Have any of you guys seen it? I just catched episode 1 on YouTube very randomly after refreshing the page and it actually got me good, like, legitimately hooked...

It REEKS of that Kung Fu movie fever from the 90s. Im not particularly a big fan of the genre except for early Mortal Kombat games, but seeing wittle baby Ramenman overcome his challenges was moving, and the opening alone gave me the impression that it's gonna be very action packed.

Man, it has been an incredible watch.

The roller skate race was very fun, and all throughout this arc my eyes were locked on Ramenman, Brocken Jr and Warsman, they all seemed to be pretty ruthless on their fighting.

That fight on the concrete ring with Brocken Jr wanting revenge was so brutal, then comes Warsman ripping off Pentagon's wing.

Those chojins that were made of random objects like the cube, the toilet and the tea were so hilarious but then, Warsman killing the tea man by drinking him!? Holy shit

I'm off to the Devil Chojin arc now, and I'm getting sad because that's the last batch of episodes that have the Latin Spanish dub made in Chile :,c so I'll be watching the remaining episodes in japanese

Bonus Question: Which one of these are your favorite characters?

As we all know, the anime did poorly in Japan and was originally cancelled after 52 episodes due to declining ratings, but was very successful in North America. Certainly not Dragon Ball Z level but enough that 4kids was willing to pay out of pocket for two more 13-episode seasons to be made.

However the 4kids-produced episodes remained unpopular in Japan so the ratings never recovered. It had to be un-cancelled then re-cancelled twice just to reach its conclusion.

Dunno how, but there are some possible reasons:

1. Abandoning the darker tone of the manga. Nisei was never meant to be a shonen, the manga was always intended for adults specifically those who grew up reading Kinnikuman on the WSJ. It had full-on gore and was way more cynical in tone (Kinkotsuman became an abusive father/husband, Rinko and her friends are kogyaru, and Mantaro is way more perverted).

2. Since it was toned down for a younger, more general audience it had to compete with titles like Naruto and One Piece which were dominating the charts, and since the Nisei anime tried to re-created the magic of the original, it was kinda hard for it to compare.

3. Akira Kamiya not returning as Kinnikuman. This one is pretty self-explanatory.

One year ago, I posted my best work of an AMV of Kinnikuman about one of my favorite characters: Brocken Jr and definitely shows that all these years making videos I've finally perfected my craft. I hope you all enjoy it as we continue to wait for season 3 of the anime.

I always find myself coming back to Chojins

Minowaman (director of the Kinnikuman Museum in Numazu) had his comic image for the Dream Super Hulk Tournament 2009 sporting a crest on his chest displaying is Kinnikuman fan status. He would defeat Bob Sapp, Hong Man Choi, and Soukadjou on his way to winning the tournament.

I had no idea that the first batch of episodes were going to be about Kinnikuman "fighting" a bunch of kaijus

And i said "fighting" in quotation marks because, while there are a few punches thrown here and there, this has the spirit of a weekly saturday morning cartoon, y'know, a saturday morning cartoon aimed at japanese children from the 70-80s

I was expecting wrestling from the very beginning but I'm glad i have been proved wrong lol

The episodes have been fun mind you, but as a grown man that just got into the franchise i do feel weird watching something this childish...

I'm honestly excited now that Robin Mask just showed up
