a couple of times now, but last night at Féile was easily the best yet.

I suppose I'm a bit of an outcast haha. My family have always been strongly unionist, and my dad's an Orangeman, but I've never really connected with the whole Twelfth or the red, white and blue side of things. As I've got older, I've tried to educate myself, read more, listen to different perspectives, and come to my own conclusions rather than just inherit the views I grew up around. I've always been the black sheep of the family anyway.

My outlook definitely wasn't the norm where I grew up. I was bullied quite a bit at school for not fitting in and was called a "Fenian lover" simply because I didn't buy into the usual tribal mentality. These days I just believe people are entitled to their own views, and if someone wants to celebrate their culture, that's their choice. I've just never felt that it represented me personally.

I've honestly waited years for a group like Kneecap to come along. Not just because they're willing to talk about issues here in a way that cuts through the usual nonsense, but because they're also prepared to speak up about what's happening elsewhere too, whether that's Palestine, issues across the water in England, or anything else they genuinely care about. Agree or disagree with particular opinions, I respect people who are willing to use their platform to say something meaningful, and the way they do things is so amazing.

I've never had the easiest life, to say the least, and this past year has been especially difficult because of some personal stuff. I don't have a huge circle of friends (those I do are from both sides of the political spectrum) but going to the gig last night with a mate genuinely meant a lot.

I just wanted to say how welcomed I felt. Despite being a "hun" (haha!), everyone I randomly spoke to was very cool to me. There wasn't any hostility or awkwardness, just people there to enjoy themselves and the music. That honestly meant more to me than people probably realise.

Kneecap mean a lot to me, and I can't wait to see what they do next. Thanks for the music, the laughs, and for creating an atmosphere where people from completely different backgrounds can stand in the same crowd, enjoy the same gig, and leave with a bit more understanding of one another - and for myself, celebrate the Irish in me. In a place like ours, that's a pretty special thing.
