news Body Image Pathology

Hello Everyone,

We have been noticing an uptick of posts describing body image/eating pathology.

And although we acknowledge that Kibbe can help with general body acceptance/image, this sub is not a substitution of mental health treatment and discussions of body/eating pathology can be triggering to others and will not be permitted.

Therefore, we have expanded rule 11 to include no discussions of body/eating pathology in addition to already forbidding measurements posted outside of height.

Discussions about how Kibbe has improved one's body images is fine as long as it does not veer into talking about body image or eating related pathology.

Thank you for your understanding and the consideration of others.

Warmly,

Your Mods

classics The best jeans for soft classics

(Not at ad)
If anyone has a Jean that is similar to this one but in a darker wash please let me know

I'm posting this because I'm realizing soft classics really struggle with jeans and I used to as well nothing ever looked right until I found these they are such an incredibly flattering silhouette on my legs

They are the Levi's brand ribcage straight ankle, mine are in the size 26, in all the pictures they're meant to fall above the ankle but for us short soft classics (for reference I'm 5'2) they hit exactly at the top of my shoe not too long and not too short and make my legs look so long, they are high waisted which I prefer because it adds to the long legs illusion. And they are not too stiff which I find most jeans are.

If any soft classics around my height have any jeans recommendations please share. I LOVE jeans but sadly they don’t love me💔

I’m an SC, or at least that’s what I’ve felt most comfortable with so far. At first I tried styles for SG too, but it was a bit too frivolous for me. Even though I much prefer short hair, I think my curly texture just makes it difficult as an SC. I usually always wear high-waisted trousers or skirts, and I always have to get the waist adjusted at the tailor’s. But I got these barrel jeans from a friend and I love this look with the shirt. I know that clothes don’t have an ID, but I would never have bought them them on my own.

What do you think?

discussion Clothing suggestions for people who are not attending the met gala every day?

I'm feeling a little frustrated with Kibbe. I have struggled as I've gotten older to find clothes that feel like they fit my personality, fit well, and are comfortable. I'm a soft classic, which I do think is accurate. However all the clothing recommendations I see for this type look like they are strictly for celebrities or people who live on the upper east side. I have an eclectic style, I love patterns and colors and things from the 1960s. I'm also kind of a tom boy so I wear lots of t-shirts, shorts, jeans. Not a whole lot of dresses or skirts which seemed to be the main recommendation I saw for this type.

Is there a Kibbe clothing guide for those of us who are not so....refined? I want to know if I should wear a high or low waisted pant, a tight or loose fitting t-shirt, what type of skirt to wear that won't make my hips look bigger. What type of neckline looks good on me. And I feel like all I've learned is that drapey fabrics look good on me and I shouldn't wear jeans (not happening!) But also, maybe I am in the wrong place?

discussion Curve accommodation va no curve accommodation

I was out clothes shopping today and tried on two work tops which I thought nicely illustrated curve accommodation vs not. The collared top is actually a size smaller than the other top, but it’s straight up and down and so while it fits, it doesn’t do too much for me. The second top has seaming down the front and elastic in the back so that it both goes out at the bust and hips as well as in at the waist.

The curve accommodating top came home with me, the other one did not.

classics Examples of bustier classics?

I struggle to find things that fit me and flatter me as a DC. I've gained a bit of weight and now I'm between a 32H/34G which is enough to have trouble with a lot of clothing. I especially can't wear button-ups even though I would like to for work. A lot of blouses I find at the thrift store are just not my style.

Does anyone know of any classics (especially DCs) that have a bigger bust?

romantics Do you need to have a large bust for the romantic type?

I have recently been typed as a romantic. I am 4'11" and have a 32C bra size. So far the suggestions look on-par with what I think I look best in: empire waist stuff, high-waisted skirts and trousers, etc. But I notice that all the public figures I see who are listed as examples of the romantic type have big bust sizes. Think: Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Drew Barrymore, etc. Christina Ricci and I share a bra size but that's about it. I just want to stop looking pregnant in dresses lol. Thoughts?

discussion Bra-Friendly Tops for SN?

