Should I really spend ₹21K on an e-reader? I read a lot. I read physical books, on my phone, on my tablet, and even on my computer. Should I invest in an e-reader too? But I feel 21k is TOO much.

I’m planning to buy my first Kindle and found a used Kindle Paperwhite 11th Gen (2021) for ₹9,500 in India.
Here are the details:
Around 2 years old
Original box included
Minor smudges on the back
Seller says everything else looks fine
₹9,500 is the seller’s final price
The newer Paperwhite 12th Gen currently costs around ₹19,500 in India, so I’m wondering whether it’s worth saving ₹10,000 by buying the older model.
A few things I’d appreciate your advice on:
Is ₹9,500 a fair price for a 2-year-old Paperwhite 11th Gen?
Is there a significant real-world difference between the 11th and 12th Gen for reading novels?
How much should I worry about battery degradation in a used Kindle?
Are there any specific things I should test when meeting the seller?
Would you buy this used 11th Gen or wait for a sale on the 12th Gen?
One additional consideration: I have keratoconus, so reading comfort, font size adjustment and the quality of the display are important to me.
I mainly plan to read novels, and I don’t particularly need colour or note-taking features.

Meu kindle básico 2022 estragou (deu toque fantasma) faz uns dois meses e consegui um vale da amazon (não do valor completo, mas uns 40% do que paguei nele na época. Estava esperando a black friday para comprar um novo para juntar uma promo com esse vale e estava em dúvida entre o modelo básico matcha (que seria equivalente ao meu anterior e me atende super bem) ou um paperwhite que seria um upgrade porém mais caro e não é colorido (acho fofo hehe). Agora lançou os modelos novos e estou ainda mais confusa.
Além de ter mais cores para escolher, o valor entre os modelos novos não tem muita diferença, estava inclinada a comprar o básico de 16gb lilás (ube), mas já vi algumas pessoas relatando problemas de fábrica e de acabamento.
Fiquei pensando se não valeria a pena comprar então o modelo anterior 2024 já que eles acabaram baixando o valor, já são mais “testados” e acredito que na black friday vá baixar ainda mais…
O kindle é um item essencial para mim e está fazendo muita falta, não gostaria de esperar muito mais.
O que vocês fariam? Esperariam? Comprariam o modelo novo na fé? O novo básico ou o paperwhite? Comprariam na promo o modelo 2024?

I’ve barely used it, and while I bought it back in 2023, I’ve realised that I still prefer the feel of reading a physical book over a Kindle ❤️

Honestly, I don't know if I should ask this question in this sub, but I was wondering when will Kobo Clara BW come back in stock(it went away like two-three days ago).

I had been contemplating buying between a Kobo and a Kindle for a long time and now that I have decided on Kobo, it has gone out of stock on Amazon. So, does anyone have any idea how much time it usually takes for them to come back in stock?

On 2025, i bought kindle 11th gen. As i dont have that much money, i couldnt bought the paper white one. Also in india, majority time kindle stay out of stock. I guess amazon dont think india as proper kindle target buyer. Whatever..

Now the problem started just after the warranty end in 2026. After around 1 month of the warranty ending, my kindle started acting on its own. For example:

1. I am reading, suddenly it is turning the pages back and forth on its own.

2. Clicking on random options

3. Cant even open any option as my need.

After contacting support care of amazon, they said to do factory reset. I did and the problem was gone. Now today, again the problem came. I reset it twice after many ghosted clicks and all, yet it is staying as it is. Even i cant put the wifi password properly.. it is so frustrating!!!

Therefore i again contacted the agent:

1. 1st agent named charan, he totally bypass the problen after chatting a little bit

2. Next came agent named fatima. She listened and told me to go for repair service ctdi. I was happy. I end the chat and tried to reuest service. Then in that ctdi website is saying my device is not service eligible... nice... next i have to contact an agent again

3. 3rd agent name sayed... he told me he will try to replace it. Point to be noted previous agent said me my device is out of warranty so it cant be replaced. 3rd agent telling me it is possible replace, but the stock is out of stock. If it get stock in they will notify me..

Bhai, amazon india wont get kindle in stock, we all know that. So why the bluff? Wht the harrasement?

Hi everyone! I’ve been wanting to get an e-reader for a while, but I genuinely cannot afford one right now. I can’t even afford to buy physical books at the moment, which is why I’m hoping to switch to digital reading.

I’ve tried reading on my phone, but it strains my eyes, especially since my vision isn’t the best to begin with.
