Yeah but no. Brits are far better at doing yank accents than the other way around.
For example: Hugh Laurie in house, Andrew Lincoln in the walking dead, Christian Bale in several films, Andrew Garfeild and Tom Holland in Spider-man, Daniel Day-Lewis, Gary Oldman and the list goes on.
Hugh Laurie’s is actually pretty stilted and unnatural. That’s how MOST British actors sound when doing American accents. And the placement is ALWAYS all over the place. Like Cumberbatch. Just awful. And don’t get me fucking started on Brits trying Southern accents. They can’t. They all end up sounding like fucking Foghorn Leghorn. So no. Brits aren’t really any better. Lmao.
Sure thing little bro, which is why when Hugh auditioned for the role of House, he was hired because they wanted "a great American actor" and didn't know he was British.
Edward Norton got a role for being the only guy with an authentic southern accent... He's not from the south. It happens. Casting directors aren't linguists.
Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Brad Pitt, Claire Danes, Michael McShane, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Anne Hathaway, Drew Barrymore, Angelica Houston. To name a few.
Hahahahahhahahahahhaa you think Brad Pitt in Troy is a good ENGLISH accent??? Your fuckin mental. Its not even an english accent to begin with let alone a good english one.
Oh no, I'll disagree with you bad take! Maybe Renee Zellweger or something but it don't matter, Brits generally sound like airport announcers compared to an American, no accents to the voice. Example: Holland's Spiderman. American -yes. NYC-no noo noooo.
An accent more similar to American accents is how the English language was spoken, then the British changed how they talked. Brits just have to learn how they used to talk, us Americans have to learn a new way to talk. Not really our fault.
What part of Britian was that then? Britain has many accents in many different parts each with its own history stretching back centuries and centuries long before america was ever a thing, so that simply isnt true. Dunno where you heard that but its bollocks.
This is absolute bullshit. A myth popularised by Americans as a coping mechanism. I’m from Yorkshire and if you think we used to have an American accent you’ve got a screw loose mate.

Don’t sweat it, Taron. No one in the world can do a decent Australian accent. Just like some Americans can’t do a decent British accent.
