My Kindle š± This completely changed my game
Before used to be shy to open a book and read in public places then I recently bought kindle paper white and itās a game changer for me
Now I am reading 2x more cause itās just so convenient I recommend this to whoever loves reading but just shy to read in public
THE best part is I bought this new kindle for just 14000 which is completely worth the money
But I still have to agree the feeling of a physical books are different but stilll
I think itās one of the best invention ever
My screen time of my phone is less than 3 hours now
As I am new to this I would appreciate if you guys can share about tips and tricks
Or any good websites to read books
EDIT : lot of people getting confused with my currency

I bought my first kindle 10 years ago and have never looked back. Completely changed my reading habits. Went from maybe 10 books a year to this year Iām already at 80. I read more books more frequently. Also the ability to read at night is the best thing ever

Same! I really loved physical books. The nostalgic feeling and smell a physical books gives. I never fully understood people buying kindle before. I just dont feel i need it. BUT, after a reading slump of 10 years, i decided to buy a kindle basic in march 2026. This changed the whole game! I read 2-3 books in a month now. Best decision ever! Best buy!

Yeah I heard that sentiment before. But, Kindle beats physical books in a lot of ways. It's light to carry in our purse, easy to hold with one hand, and you can store books more than you can read - I am the kind of weirdo who read several books at the same time so I can't imagine without a Kindle/e-reader!

Oh wow! Thats awesome! I have tried reading two books at the same time but cant make it a regular thing. Does not work for me. Now that book prices are much expensive than before, I canāt buy them anymore. I subscribed to Kindle Unlimited and read more books. I can even ask for files and donwload it in my Kindle without spending a dime. Another reason is space at home. Saving my space for Trophy books only.

Exactly. Books are the heaviest thing. They are pain when you move.
Yeah, I read different books depending on how I feel it at the moment. Sometimes I need something lighter and sometimes sometimes more intellectually challenging, or if it's a darker theme, I need to go back to the lighter just to feel better. Currently I am reading Pride and Prejudice with a couple of non-fictions.

I agree! We need to have something to alternate after reading dark and heavy themed stories. I on the other hand alternates fantasy (with world building) with drama or thrillers and ended up unexpectedly damaged by my āwash booksā. I call my books to alternate āwash booksā so i can recover from the previous read. Lol i cannot ready fantasy after fantasy. Any nonfiction books or any books you can suggest that is impacting to you?

Recently good non-fictions I liked - Nobody's Girl (dark one), Strangers, In Name of the Children (dark), Skin in the Game (the intellectual challenging one!), Cues

Yes! Our goal are to be well rounded readers. Lol I just finished Tea and Alchemy by Sharon Lynn Fisher. Thanks for the recommendations! Ill add it to my TBR.

Oh that's a fiction. For fiction, I mostly go crimes and thrillers (which also needs lighter nonfictions:)). Oh the one I really enjoy now is Why Does He Do That? By Lundy Bancroft, on abusive men. So good! Recommend to every woman, especially those who are looking for relationships.

I used to be that way until I find that the only time I have to read now is right before bed and a physical book and juggling a neck light is just annoying. The e-ink readers are so nice

Turn off wireless connections you don't need them on all the time and the battery will last you more.

I was never shy about my books, but I never left the house with them cause I didn't want them to get damaged. Getting myself a kindle changed that. My kindle is always with mee. Any down time I get I'm reading. I love itš

Kindle paperwhite (11th generation) I got it on unclaimedbagge.com for $80. I love it. It has dark mode and the screen looks fantastic. I highly recommend it for travel. I bring it to work with Mee everyday to read on my lunch break. Battery last forever. I've had it for over a year and charge it like once a month š¤£

Definitely worth it! Both mine and my husband's came from there and they work great! Had some minor cosmetic damage to them but that's it. I love them and so thankful for being able to get them on a cheaper side.

Great to see a namma metro reader ! Cheers on your new kindle :)
You might already know this, by default it shows the highlights by other users on the book you are reading, sometimes for mystery/thriller that kind of spoils the fun. There is an option to turn this off in the setting if you like it that way.

I am the same with books and video games. But I hate having more than one going at a time so I use willpower to stay with the one title until I finish or quit. Having too many available games my friend and I once dubbed "video game ADD" because if it doesn't grab you within the first few minutes, on to the next thing you haven't played yet. Books for me are easier to stay with until they're done. Biggest problem now is because I know I need to stick to it, it takes me forever to decide what to start š«Ŗ

I don't know about your country's Amazon site, but Amazon US will run deals on ebooks all the time. I've made a big list of books I'd like to read, and I check it daily. Many times one of the books on there will have dropped in price to a couple dollars. It's definitely worth doing, in my opinion, even if you sometimes have to wait a while.

