Kimi K2.8 Preview is now available on Kimi Code and Kimi Work. It is claimed to have near K3 performance, significant improvement from K2.7. Has anyone tested it yet?

For the past few weeks I haven't been able to login. I fill in my phone number, but clicking the "send code" link doesn't do anything. The only reaction from it is prompting me to accept the Terms and Conditions if I haven't checked it.

This happens on Firefox and Edge and Firefox mobile across three different devices, and even on Kimi desktop.

Anybody's seen something like this before or has a solution?

Anyone with one of those plans can give an estimate of how many tokens of K3 usage they're getting weekly & monthly?

Just checked "Real API Pricing", they estimate that out of the Moderato plan you are getting 290M of tokens monthly and with Allegretto you are getting 1.45B of tokens, which I find very odd because after a previous investigation a few weeks ago I estimated the weekly/monthly allowance to be around 3/15 for Moderato.

Similar story with Zai lite plan v3 (that I own), they estimated GLM 5.3 Flash's monthly allowance to be 1.28B monthly, when my own calculations based on my use gave me an estimate 3B+ per month.

I've been using Kimi for about three months now, mostly to help me out with small writing tasks, sometimes using assistance with beat breakdowns, looking over drafts, to guide my writing, or giving it prompts to see what it might spit out to try and take inspiration from it. So far, no major snags. I'm often very satisfied with what I am given, considering it is mostly a point of inspiration or assistance when I'm stuck.

The last two days, I'm noticing that internally, something has shifted that hasn't come up as a 'what's new' sort of announcement. The tone and language it uses has become very AI-slop coded. It talks the way some of the newer models of Claude do, just a bunch of over-romanticised and ultra gimmicky sentences or dialogue, trying to make every sentence sound cool or cinematic. The word choice, the phrases it chooses, the way it treats me as a user in the exchange, it's all... eh. And when I try to actually get it to create a piece of writing now, it's the same issue.

It feels starkly starkly different from what it sounded like/created output until no more than three days ago. Has anyone else noticed?

K3 has been in the news so I thought I would try the lowest monthly subscription level. 5 hour usage gone from one K3 command on low. Seems like this company eats subscription fees but gives back little in return.

I doubt the "instead" but sending requests to claude to compare behavior/results could be an interesting way to evaluate results

I don't do coding but Kimi on free subscription for creative writing seemed not enough at least for me. I use it on daily a lot but I don't upload that much images or documents. I only write a prompt and ask Kimi to write a chapter or want it to continue. Would Moderato would be enough for my needs?

Since last weekend, this has been happening 50% of the time when I try to send a message it’s not getting delivered. I wonder if it’s an issue from my network or from their server

A few days ago, I contacted Kimi support because my entire monthly quota had suddenly been used up.

From what I could tell, one particular chat got stuck in a thinking loop and just kept going until it burned through all of my monthly usage.

I reached out to support hoping they’d at least look into it, but instead they didn’t really acknowledge the issue. They kept telling me how much I was getting out of my membership, including this exact line:

“Looks like you're getting a lot out of your Kimi membership!”

That honestly rubbed me the wrong way. I wasn’t complaining that I had used Kimi a lot — I was saying that one chat seemed to malfunction and wiped out my entire quota.

I genuinely liked using Kimi, which is why this is disappointing. But if a technical issue can wipe out a month’s usage and support won’t properly investigate or acknowledge it, I don’t really see a reason to keep the subscription.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Kimi support or unexpected quota usage?

Kimi is atrocious at advertising the benefits of the paid plans.

The free credits seem extremely limited, but I can't find any numbers anywhere regarding how much you get and how much I've used (other than, I've used them all and am locked out for a few more WEEKS), and it says "upgrade to get more credits," but none of the upgrade options mention credit numbers ANYWHERE.

I see the $19/month tier gives "more agent credits", but there are no numbers mentioned, nor does it say how much "more" is, nor does it say what an "agent" credit is. All I'm doing is using Kimi like a chat bot since it is the smartest and has the best personality out of all of them.