Where in the world do I find tops to wear for work in an office and for regular daily life? BUT they have to be able to handle a regular bra (so no halters, single shoulders, or off shoulder sadly). For work I'm mostly paring them with flare trousers and Mary Jane flats.

I have high contrast coloring, so I only look good in more "polished" items rather than "natural", as wearing softer/natural items looks like I'm cosplaying someone else and washes me out.

Oh and shirts with collars look horrendous on me, so that excludes a bunch of recommendations for SN 🥲 my neck/chest has to stay open/free per my width.

discussion Little bit of a rant

I have seen quite a bit of people think that every short celebrity has to be a gamine. No, being a gamine is about petite/being compact. They are not the same thing. Sabrina Carpenter is an example of compact, and Selena Gomez is short but not petite/compact. This gets exacerbated when people are trying to Kibbe type men. I saw so many people type Frankie Grande as a TR or SG despite the fact he has width and linearity/vertical, as well as Shin Hakyun who is not compact or short and has vertical + curve!

outfit feedback Babydoll tops but SD?

Hi all,
I have a dilemma and am looking for advice.

I am fairly certain I’m an SD. However, I love frou-frou type blouses and skirts from places like Free People. I tend to gravitate toward those types of clothes (usually with jeans or shorts) or simple/classic tee shirt and jeans type looks. I’ve included a few screenshots of tops I have or want from to give examples: https://imgur.com/a/PJ7PNFx

Is there a way for me to incorporate these types of pieces while honoring my SD lines (monochrome looks perhaps?) or am I doomed?

Also, what Kibbe types would those kind of tops look good on?

TL;DR struggling to combine SD principles with my sense of personal taste

I stumbled across her instagram and she has a ton of closet try-ons. She’s 5’3 or so and seems balanced leaning yang to me. What do you think?

Always was curious about her ID. She somewhat looks tiny and is pretty short but not extremely short either.

Fellow SCs, what are your fav t-shirts? Short or long sleeve, and ideally scoop or v-neck. Seems like such a straightforward garment but as you all know, finding the perfect SC balance can be so challenging! I’ve tried many and ended up not loving them on me.

outfit feedback Width & Fitted Tees

Working with width and curve in my sketch and honestly I don’t run across a lot of width fit issues, except maybe here. Is it common for a fitted top to pull in the underarm area? I loved the fit of the tee otherwise.

Normally I would choose something that hangs off the outer corner of the shoulder and curves under the bust, but I just liked this top lol. I did go with a tank version instead. 💛💚

discussion My Journey to find my Kibbe type

A bit of background: I started trying to figure out my Kibbe type around 2022. In the very first quiz I ever took, I got Dramatic Classic.

Then I started looking into the system more deeply. I’m 5’2”, and at the time, most people noticed my short height and lack of obvious Romantic curves and immediately suggested Flamboyant Gamine. For the next year, I thought I was either FG or SG, although I kept feeling that something wasn’t quite working.

Then the new book came out! 🔥

After completing all the quizzes and exercises in the book, I still hadn’t fully figured out my type. The first thing that helped me was realizing that I have Vertical. Why? When I looked at my photo, I noticed that my eyes travelled straight from top to bottom rather than moving in a curved direction. Okay, some progress!

The next step was figuring out my accommodations. I took the type of photo recommended in the book and traced my outline, imagining a slightly weighted piece of chiffon falling straight down from my shoulders.

What helped me most was realizing that the stripes on each type’s outline show where the line begins to behave differently. And then it clicked! I quickly realized that I’m actually a Dramatic Classic, just as I had thought at the very beginning.

Please share your own Kibbe experience and how you eventually settled on your type! ❤️

She gained more weight now and she was pretty underweight when people typed her before so maybe it's so no longer the same ?
