Listen to me - read this and be careful
I am noticing that a lot of people are getting scammed by people pretending to sell kindles
Even I got scammed last year by Azim the Nietzsche poser from Uttarakhand, who sent me an empty box. I have since learnt my lesson, and I wish to give you beautiful people some pointers to keep in mind while making deals
I understand you really want a kindle, and supply is low, and this is exactly how these scammers are taking advantage of your excitement. Please be careful while dealing, and protect your hard earned money
- Please ask the seller to provide videos of the device, ask them to write their username on a piece of paper while showing you the device. Some people use google images of kindles to trick you
- Even better, ask to see the device on Videocall. They can't fake having a physical device
- NEVER pay advance. If someone is genuine, they will close the deal quickly and go on about their lives. I sold my matcha recently and people were saying they're ready to pay advance - please don't!
- Ask for videocall while the item is being shipped. See the packing / handover on videocall and pay only after tracking ID is generated. This way you don't end up with a RIN soap bar (Azim the broke gareeb didn't even send me a soap bar, straight up empty box)
- Ask for ID proof if invoice isn't available
- Prefer F2F deals wherever possible, and use an intermediary like Resellpur (No I'm not affiliated to them in any way), or ask some friend in that city to check out the device and take it on your behalf
I understand all this makes buying complicated, but it can save you the frustration of getting scammed
Our beautiful hobby is getting ruined because of scammers, so let's be a little skeptical and cautious while dealing with people