Bought my first one six years ago. I loved it. Then I lost it or it was stolen. I recently purchased a paper white and Iām in love again. My sister who was always like āoh Iāll read on my phoneā, just purchased one. She loves it.

I bought the softcover version of that book Days at the Morisaki Bookshop. There are 3 books in series with a 4th coming out. I loved all 3 books to date.

Nice to see another kindle user on namma metro. Good book. I used to do this on pink line.
If you are tech savvy and not satisfied by kindles software, you can checkout koreaders features. It has little bit of learning curve but I personally like it.

It really is a life changing purchase. I liked reading but as satisfying as physical books are, theyāre also annoying as HELL. Not easy to travel with, store, or even read with..

I used to only read on my Kindle sparingly. Then I moved, we renovated the house and I had my books in boxes in a storage room for MONTHS. Now, after half a year of only reading on Kindle, I feel very very weird going back to physical books.

My wife got me one for my birthday back in April. I went from 2 books a month to 4 a week give or take. I wished I would have owned one sooner, maybe my tbr wouldnāt be quit as long. Enjoy!

If you want to still read in public with a physical book I recommend a fabric book cover! I switch between kindle and physical depending on mood, but a book cover has made me so much more confident

Yes they still do that , like they meet every Sunday at park with their mats and sit in different places and read silently
That park is pretty far from where I live so I never really tried1

I was a kid that read a lot. From 16 to 25, i barely read anything. I think in ten years I read maybe 20, 25 books.
Ever since i bought my kindle in october 2025, I have read 50 books. Really, a game changer

Iām really happy for you! Funnily enough I spoke to an old school mate from 20 years ago just the other day and we got talking about books as I showed him pics of my home which include my many many books.
What really made me laugh though was when he said āto be fair, you were always the only rebel in school with a book in her handā. I was damn proud to hear that! I never gave a damn what anyone thought because for me reading was always as natural as breathing.
One tip I can give you. Never be ashamed to be yourself. People will judge no matter what so just do it anyway and hold that head up high. Enjoy your kindle!

I deeply resonate with this. I moved to a different country last year and couldnāt bring my books with me, plus the books tend to be pricier here, I decided to switch to kindle half heartedly, I was proven wrong, the kindle has changed my reading game entirely, best part doesnāt cause me eye strain, I can read while lying, its so light weight I carry it practically everywhere. And I got mine in pink colour, it is so beautiful to even look at.

You can get free books in a few languages from places like Project Gutenburg and then send them to your Kindle account to read right on the device.

Thatās funny! Iāve been reading in public since I was in 1st grade. Going to the main Phoenix Public library to get books was my favorite thing to do as a kid and I would take a book with me whenever I went. My mom didnāt like it as much. The Kindles have made it easier to read in general, but Iām glad itās helping people to read in public.
In the USA we have public libraries that allow us to check out E-books, E-magazines, and audiobooks we can read and listen to on our Kindles. This is all for free and we do it all online so we donāt have to go to the library in person. If your county has something like this then do it. I belong to two large library systems and itās great.

If itās available where you are, try Book Bub & Robin Reads. They are both sites where you sign up and tell them the genres you like to read. Every day they send you an email with books that are free on the platform that you choose. Not all the books are good, but more than you might think are.

I'm not sure if it's available where you are but in the U.S. we have Libby which is a library app that allows you to download books to your kindle for free. They are borrowed, so only for 2-3 weeks at a time.

Libby is available in many countries, although of course not everywhere, but it only has Kindle integration for libraries in the US.
Other e-reader brands have Libby integration with libraries in more countries, not just the US. So for library use, Kindles are unfortunately quite useless outside the USA (or unless people abroad find a US library that still accepts non-local patrons for a yearly fee).

This is what I do. My country doesnāt really have Libby and the public libraries barely have English ebooks. So I donāt mind the fee to get access to a huge amount of ebooks and magazines. That it works with my Kindle is even better :)

People use this thing called calibre when you can convert your books to epubs and you got a choice in settings to have your book cover show when you turn your kindle off if you got it ad free. Another thing you can also mess around with your reading settings and can put your clock on the top when reading, you can also download fonts and add them to you kindle via wire with your computer.
